Sixteen-year-old Marci Guerrero is one of the best teen hackers in Seattle. However, she’d give up all her talents to know she isn’t crazy. Marci feels possessed by shadowy spectres that take control of her body and make her do crazy things. While spying on the clandestine group known as IgNiTe, she is confronted by their mysterious leader, James McCray. His presence stirs the spectres inside her … inside her brain into a maddening frenzy. Her symptoms and ability to control them don’t go unnoticed by James, who soon recruits her.
As IgNiTe reveals its secrets, Marci starts to realise that half the world’s population is infected with sentient parasites, which are attacking and eventually supplanting the human brain.
Now Marci wishes she was crazy, because this truth is far worse . . .

I’m not really a fan of doomsday fiction, though I enjoy a dark fantasy when it’s well done. I am a fan of Ingrid Seymour, however, as her record is perfect when it comes to enjoyment. No surprise then that I decided to try out her latest, Ignite The Shadows, first book in the new series of the same name. Wow, am I ever glad a did. Yes, the shadows here (think Invasion of the Body Snatchers or The Host) are truly freaky, but it’s a good kind of freaky, and the lead here – Marci – is superb. As is the writing a plot, which sucked me right in. Total reading pleasure abs definitely recommended.
Could not put this book down, I was sucked in immediately! Teen angst, mystery, action, suspense with a great plot and characters. I love Marci she has much on her plate she thinks she is going crazy and James comes along and helps her understand whats going on. Just a fantastic read.
This is really an exhilarating book! Do you have a monster inside you. Who is in control? Marci was a teenager that was different and had a twin brother she thought was dead. Marci decided to join a group looking for monsters. A well written and exciting story! Can’t wait until the next book comes out.
From the book description I was expecting a good read but I was blown away with how amazing this story was. I loved the mix of supernatural, mystery, teenage angst, and insanity that made up this story. After the end of chapter one I was hooked and could not put it down until the end. I had to find out what was going on and who the bad guys really were. At the beginning of the story there were too many characters and ideas that could be the bad guys but by the end everything was clear. I thought the pace of the story was great and just drew me in. I loved the twists and turns, the characters, and the ending to set up the next in the series. I was both entertained and hooked.

Remarkable job Ingrid, thanks for sharing this treasure with us.
WOW! Ingrid Seymour never fails to leave me speechless. In awe of her writing skills; her imagination; her talents. This book starts out with a Big Bang of action right from the first few pages. It kinda reminds me of Stephanie Meyers’ book “The Host”. However, Marci’s host is not quite so nice. I enjoyed Marci’s humor. Her internal thoughts are a bit snarky. It is comedic relief for a more serious situation. Marci learns a lot about her ‘host’ and the pros and cons of being infected. A group bearing the same infection as she does helps her learn to handle hers. But she is also in a big conundrum. What to do about her non-infected family, her non-infected boyfriend, and the non-infected co-workers she has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I’m greatly looking forward to the next book in this series to see what Ms Seymour has in store for us.
I don’t even know what to say on how this book was written. You felt like you were right there. The mystery, suspense, the horror, the unknown, the heartache. So many feeling in this book, I really had a hard time putting it down to do something I need to do. The feelings that Marci is feeling. What will she do when she finds out its more than what she thought? What does IgNiTe really do? Who to trust? Why do some like me and some hate me? Can they really do something to help. Wow what a world? What should she do about her best friend? Can she tell him the truth or will he hate her if he knew? What to do? So many things? I received a free copy for my honest review.
I actually really liked this book and couldn’t put it down. The characters, for me, were well developed and Marci is rather complex. Ingrid Seymour spun a very believable world in which I actually felt like I could have been there with Marci. I’ve read a few dystopian books, but for me this almost felt like a pre-dystopian story. I got completely sucked into the plot very early on and was it was so hard to put down, I wanted to know what happened. Whilst there is no cliffhanger to this book, it is open-ended to lead into the next part of the storyline. I really would like to see the relationship between Xavier and Marci expand, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the next book. As for the brother, now that’s an interesting little twist, I never guessed who it was. Admittedly, I wasn’t looking for that to happen, but as it has, I’m wondering if there is something a little off about that situation near the end.
All in all, if you like a good book, that reads effortlessly and is a little different in topic, then this would be a good read. It’s got a little on the thriller side, suspense, twists, weird things, parasites that are odd. Yep, definitely reading the next book, I was looking for something different.
