“Imhotep” is the first book in a four-novel series about the ancient Egyptian architect. Stumbling in the dark of an unfinished tomb beneath the sands of Saqqara, American tourist Tim Hope unknowingly passes through a time portal that leads to ancient Egypt — a time before the Sphinx, before the great pyramids of Giza, and long before the loss of his beloved Addy. When he discovers that two … that two other Americans preceded him through the time portal, Tim immerses himself in the ancient world to search for them. As he becomes more comfortable with the simpler, more immediate land, he finds himself irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.
Learning that a seven-year famine has led to a plot to overthrow King Djoser, Tim discovers that his fate, the lives of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate adviser to King Djoser.
Downloaded by more than 100,000 readers, “Imhotep” is the first book in an acclaimed four-book series about the ancient Egyptian architect Imhotep. The second book in the series is “The Buried Pyramid.” The third book is “The Forest of Myrrh.” The fourth book is “The Field of Reeds.”

This was the first in a 4 series book, I couldn’t decide why I liked it, but I couldn’t put it down until the series was finished. I got wrapped up in the characters and needed to know what was going to happen to them.
I expected an exciting time travel. Big mistake. This book is mostly about idyllic life in the ancient Egypt. Nothing can be further from the truth. The life was hard and short in those times, not to mention slavery, wars, etc. Of course there are villains but of course they lose. The characters are undeveloped and mostly cartoonish.
Outlander in ancient Egypt. Strains credulity!
Hard to follow
Wonderful historical fiction — sort off! But written so well that you put it down and think — yea! it could have happened that way.
A great deal of research went into the creation of this world. Great characters and a compelling story that kept me reading.
Boring. Could not finish.
This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Wonderful combination of a historical novel combined with the adventures of time travel. Hard to put this book down. Couldn’t wait to start reading the next in the series.
I’m only half way through the book, but I felt compelled to write a review because I love the idea of this book. Just what I enjoy reading. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to be entertained by a book. Can’t wait to get back to it to see what happens.
Was an interesting fictional glimpse into early Egyptian history. Love portals to the past!
Excellent book, meticulously researched, and a real page-turner. Pulls you in and doesn’t let you go.
I’ve owned Imhotep for sometime. Just doing a quick reread before reading the rest of the series, I’ve just purchased. This is a well written time travel book. Using a very plausible method of going into the Egyptian Past, 5,000 years into their past. It was written before time travel became a ridiculously overused device in every current romance …
Historical fiction with believable characters mixed in with the people living in the time period. Very enjoyable reading.
marvelous look into a mysterious past
Really enjoyed the characters and the story. Not the normal time travel scenarios.
Meticulously researched but I found the basic premise that white folks arriving in classical Egypt would be worshipped as gods and (spoiler alert) the idea that one of Egypt’s greatest heroes was really a white American amateur disturbing and offensive. Plus it’s pretty much Outlander in Egypt…
Really enjoyed this book probably because I find ancient Egypt fascinating. Good character development. It’s a shame the series is only available through Amazon. I’d like to read the rest of the series but don’t like being forced to purchase it from a particular bookseller.
Loved this novel that takes a time in our past and brings it to life with a little bit of fantasy and a lot of thought-provoking experiences. The story includes interesting life situations that involve religion, history, and social norms, pushing the readers to do their own self evaluations while being entertained. Well written with well formed …
This is an awesome book, I enjoyed it tremendously!
This four-book series was the best thing I’ve read in a while! I loved every page. I can’t express how good it was or how often I’ve thought of it since.
