As he becomes more comfortable with the simpler, more immediate land, he finds himself irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.
Learning that a seven-year famine has led to a plot to overthrow King Djoser, Tim discovers that his fate, the lives of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate adviser to King Djoser.

If you like to read about Egyptian history you might like this book
I read for various reasons. Some books are history, some entertaining, others for knowledge. This book covered both enertainment and knowledge, although it was fiction the story used actual names from history which kept me interested throughout the storyline. I think it is a good work of fiction to be enjoyed as such.
It was ok
The author really has a handle on the ancient Egyptian point of view. Very well written!
intriguing presentation of ancient civilization. whets appetite for more.
This is a fascinating take on the story of ancient Egypt. “What if …” is often the question behind the best science fiction, as it is here, though I hesitate to call this sci-fi.
This is really just well-told tale about people and events that are known from history. I think I enjoyed the story better because I wasn’t sure of the premise so I …
This is the first book in a 4 book series. I’m in the 4th book now, the series takes place in modern and ancient Egypt. Quite interesting!
Had some good moments, sometimes it dragged on and was too long.
Overall it was a pretty good read.
didn’t make much sense to me
Great historical setting bringing life to the everyday reality of ancient Egypt. Well researched. Interesting twists. Occasional commentary on contrasts between current culture and ancient culture was insightful.
I love time travel!
Entertaining twist on time travel. Interesting take on an historical Egyptian person.
Did not finish it
I couldn’t put this book down!
Enjoyed. Different than what I usually read.
I tried to like this book. It would have been very helpful if it had included a couple pages of maps. The names of the characters and towns were tongue-twisters, and the writing was not so clear so as to overcome the difficulty of following the characters’ movements without some visual assistance. It would have made the story more interesting …
Fast read,, unique plot and learned a lot about ancient Egypt. Really enjoyed it.
Three Americans step back in time to Ancient Egypt.
This book which started out rather thinly with a easy plot twist ended up as a much more thoughtful and developed plot and idea. Science fiction turned historical turned thought provoking. An easy read with a compelling story.
The book was quite original, and I had trouble putting it down. Even though it was essentially a fantasy, it became almost believable and possible. The characters were well fleshed out. I would recommend it to someone who likes adventurous and thrilling books. Good story!
