“We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”
At first, Jude and her twin brother are NoahandJude; inseparable. Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude wears red-red lipstick, cliff-dives, and does all the talking for both of them.
Years later, they are barely speaking. Something has happened to change the twins in different yet equally devastating ways . . . but then Jude meets an intriguing, irresistible boy and a mysterious new mentor.
The early years are Noah’s to tell; the later years are Jude’s. But they each have only half the story, and if they can only find their way back to one another, they’ll have a chance to remake their world.
This radiant, award-winning novel from the acclaimed author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.

honestly the best book I’ve ever read, i couldn’t stop reading it.
Beautiful writing and very original and interesting characters
It was pretty good!
There were twists I didn’t really see coming and the characterizations were so human. The characters were allowed to be human and make mistakes. Points for that, for sure!
The one big thing I didn’t enjoy was the writing. I know that it might be beautiful to some, but it was painful to get through for me. The descriptions were sometimes so sudden that it was difficult to decipher them (I remember something along the lines of “Mom takes a knife to Dad’s side, twists. Dad forges on, oblivious.”).
All in all, a nice read that I wasn’t that passionate about.
I read a lot of young adult books, and I always think my own books are so much better. Not this time.
Man, I wish I wrote this book! I was sucked in from page one. I liked it so much that I had to read the beginning out loud to several friends. The book is so genuine, vivid, emotional without ever becoming sappy.
Jandy Nelson has an incredible ability to talk about painful topics with a sense of humor that touches the deepest cord of the reader’s heart. A beautiful portrait of life out west, teenage romance, coming of age, family drama and an incredible description of the process of artistic creation.
A must read. Like I said, I wish I wrote it ^_^
My neice recently asked, “What’s the best book you’ve read in the past decade?” I didn’t even have to think on it: I’ll Give You the Sun.
I’ve read this book multiple times because I’m in awe. It is perfection. I won’t pigeon hole this book by calling it coming of age, because it will appeal to every reader. So good.
Hands down, my favorite book and the first book I recommend to everyone. The way she uses language to paint these beautiful images, it’s like walking around a museum of stories.
seriously my favorite book of all time. I love the way each chapter alternates character POV and time periods, I’ve never read another book written that way. You will absolutely fall in love with Noah, increadible storytelling.
A fantastic book!!
Sobbing in love and joy!
What an amazing storyteller Jandy Nelson is…just, wow.
