“They don’t fear me, quite the opposite. It makes it twice as fun… I know the next time will be soon, I’ve learnt to recognise the signs. I think I even know who it will be. She’s oblivious of course, just as she should be. All the time, I watch and wait and she has no idea, none at all. And why would she? I’m disguised as myself, the very best disguise there is.”
A known prostitute is found … found stabbed to death in a shabby corner of Abbeyford. Detective Sergeant Kate Redman and her partner Detective Sergeant Olbeck take on the case, expecting to have it wrapped up in a matter of days. Kate finds herself distracted by her growing attraction to her boss, Detective Chief Inspector Anderton – until another woman’s body is found, with the same knife wounds. And then another one after that, in a matter of days.
Forced to confront the horrifying realisation that a serial killer may be preying on the vulnerable women of Abbeyford, Kate, Olbeck and the team find themselves in a race against time to unmask a terrifying murderer, who just might be hiding in plain sight…

Praise for The Kate Redman Mysteries from Amazon and Goodreads reviewers:
“One of the best I have read this year. I read about a fourth of the book early in the day, then at bedtime, I thought I would read a bit more before sleep. I finished the book at 5:20 AM. Just could not put it down.”
“At last, a mystery that delivers…I found this novel superb because I got all I needed to know and none of what I didn’t.”
“…a gripping detective story but the main character engages you, and as well as wanting to know how the mystery turns out you want to learn more about her too.”
“…amazing book, read it front to back in one visit, couldn`t help myself…”
“…the most enjoyable Kindle book I have so far read since the ‘low cost electronic revolution’ which has been sweeping my reading habits for the last couple of years! Thoroughly recommended.”

Good book, not great, but still a good book
Boring
I thoroughly enjoy this author.
Loved this book and the whole Kate Redmond mystery series by Celina Grace. I just bought book 12 and am pre ordered for book 13. A must read collection. Each book is great as a standalone as well.
The only issue I have is across the American media. Written, Television, news, movies, talking heads do not know or use proper grammar! I find myself correcting as I read. Sad commentary about our educational system. And annoying!
On a scale from 1 to 10,with 10 being the highest, I would give it 8.
Really am glad I found this series. It’s wonderful. Thanks!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s full of action, danger and suspense, twists and turns, murders and mayhem. I love the characters of Kate Redman. Olbeck and their boss, Anderton. A serial killer is on the loose in their jurisdiction and the killings are happening with less time in between them. The ending was a big surprise. Celina Grace writes terrific UK police procedurals. You can’t go wrong with a Kate Redman mystery story.

Enjoyed the mystery and the characters were very real. Kept me interested
Interesting and engaging! I love Celina Grace’s writing.
Love a page turner. Great book!
This is the third book in the Kate Redmond series that I’ve read and my least favorite. This one seemed very simplistic and mechanical in the plot. I knew who the killer was after only a couple if chapters. The main character spends a lot if time wallowing in internal angst which really detracts from the mystery.
This was book 3 in the Kate Redman series, and I’m pulling the plug. There are several more books in the series (a couple of which I have obtained free), but I’m done. These are quick reads, but they are just way too predictable and formulaic. And I’ve really gotten to loathe the main character’s inner monologue. She is constantly talking in her head (like we all are), and I just don’t think it adds anything to the book. If anything it detracts from the plot since we get hung up waiting for the character to finish a thought. It’s like she blacks out for a minute, and we get stuck with her in that hole until she snaps herself out it. We can already guess her weaknesses and observe her vulnerabilities. We see her in action, and so we don’t need the author to constantly clue us into to them by getting to “hear” the storms of emotions inside Kate. We get it…she’s troubled and has a lot of baggage she carries with her every day. Her past is still haunting her, but this isn’t a new perspective on our existence on this planet. This is reality. Deal with it.
I just recently discovered the Kate Redman Mystery series and fell in love with the lead character and all of her foibles/insecurities and watched her grow and mature over the course of each progressive book. I look forward to reading more in this series.
I enjoy this English lady detective, and her realistic disappointment, in her work filled day, and no time for meaningful romantic relationship.
Kate Redman books are easy reading and hard to put down.
Typical Kate Redman story…which means it’s very readable and enjoyable.
Very entertaining book. Liked the main character. Kept me guessing until the end.
Great story. There needs to be serious proofreading and it nearly made me quit the story.
