One night changed an entire town. One girl changed my entire life. After she left without saying goodbye, I never expected to see her again. The fire that changed Hawk Valley was my first night on the job. She was my first save as a firefighter. But she wasn’t the first to walk out of my life without looking back. She was just another number on that list.I grew used to putting out sparks in my … used to putting out sparks in my personal life, too. But when she came back, I couldn’t stop myself from chasing after her. Just a fling, we said. But where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Of all people, I should have known that. It could never be casual with us. It was always going to become an inferno.
Until someone else put out the fire.

REVIEW: 4 SEXY STARS
“Lick. Sip. Suck. Just like a shot of tequila.”
I was so excited to jump into this book after meeting Ridge and Zoe in EMBER, so I’m excited to say that Emma Renshaw did not leave me hanging. I was a little gun-shy because I don’t like a lot of ‘out there’ drama in my books – a lot of romantic suspense has this in it, but this one, while there was some drama, it fit the storyline really well. This was an easy, smile-inducing, heartwarming read that certainly hit all the buttons for a wonderful read for me. The characters were real and down to earth. The storyline gave me some good ups and downs. I got to see some of the past characters I met previously. This book really made me smile.
Since this is a romantic suspense series – not a genre I willingly read often, I was concerned that the abundance of drama to give “excitement” would feel a bit overworked and repetitive from book to book, but she doesn’t overdo it. She didn’t disappoint with the love that is IGNITED between Ridge and Zoe either. So so good. I loved their easy banter, the way they got along and the fact that it was a natural progression with content. There were real boundaries, real emotions, and real consequences – and I loved that!! Renshaw writes such a different take on insta-love. It’s a different vibe and the tone of it is down to earth and real. The draw that Ridge and Zoe had was unmistakable, undeniable, but unavailable to one heart…that’s what drew me in.
I definitely enjoyed her easy writing style and the love she poured onto the page through her characters. The way her characters mixed and connected with each other was super sigh-worthy. Ridge is something else. Renshaw gives me good insight on the softer side of a strong man, willing to stand up for his convictions, but has a side that melts for the woman he loves. She’s brilliant at giving me that side of a strong man and I have adored it with the two men she’s introduced me to with her books so far. I am fairly new to her, so I am loving her voice and word flow.
I know I complain about drama in my reviews often, but I won’t trade good storyline for amazing love as that is one of my pet peeves, so I don’t normally overlook overdone drama – so this one was a welcome addition to my kindle, for sure. This one had some drama, but not too bad, so it was easier to read than I had anticipated. I am hoping the drama for the next one is as easy going as this one was. It always worries me because I don’t want to wade through crazy antics before I get to the amazing love she can and does present effortlessly with her stories. I have really fallen for her writing style and the ease in which she shares a love that is undeniable.
Another thing I know I can count on is the number of characters she introduced in this book, there are some stories out there waiting for me to read!! I loved that she was able to cross over some of the guys from her Vow series!! (I need to go back and finish that one!!!) I really enjoy her character introductions and the story beginnings she delivers. I honestly can’t wait to read more. I am super curious about the final two books in this series, Inferno and Smolder – there are a few characters I am waiting for stories on and I am excited to see who gets the next one.

5 “Clover” Stars
Gah! Ignite was sooooo good! I loved this second standalone novel in the Burn Series even more than the first one. There was just something magical about Zoe and Ridge! This couple was simply incredible! Their story was the right balance of swoon worthy, sensual, emotional and suspenseful moment
Zoe harbors a lot of culpability over the bonfire turned disaster that cost a lot of lives on her high school graduation celebration. She left Hawk Valley soon after this event and she’s only now, over ten years later, coming back in town to spread her aunt’s ashes. She’s soon rekindling her friendship with her BFF Makenna and all her entourage. Ridge, the man that saved her life on that fateful day is part of the group and when they meet again, a fierce attraction exists between them. They start a fling, knowing she’s not in town for a long time, but soon feelings gets involved. I absolutely adored every interaction this couple shared. From sweet, to steamy hot, to intensely moving, they left me breathless!
As a firefighter, you see Ridge’s need to protect people at every cost and I was enthralled by the way he cared deeply for Zoe. He was so determined to prove to her that she has her place back in Hawk Valley with him and their friends that are more like family. Zoe is also a really selfless person, being a geriatric nurse and having devoted her last years taking care of her sick aunt. She’s kind-hearted, but plagued by her guilt she has difficulty to move on and live her life to the fullest.
Ignite checked out all the boxes in my list! I enjoyed that in the middle of all this romantic stuff, there was also an interesting intrigue that kept me hooked at every turn. The whole cast of this series is so interesting and I’m really invested in all their own stories. I’m excited about Inferno, the next novel! Emma Renshaw is undoubtedly a new author to me I’m now addicted to.
With each book I read into this series the more I love these characters and world.
Each one is just better than the one before in a way that doesn’t take away from the previous story only adds to it. I love the way these characters’ pasts weave around each other and reconnect in the present. The way this author writes these heroes that are completely dedicated to their heroines will have you swooning!
After reading Ember I knew that Ridge had some baggage that he was still trying to maneuver. Straight out of high school, a young Ridge knew exactly what he wanted to do and wasted no time trying to follow that dream. Not only did his first official call change him but the girl (Zoe) that he met that night altered his entire world. I adored the little quirky relationship these two formed early on but I full blown LOVED their relationship years later.
If you love firefighters, broken characters that can heal each other in the process of healing themselves and an amazing friend crew that will bend over backwards for one of their own…READ THIS SERIES!!!
The way this series is written is that you can read any or all of the books. Each book is a different couple and the plot for each book surrounds one heartbreaking night that affects each character in some way. So you can read any of the books without the others but I really recommend reading the entire series to get the full effect of the entire crew.
Burn series
1. Ember
2. Ignite
3. Inferno
4. Smolder (coming April 20th)
Where do I begin? This book had me from the very beginning. I DEVOURED IT! Our heroine, Zoe returns home to Hawk Valley to carry out her Aunt’s last wishes. Hawk Valley is the last place in the world Zoe wants to be. It holds the worst memories of her past, along with living reminders that some don’t ever want to see her again. Ridge however wants nothing more than to get her to stay. His feelings haven’t changed and he just wants Zoe to admit she feels it too. In the midst of it all there are events that work against them to push Zoe away and Ridge is nothing less than determined to protect her, and win her heart once and for all.
Take the leap ya’all and fall in love with Ridge, even if I have claimed him as mine! 🙂
I didn’t think my heart could hurt again at the hands of these teens. Man, was I wrong!! Emma Renshaw has done it again; she has brought us back to the heartbreaking devastation that these teens faced and she healed another soul! Ridge didn’t only save Zoe from that fire, but saved her again years later from the wounds it caused, and she brought him the peace he was looking for too. A perfect story of heartbreak, grief, loneliness, and deep understanding. Another 5 star book in the series, and I can’t wait for more!!
Emma Renshaw just hooked me!
I’ve done it again. I’ve found another author that I adore and I can’t wait to go back and read her previous works. I’m not sure how I’ve never read Emma before because Ignite was stunning! The best part, I get to go back and read the first book in the series.
Zoe and Ridge, be still my beating heart. Ignite is a very delicate story that’s full of lots of emotions and heartache. But it’s soooo dang good. If you like stories about heartbroken pasts and dealing with the pain from what happened long ago, then you’re going to soak this story up like a sponge. No kidding! And Ridge is going to consume you with his sexiness.
Renshaw is a beautiful storyteller and I’m so glad that I decided to give it a try. The writing is magical and it’s just one of those kinds of stories that you don’t want to put down. My only regret is not reading Ember, book one, first. Now that I already know what leads up to the events in Ignite, I still can’t wait to start at the beginning. There’s more to come, though, and I’m not sure if I’m emotionally ready for what’s up next.
Great story that’ll play with your heart! Five burning stars from start to finish.
This book…WOW.
IGNITE is another phenomenally deep, emotionally-filled second chance romance by the wonderful author Emma Renshaw. This book is the second book in the Burn series (book one is EMBER…absolute MUST READ!) and follows the tragic graduation night bonfire. This is an intense read with a fantastic storyline filled with mystery, romance, small town drama, bullying, forgiveness, moving on, and family. The characters in this book are all so incredible! Ridge…geez! New BBF??? Possibly!
The passing of a wonderful aunt brings Zoe Boswell back to her hometown and her first responder…who she fled from 11 years ago, without even a goodbye.
When Ridge sees the woman with the clover colored eyes, he knew his first rescue as a fire fighter was back in Hawk Valley…but he didn’t know what deeply rooted guilt and remorse she was harboring.
I didn’t want to put this down…not for sleep…not for work…not for responsibility! LOL. I devoured this book that is full of twists and I whole heartedly recommend it and cannot wait for the next book in the series…Inferno! 5 stars!
What a fantastic book. Love this Emma’s book so much and this series is becoming my favorite of hers.
After a tragedy in Hawk Valley that affected so many lives, Zoe Boswell left and swore that she would never return.
Now after 11 years she is back to fulfill her Aunt Georgia’s last wish.
Zoe’s guilt about the tragedy is so big. My heart broke for her.
Ridge Sanders had never forgotten Zoe. His first rescue and the girl who left without saying goodbye.
This book is so beautiful written. The chemistry between Zoe and Ridge was amazing.
It gave me so many feelings while reading it and didn’t want it to end.
Love the epilogue so much.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
My Rating:
What an absolutely phenomenal story!! Zoe is back in town after all of these years to honor her aunt’s last wishes. Being back home is bittersweet but she has immense guilt after what had happened so many years ago and how the fire changed everyone lives especially her own. Ridge has always had feelings for Zoe so when he sees her back in town, he seizes the chance to spend some time with her and reconnecting. The connection and the intense chemistry they shared a lifetime ago is still there and hasn’t faded with time at all. Zoe can’t deny the feelings that Ridge makes her feel but can only promise him a short fling cause she isn’t staying in Hawk Valley at all. Of course things change and deeper feelings develop but there is someone lurking in the shadows that doesn’t want Zoe to find happiness with Ridge at all. Can they figure out who is behind all of the incidents before someone gets hurt? What an amazing story!! I was hooked from the very first page and didn’t want to see it end. I laughed, cried, swooned, and fanned myself during the very hot steamy moments (my man Ridge has a very dirty mouth lol) This is a story that will make you feel all of the emotions and I can’t wait for the next book in this amazing series…well done!!!
So if you read book 1 you were left wanting more like me. (This book can be read all on its own with no issues.) I devoured this one in a day! Work got in the way of me reading in one sitting or that would have happened. (I’m not joking!)
Ridge and Zoe did not disappoint! Like the first story, this one ‘starts’ the night of the fire. Zoe believes she started the fire and has allowed the guilt to eat at her for 11 years. While back in town for two days to spread the ashes of the woman who raised her, she sees Ridge again. What starts as a fling begins to feel like more. Too bad someone wants her gone. Or maybe dead??? Hmmm…
I loved this one! I loved these main characters and enjoyed all the supporting characters. I can hardly wait for Colt and Foster to get their happily ever afters! Great, well written story!
Since he is a firefighter it’s fitting that Ridge is so freaking HOT! This man is so swoon-worthy and he falls fiercely in love with Zoe after their agreed-upon fling. Zoe has big plans to start her life over after following through on her aunt’s last wishes but how could she walk away from Ridge a second time? Do yourself a favor and read this book (& everything else of Emma Renshaw’s)! You will love these characters and feel right at home with this wonderful world of friends! I almost forgot to mention the suspense, twists and mystery in these pages… it will pull you all the way in!
Ignite is more than your typical “boy meets girl, couple falls in love” book. This is a raw, unfiltered look at the complexities of loss and the feelings that come with it with some romance and steamy sex scenes thrown in.
Like every Emma Renshaw book, Ignite has bits of the author sprinkled in. The themes of loss and grief are so vivid and written in a way that only someone who has felt the agony of losing someone can do. The rawness and the pure emotion lent itself to the overall story and made the characters come to life. I felt Zoe’s loss, her hurt and her confusion. I also felt Ridge’s devotion, his loyalty and his love for Zoe. The two of them together did wonders for my heart.
As always, I can’t wait to read whatever else Emma has to give us. I’ll be waiting (im)patiently to lose myself in her mind for a few hours.
Every time I finish an Emma Renshaw book I think this one is my favorite, but seriously, Ignite is incredible!! I think Ridge is my new favorite book boyfriend! He’s so dreamy and definitely made me swoon. Sweet alpha males really are my favorite!
Emma’s stories are so beautiful because they are full of such love and hope. I love how her characters grow together and learn from each other.
I think my favorite part is seeing all my beloved characters from her other stories appear in the background. I miss them so it’s fun to see where they are in their own storylines. I never want her stories to end. I’m always so sad to be done and cannot wait for the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I love these story. I couldn’t put the book down. Ridge and Zoe have panty melting heat and passion. Great characters that pull you into their stories. The story flowed effortlessly with a few twists and turns that well keep you glued from start to finish. This story is suspense-filled and it has drama and will pull at your heartstrings.
Obsessed with this new series from Emma! The night of the fire shaped the survivors lives, and both Ridge and Zoe are no exception. Zoe was Ridge’s first fire and first save, and that caused a special bond between them. Zoe on the other hand felt extreme guilt not only for surviving but also for feeling that she caused the fire itself. Once she was recovered enough, she disappeared without telling anyone she was leaving, and left Ridge at a loss. Years later, after the death of her aunt/guardian, Zoe returns back to town and while she hopes to be there and gone quickly, doesn’t end up that way. Ridge and Zoe end up reconnecting and they get to act on the feelings they established so many years ago, while they also feed off of each other and their emotions. But the longer Zoe stays in town, the more freak accidents start to happen and target the people Zoe cares about the most. Even though she has strong feelings for Ridge, she wants to keep everyone safe and unharmed. The ending was a huge shock but also some parts were expected, and I couldn’t get enough of the book! I can’t wait to see who’s next in this series – there is so much left unresolved for the survivors of the fire and their HEA!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Oh.my.god. When I tell you this book took my breath away I mean it. Two people with a broken sad past come together. Talk about fire! This book was just amazingly written and explained. This book made me so emotional reading it I just couldn’t hold back my tears. If you ever need a tear jerker this book with do the trick! This book left me shocked and obsessed.
Ignite was the first book I have read by Emma Renshaw. The blurb was very intriguing so I was excited to get started. Ignite is a small town romance with a bit of suspense thrown in. Ridge is on his first day as a firefighter when he saves Zoe’s life. He checks on her everyday for two weeks until she leaves town unexpectedly. Zoe has just graduated now high school when the fire that changes her life breaks out. She feels immense guilt and remorse so she moves away for several years. When she returns for a brief visit she runs in to Ridge and they form a friendship that soon turns to more. I really enjoyed both characters. Ridge was an amazing hero and Zoe was was tough, independent woman. Both had rough childhoods and both overcame those obstacles. I devoured this story as quickly as I could and can’t wait to read another book from this author. I plan to go back and read book one on the series ASAP. I highly recommend this story to everyone who enjoys a well written small town romance.
I love this series! This book was so entertaining and grabbed me in right away. I really love Ridge. Emma Renshaw is a master at a hero. I love how Zoe and Ridge get to know one another and allow themselves to grow. There were a few moments I did get a tad worried, but trusting Emma as I do, I knew they would work out beautifully and they did. I highly recommend all of her books!
Another amazing story in this series full of heartache, love, steam, and passion. I couldn’t put it down but at the same tome I didn’t want it to end. My heart ached for Zoe because she carried around so much guilt that was not her fault at all but she couldn’t seem to accept that so she felt undeserving of ever staying or going back to her hometown. Yet she finds herself going back years later to fulfill a promise she made to her that raised her and she runs into Ridge the firefighter that saved her life. Ridge came from a rough life early on he struggled with people leaving him but he also grew up to be an amazing man that loved to help others. These two had an immediate attraction but time and circumstances tore them apart and now they are trying to figure things out but Zoe is set on leaving town and never returning again and someone doesn’t want her back in town. Can they let go of past insecurities to make things work or will they let them tear them apart? Will this person after Zoe accomplish running her off or will she stay and fight?
