In a world that’s burning, where it’s every man for himself, all they can do to survive is hold on to each other… with the help of his best friend, Austin.
When a massive meteor shower creates chaos at the camp, Austin and Tan take the chance to escape. They’re joined by Mack, a newbie at camp who is an expert in survival but knows nothing about love…or anything else.
But when they discover human-like aliens have landed on Earth with war on their agenda, their escape becomes a hell of a lot more dangerous. They grow close, but without power and food and no safe place to stay, how will they survive? Where can they find freedom…and love?
While the world around them burns, all they have are each other.
Ignite is the first book in the suspenseful Ignite trilogy, a slow burn MMM romance set in an alternative world. The first book ends in a cliffhanger, but the series will end with a HEA.

A daring escape, an alien invasion, and unexpected love.
This bundle is the perfect way to read this saga! The world Nora has created comes alive, immersing you. I was drawn into the character’s lives from the first pages. From the new configuration of the United States, to the alien invasion, to the homophobic laws & brutal rehab camps, these books are non- stop action. And the sex is smoking hot.
Come. Follow Austin, Tan and Mack as they escape from the gay internment camp, where Tan has been constantly abused. Fleeing during an alien invasion, their bond grows. Each man has particular skills that compliment the others. Finding refuge from both the aliens & humans eager to steal their supplies, they also find something else… love. Along the way they will make an alien friend, find a lost brother & a father, and not only survive, but thrive. In the end, HEA is assured, but the road isn’t smooth. The journey is well worth the trip. You will love this series.
Triggers: PTSD, past issues of rape and abuse, which are handled with dignity. There is violence, including death, but they are not gratuitous. These issues are integral to the story. I was in no way offended.
This book contains adult themes and language, mmm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
I absolutely love this book series! The world building is phenomenal and the characters steal your heart from the moment you meet them. I love that each character has trauma and challenges to overcome and that those difficulties bring them together and make them stronger. 100% recommend
I loved both the ebook and audiobook of Ignite and finished the story in just over 24 hours. Set in an alternate world with many parallels to our own, the author has incorporated several of today’s issues into this novel. Despite the seriousness at times, this is an exciting read, and this is carried forward into the narration by Kenneth Obi.
As usual, I found voices matched the personalities of the three main characters perfectly. Unusually, I didn’t have a real favourite. Sometimes, it was sweet Tan who appears to be the weakest but has so many (surprising) strengths. Then it was Austin who seems to be a natural leader, but has worries and insecurities that allow a softer side to peep through. And innocent Mack who can’t be6he has feelings for 2 men and whose survivalist background is so useful. All are beautifully written and brought to life.
Ignite is an excellent introduction to the series of 3 books and it says everything when I went straight into the second book. 5 stars all round.
Speechless
This is not a happy world. It is disturbing, complex, gritty but in the midst of all that you’ll find moments full of beauty and hope. This book will grab ahold of you and not let go. It made me feel everything and I was hooked from the first sentence.
“The world may be burning, but we have each other, and together, we’re strong.” Austin, Tan and Mack join forces to survive in this challenging new landscape that’s grueling and gruesome. All three are skilled in their own ways but together they form a effective and tight-knit combo. Austin is the lynchpin. He’s steady in the face of chaos, protective and a natural leader. Tan is observant with a mischievous side that surprises me and yet it doesn’t. He also has a softer side that not many get to see and makes me want to cuddle him. Mack, I have a soft spot for. He is adorably shy and so very innocent. He’s also very smart and resourceful. I love his blushes but want to hurt some people from his past for things they did and said to him.
My heart breaks for all that’s occurred in their lives but I must admit I’m so happy they found each other. I love all three of them and can’t picture one without the others. The bond they’ve formed is unbreakable and beautiful and shines in this desolate world. I can’t wait to see what’s next for them. An engrossing, emotional and extraordinary introduction to a series that will leave you craving more.
Austin, Tan, and Mack are three young men sentence to a “reintegration” camp that’s supposed to “cure” homosexuality. This camp is nothing more than a glorified prison where atrocious acts are committed upon the imprisoned young men. Then aliens suddenly attack the Earth and begin a mass genocide of the human race. During this chaos, Austin, Tan and Mack escape and what begins as an alliance in order to stay alive transforms into something more, something pure and loving. The young men must rely on their wits and each other to survive not only the aliens and other humans, but also the environment and shortage of food.
I normally don’t like dystopian books, but I adored Ignite. I think what makes it so enjoyable is how Nora Phoenix never allows us to give up hope. These young men are survivors and they will survive somehow. The relationship between all three of them is a complex and dynamic thing that takes it time to bloom, but it’s so satisfying to see. I can feel the love and trust they have for each other through the pages. Plus the plot just sucked me into the story and I didn’t want to stop reading. The world building was fantastic and complicated, but still easy to understand.
Kenneth Obi did the narration for the audiobook and it was wonderful. He had to voice three young men and give them each a unique voice. I think he got their personalities down wonderfully, and the narration became a performance. I was on the edge of my seat listening to this audiobook.
Both the book and the audiobook receive a solid 5 star rating from me. I can’t wait for the entire series to be out.
This says it is a book one and it is very good, but I will admit I wanted a bit more information about why Austin, Mack and Tan were in this camp and what kind of camp it was. I would also liked to have know a bit more about the Civil war that is mentioned as well but having said that, the story is quite good.
I liked the narration and as usual Kenneth Obi gives each character a distinctive voice and brings lots of emotion to the story.
I don’t usually read dystopian or Sci-fi but I quite enjoyed this story and am waiting for the next!
I love the depth of this story. It’s suspenseful and keeps you on your toes. I feel the tension of survival and tenderness of the characters as they bond throughout the story. Waiting on pins and needles for the next installment!
This book is an amazing start to an intriguing and attention keeping new series. The story is well told and fascinating, filled with characters that are strong, loyal and caring to their true friends, and survivors. I was pulled into the story with Austin, Tan and Mack. These men had to endure so much, betrayals from people they trusted, being used by others, losing people… their story is filled with drama, adventure and slow-burn romance built from friendship and trust. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for them.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
In the vein of War of the Worlds and Jericho, Ignite is a tension-filled, sci-fi thriller that deals with the lives of three very different young men, who are brought together by a series of catastrophic events. In a reality not that much different from ours, the United States of America is now divided into three different nations, that hold different systems of beliefs and rights, the EUS (Eastern US) the CUS (Conservative US) and the WUS (Western US). Austin, Tan and Mack live in the Conservative United States, where religious extremists have made it illegal to be LGBTQ. Austin, Tan and Mack are now imprisoned in a reintegration camp, where gay, bi and trans men are supposed to be converted to heterosexuality, but are continuously being tortured and abused and assaulted by the counselors/guards. It is during an attempted assault that Austin, Tan and Mack are able to kill their guards and escape, when the staff is distracted by a meteorite shower that has knocked out all electricity and disabled all vehicles. Though Austin and Tan have been best friends for a long time during their imprisonment, they accept Mack into their group when they realize that Mack has quite a lot of knowledge and survival skills, which become pointedly necessary when the reason behind the meteor shower becomes terrifyingly evident. All over the country, humans are being attacked by alien machines, and without much to go on, Austin, Tan and Mack decide to escape to Nevada, where they hope to be safe from persecution and regroup with other people who may have more information about the alien invasion. Each young man has to come to terms with what their new reality has brought them, how to connect with their fellow survivors, how to be beneficial to their group and how to deal with their fears and anxieties, as well with their burgeoning romantic feelings for each other. Tan, a beautiful, waifish man, has to deal with his feelings of inferiority, as he deems himself the weakest link in the group, physically, as well as the trauma of being exploited by the guards at the camp, who forced him into sexual servitude in order to survive. Austin, strong and capable, has to deal with his love for Tan, a love which he feels unworthy of, since he couldn’t protect his friend from abuse. And Mack, who having been raised in a religious compound, knows nothing positive about being gay, and is afraid of what being in a relationship with his fellow survivors might bring about, and fears that it is only because of his survivals skills that he is allowed to stay with them. Their relationships and feelings develop and interactions are explored and evolve through the book, as they continue their trek to salvation. The story is engaging and fast paced, with a few surprises, although it is the first book, so there is no resolution. I expect the action and surprises will continue in the next installment, as well as the scorching romantic tension among the three men.
