In the backroads and bayous of Louisiana lives a clan of mix-matched shifters. Their Alpha, Kincaid, has been kidnapped by a ruthless Dragon who thrives on torture and pain. Kaid struggles to survive against all odds. Unable to contact his clan, and weak and unable to shift from his Bear, he has given up almost all hope. One night a human female is brought to the Dragon’s compound against her … against her will. Avaleigh has been chosen to be the Dragon’s Mate. She is tortured to the brink of insanity, easily overpowered by the Dragon. Gradually she realizes that she has no chance of freedom. But will she be strong enough to save Kaid’s Bear? And if she does, will he be able to leave her there?
Sitting alone in a smoke-filled bar room, another Dragon waits. Stuck in this place, for no reason other than his Dragon refuses to leave here, Daniel GreyStorm watches the patrons come and go. Frustration keeps him company as he waits, wondering what fascination this Louisiana backroads bar holds for his Dragon. He has no idea he is on a collision course with Fate.
This book is the first in a new series, Avaleigh’s Boys, about a group of shifters who make their home in the backwoods and bayous of South Louisiana. Their clan consists of a mix-matched group of five shifters who depend on one another and are loyal to no end. These are their stories.
Warning: Intended for mature audiences. These stories contain hot bear, dragon, wolf and lion shifters. They like to cuss, fight and love their women. This book contains explicit love scenes, lots of use of the “F” word (among others), and some abuse and forced sex by evil shifters. If you are offended by these subjects, please do not buy this book.

This is a great read with a little bit of action, dark themes to start, some sexy scenes and a whole cast of great characters. Avaleigh was a great character who was strong and very caring. Loved the plot and the storyline. Other characters were also well developed and likeable. Kaid was a bear shifter who was also a prisoner at the start and was a great character who was also an alpha. Daniel is a dragon shifter who at first has a hard time getting Ava to accept him due to the bad guy Lurin. Other characters such as Bam and Bane were all wonderful and I look forward to reading more in this series as these shifters stole my heart.
New author and series for me !! Oh wow this is Daniel and Avaleigh’s story , well kind of a lot more than just theirs !! Warning over the first parts of the story it might be hard for some but it gives you info that will be needed in the story to understand why reactions are the way they are . Now that said get ready to start reading and not stopping until the end ! Oh and get ready to want the rest of this series too !! Man I want to write more on this but I never give spoilers !! Just know that this one is gripping and intense and the danger and the hotness will have you crying , laughing and falling in love . Everything that makes an amazing story is in here !! Well written and strongly recommended to all .
Love, love, loved this book. Ave’s strength of character is never diminished even after her horrific ordeal. Loved each and every character in this book…especially Bam…he made me cry sweet sad tears. Kaid is such a strong Alpha and Daniel surprised me, Lurin properly scary! This is a book Not to be missed…I couldn’t put it down. If I could have given it more stars I would have!! Really looking forward to reading Bane’s story. This author is fast becoming one of my favorites because her stories hold me captured in her pages.
For adult readers
Lurin was a psycho shifter mix that starred as the villian in this story. He had some sort of deluded idea that if he kept dragons and mates separate, that he’d live longer. He takes Avaliegh against her will and does unspeakable things to her. It was also insinuated that he did something with Kaid’s mate, so I’m eager to go on to book 2. This book has a group of rag tag shifters who form not only their own group, but a close knit family. I like the diversity of this crazy group.
Loved it!
First in series
At the hands of psychotic and abusive snake/dragon hybrid called Lurin, Avaleigh somehow wakes to find herself absused, beaten and held captive. She is informed she is his mate and that she is expected to love and mother their children.
Horrified by her situation…. but not broken mentally, she plans her escape. But she is not the only prisoner held by Lurin…. Kinkaid is a bear shifter, and alpha to his clan of mixed shifters, after stopping on a journey home for a beer and food he finds himself caged, dying of starvation and depression.
Until he sees Lurin bring home a human female as his new plaything… Kaid is disgusted and wants nothing more than to help the female.
When opportunity arises they take it and escape, with Kaid biting Ave in a bid to protect her…all dna from Lurin will be wiped from her body and he won’t be able to track her down… staying with Kaid and his clan members feels safe and like home, if he would just stop with trying to make her accept his claim…that they should be mates! Ave doesn’t feel romantic love for Kaid or the other clan members… who are more like brothers to her… .. especially when they keep telling he she is a ‘dragons mate’!
Petrified at the thought of having anything to do with a dragon Ave is adamant she would have nothing to do with one… until a chance encounter on her first night out in months leads her straight into the path of one….despite her fear and past trauma… Ave is convinces she is Is NOT A DRAGONS MATE… right??
Triggers beware this book starts with some quite brutal and potentially upsetting scenarios..
Please don’t read if easily upset as some parts in the early stages of this book are very graphic and descriptive.
KUDOS to the author from not shying away from the hard topics but still being able to pull back from the darkness and write an original and engrossing book that I was sucked into from the start. It was a wonderful story about inner strength and bravery. To over come and continue with the most tender wounds. Poor Ave was put through the emotional and physical wringer and my heart ached for her during her experiences… yes… I’m aware she is a fictional charachter but the scenarios were/are very real life. Despite her pain she was strong, brave and focused in moving forward with her life.
The relationships between Ave and her ‘boys’ was lovely especially between her and Bam. His simplistic way of looking at things combined with her special ‘treatment’ of him, enabled and helped her to heal small wounds and build herself back together piece by piece. They were all supportive and ‘overbearing big brothers’.
Initially I was gutted when I realised who Ave’s love interest was… but #NoSpoilers I’m really happy with how it turned out and looking forward to reading the next instalments of this series and seeing who the boys matches are.
An amazing world that I can’t wait to dive into again!
This is one of those series that you just want to binge on. Not only will you be turning page after page, but you will not want to wait to start the next book. For this being the first book from this author, I was not disappointed in the least. I loved this story and it’s characters. Right from the beginning it starts off dark and intense. Then you start meeting these great characters that just suck you in to their story. I laughed, I shed a tear or two, and wanted to jump in and punch out a character or two also. The last thing I wanted to do was quit reading. You just can’t help fall in love with each one of the members of this clan. I fell in love so hard with Bam!
In I’m Not a Dragon’s Mate, you get to meet the clan and how they meet Avaleigh. The clan consists of different kind of shifters who consider themselves family whether their blood related or not. When Kaid and Avaleigh rescue eachother from a psychotic dragon shifter, they develop a bond. And no matter how much Kaid wants the bond to be more, they both know they’re not eachother’s mate.
This is the first book in the series and an amazing start. One that will get you hooked and addicted. Told in third person and really easy to follow. Devoured this book in one sitting and couldn’t wait to start the next one.
