Declan
I thought I was smarter – I was wrong. My brother Tytus thwarted my last plan of escape, and now I’m faced with the imminent threat of death.
Until the Romanian immortal who imprisoned me comes to me with a proposition. Save an innocent maiden from the Underworld, return her to the land of the living, and I will be free with a realm all for myself.
Of course, she neglects to mention said maiden is her daughter, and that the journey will place me face to face with the lord of the Underworld himself.
And then none of that seems to matter when I meet Constanza. Because I’ve seen her, before. For the past months, she is all I’ve dreamt about. And I can’t wait to see if the reality matches the fantasy…especially if her pretty, innocent soul can be corrupted.
Unless she gets to mine first, that is.
Constanza
Having two immortal parents can get overbearing, fast. Which is why I love vacationing in the Underworld and hanging out with Hades and Persephone.
Only this time, the safe walls surrounding us are starting to crumble and, before I know it, we’re under attack. No amount of Greek heroes can help save us… until he shows.
And he just happens to be the sexy angel from my dreams. Only he looks like walking temptation, and Mom’s warnings suddenly don’t matter anymore. May the gods help me, because I’m not getting out of this unharmed, one way or another.

A spinoff duology of the Moonlight Rogues wolf shifter series; get ready for two very stubborn zmei that play at being dragon shifters, two equally feisty females keeping them in line, and a gazillion Romanian and Greek mythology references. Oh, and action. Let’s not forget the action.

“Igniting the Ice” is the second book in the “Flaming Rogues” Duology by Alexa Whitewolf, the series focusing on the zmeu, the Carpathian Dragons we already briefly meet in the previous “Moonlight Rogues” Series by Whitewolf.
This is Declan story, and we finally get to know him in depth and pick his mind, and Declan mind is really a wonderful place to explore . After Tytus dismantled Declan’s escape plan, he finds himself still trapped in the Underworld and running out of options, but his luck seems to be returning when Ileana offers him a chance at freedom, he would only have to bring Constanza back from the Underworld, not biggie! Except for all the small details: Constanza, who is just having a long vacation with her friend Persephone (and Hades of course), is in fact Ileana daughter, and the girl that has been haunting Declan’s dreams.
Alexa Whitewolf interlaces factual mythology and folklore, both Romanian and Ancient Greek, with fiction elements to create a wonderful story. Her version of the Underworld is fantastic, not only true to the mythology but credible, fresh, entertaining, and a perfect setting for the story. All characters are very well-crafted with Declan at the very top. Declan develops from the extremely unlikeable villain, through a victim of manipulations to finally the (sometimes tragic) hero of the story. An awesome conclusion to both the Duology and Declan quest for happiness.

Remarkable job Alexa, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Declan was the villain in the Moonlight Rogues series but in this duology, we started to understand him better in book one, Fanning the Flames. In Igniting the Ice, Declan is the main character and we finally are able to get inside his head and really understand his motivations. I will be honest that I was never a fan of Declan because to me he was incredibly unlikable. I will also admit that my heart started to thaw towards him because in many instances he was a victim and had been manipulated in ways that would cause someone great harm. Not an excuse for his choices because they were harmful but I was willing to give him some grace.
What I really loved about this story was its setting. Love anything to do with Hades and the Underworld and this story delivered on that front. There were many mythological characters in this story and I found them both intriguing and their use fascinating. Connie and Declan were two well developed characters who were the most unlikely couple but they totally worked together. It took a few start-stop situations before things started to really mesh between them but in the end, theirs was a sweet and heartfelt romance. Overall, Igniting the Ice is a fantastic tale that is filled with action, adventure, romance, and would greatly appeal to readers who enjoy the mythological.
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Alexa Whitewolf, author. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
This is my favorite of the Flaming Rogues Duet! Declan and Constanza are such great characters, and the romance is totally swoon worthy!!! There was also lots of action and suspenseful scenes that had me flipping through the pages, not wanting to put it down!! I read it in one day!!
The majority of the story takes place in the underworld, and the world building was incredible!! Plus there’s lots of mythology, and fun people like the Greek heroes. It’s definitely a page-turner!!
The character building was incredible!! The growth of the two main characters is really moving, and it makes you love them even more!! I totally ship Declan and Constanza!!!
