“Imhotep” is the first book in a four-novel series about the ancient Egyptian architect. Stumbling in the dark of an unfinished tomb beneath the sands of Saqqara, American tourist Tim Hope unknowingly passes through a time portal that leads to ancient Egypt — a time before the Sphinx, before the great pyramids of Giza, and long before the loss of his beloved Addy. When he discovers that two … that two other Americans preceded him through the time portal, Tim immerses himself in the ancient world to search for them. As he becomes more comfortable with the simpler, more immediate land, he finds himself irresistibly attracted to the delicate Meryt, a wbt-priestess for the god Re.
Learning that a seven-year famine has led to a plot to overthrow King Djoser, Tim discovers that his fate, the lives of the two Americans and the future of Egypt rest in the hands of the legendary Imhotep, master architect of the Step Pyramid, renowned physician and intimate adviser to King Djoser.
Downloaded by more than 100,000 readers, “Imhotep” is the first book in an acclaimed four-book series about the ancient Egyptian architect Imhotep. The second book in the series is “The Buried Pyramid.” The third book is “The Forest of Myrrh.” The fourth book is “The Field of Reeds.”

An interesting time travel novel with an ancient Egyptian theme.
The author brings alive a slice of life in ancient Egypt while engaging the reader’s interest in the survival of the protagonists. Having visited the pyramid of Saqqarra I particularly enjoyed understanding some of its history.
Fun to read. Very entertaining. I have recommended it to friends and family. I am intrigued with this period in history.
Interesting take on how the pyramids were built.
had to buy the rest of the series
Great read!
Would give it 10 stars if possible
I enjoyed these characters more than any group of characters in a long time. I’m sad there’s only four books in the set. It makes time travel seem so possible, and what an eye opener for a 21st century schizoid man to end up in ancient Egypt – even before the pyramids!!!!
The premise of the book — using time travel to create historical characters– is a bit reminiscent of Connie Willis, but the theory of non-interference is blown away as the lead makes choices that inevitably wrap him in the fabric of his new time. this seems to be a new genre and I’m really enjoying it. The author takes a time in Egyptian …
I really enjoyed how the characters developed and the soul searching they did along the way. Love, drama, suspense, heroics…..it had it all. Look forward to reading the other books
When I purchased this book, it was primarily to get a better understanding of Ancient Egypt through a historical novel venue. Never did I imagine that this would be so captivating a story that I would purchase every book of the 4-book series, one right after the other. I am hooked! I have been transported to Ancient Egypt and back to modern …
I did not really expect to like this book, but I LOVE Egypt and so gave it a try. The first few pages and even the first few chapters had me thinking that this just wasn’t the sort of thing I enjoyed reading. I persevered for a bit longer however, and was really drawn in. The characters were well drawn; the setting explained well in an …
Surprisingly engrossing! Realistic characters in an unusual location. Couldn’t put it down. Very well-written.
Read all 5 books in the series and the ending in book 4 was not expected. Highly recommended for any age.
Well put together story of ancient Egypt. Characters a bit unrealistic but fun to read anyhow.
Very original and enterrtaining novel. Stands alone from series.
This book makes history come alive with its characters. You become embroiled in the history of the day and time. The characters reactions are attuned to the culture and era of the time.
I really enjoyed Imhotep. The author noted that he had edited out the F-bombs from an earlier edition and I heartily thank him. It is one of my pet peeves that authors think that they have to include foul language to make a book realistic. In New York Maybe but not in my world.
The book has a historical background and a touch of Twilight Zone …
I enjoyed the book…..will probably look for additional books by this author!
A very good historical novel! 5,000 years ago, in ancient Egypt, 3 accidental time travels attempt to adapt to the times. Greeted as gods by some and enemies by others, the book follows their adventures. The book offers what appears to be an accurate history of the times with the machinations of the jealous and fearful affecting our travelers, who …
This Author has a wonderful skill where when you read the book you feel you are actually in Egypt. This is about a young man who time travels to Egypt and becomes Imhotep. How he advises the ruler and impacts the culture of that time. The family he acquires, friends and just daily life in general- but not in anyway boring. What is really …
