For fans of Marie Lu comes the first book in an epic series that bends the sci-fi genre into a new dimension. “A truly beautiful novel that redefines the form.” —Victoria Aveyard, bestselling author of Red Queen This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations … The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than a speck at the edge of the universe. Now with enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to evacuate with a hostile warship in hot pursuit.
But their problems are just getting started. A plague has broken out and is mutating with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a web of data to find the truth, it’s clear the only person who can help her is the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.
Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, maps, files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

It was a little hard to read at first because of the creative style (emails, voice transcriptions, etc.), but I am glad I forged ahead! I loved it!
For anyone having trouble reading it, highly suggest listening to audiobook while reading along with the book. Also I would not suggest this on kindle as the graphics can be hard to read. It’s a wonderful sci fi book for any age group.
I plan to recommend this book on my deathbed
Absolutely unique in every way possible.
I picked this book up trying to find a couple of good scifi books to my reading list. The cover grabbed me and I remember thinking the concept sounded interesting. I’ve had a few books to read on my list so its taken me a bit to get to it and now I’m kicking myself that I didn’t read it sooner. Simply put: I LOVE THIS BOOK. I love the formatting, the writing style, the characters, the plot everything. It is amazing and even if you aren’t normally a scifi reader you need to get it. NOW.
Could not put it down.
This series is just amazing. Really enjoyed, this was very different from anything Ive read.
5 Amazingly Brilliant Stars
This was one of the funnest books I have ever read. I liked the fact the story is completely told through surveillance footage accounts, e-mails, secured documents, etc. Even if you don’t understand all the science jumbo, you can still keep up with the story and see what’s happening from every part of the story as it unravels to its explosive conclusion. There was romance, but overwhelming to the point that it took over the story. Kady and Ezra are very lovable characters. Ezra is the sweetest guy ever. All I can say is that this book is amazing. Maybe one of the best sci-fi books I’ve ever read. This book will not disappoint you. You can’t help but to like it and enjoy its unique layout. Kady totally made that ending awesome as hell. Girls got spunk.
My son recommended this book to me, and I regret it took me so long to actually read. I found the Kindle version more difficult to read than the hardcover, but the audiobook was my favorite. Such a fantastic opening to the trilogy.
I seriously can’t sing the praise of this book or the series enough. Seriously, Go get the book. It’s not just a book. It’s art. The story and the display play out amazingly and I love love love it.
I listened to this on audio. It was with a cast of narrators. This book keeps you guessing until the very end. Kadie is a strong willed girl and goes after what she wants especially information. This is a great book.
At first, the main reason that I picked up this was because of who was one of the writers, Stan Lee. I admire all of his works. His creations are truly a huge part of one of my friends and I friendship. Since we have been friends, we have gone and seen almost every Marvel movie in theaters together. As I walking between book shelves at my local library, I saw Lee, Stan. I just had to pick it up. The book is rather good. The names for the most part are simplistic names and Mr. Lee even has one of the main characters have the last name Lee. There are 12 Zodiacs so in essence there are 12 people who can control said Zodiacs. There is a war for power over all the Zodiacs. A kid didn’t even know that he could harness such power until a school trip goes wrong. Most of the chapters are rather short compared to the last book I read. It definitely has some superhero elements in it. This was a great read and I will be reading the second one soon. This book shows that your family doesn’t always have to be blood related and that if you work together, almost anything is possible. At the very end, it leaves you with a few questions which I think will be answered in the next one.
