Theo MacLeod wasn’t supposed to be the one.Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn’t have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend. He wasn’t supposed to kiss me. My heart wasn’t supposed to pound. We weren’t supposed to spend the night together—the hottest night of my life. One … together—the hottest night of my life.
One night turns into a snowed-in weekend away, and even the blizzard of the century can’t cool the fire between us. I can’t get enough—of his smile, of his body, of the way he makes me feel.
We’re nothing alike. He’s a daredevil, and I’m a nervous Nellie. He’s a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He’s an opportunist with a checkered past, and I’m a Girl Scout volunteer.
But none of it matters when I’m in his arms.
I know he’s made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn’t trust easily. I know he doesn’t believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could.
All he has to do is stay.

If I could give this book 6 stars, I would.
I have seriously written and deleted my review a dozen times. Why? Because I feel that the words won’t do justice to this book. If You Were Mine made me feel so many things. I loved the sexy scenes, good grief were they HOT. The emotions rooted in both characters are so deep you feel like they’re yours as well. Theo and Claire are my list of favorite couples.
Theo and Claire are opposites. One is a risk taker, the other likes to play it safe. One wants to put roots down, the other is a drifter. Can’t be in one place for too long. One believes that love grounds you, the other… the other doesn’t know what love looks like. But while the opposites separate them, their sexual chemistry balances out their differences.
This whole book was amazing. From start to finish you see the characters grow. I personally love that Ms. Harlow creates characters with real life struggles. Romance stories with real problems, real solutions. It’s hard NOT to love it.
I highly recommend If You Were Mine. I also HIGHLY recommend you read the two stories before so you can see how this friendship has grown.

After We Fall
“I want to go back in time and hug you. Protect you. Rescue you. Change your life so that none of the bad stuff would happen.”
Oh God, me too Claire, me too!
It should come as no surprise that I have a major girl crush on Melanie Harlow. Frenched was the first book I bought when I finally broke down and purchased myself a Kindle, and I’ve been a fan ever since. She has such a way of writing these wonderfully believable and relatable characters that I just cannot get enough of- I want to be their friends, part of their families, I want to infiltrate their lives! She’s an automatic one-click author for me, I don’t even need to read a synopsis to know I am going to completely adore each and every one of her books. And let me just tell you, I adored If You Were Mine!
I absolutely loved Theo and Claire’s story. From their first tense meeting to that tear-inducing epilogue, and every moment in between…such a passionate and intense love affair! Theo is this tough, broken, beautiful man- a drifter with a troubled past, with no thoughts of ever settling down. Claire is sweet and lovely, compassionate, caring- a believer in fairytales and happily ever afters. You’d never expect these two to have such a fiery and emotional connection, but their chemistry is undeniable.
Theo doesn’t believe he deserves someone as kind and as warmhearted as Claire. His past has colored everything about the way he lives his life. Frustrating at times, Theo will steal your heart even as he breaks it. Claire has her own set of issues and insecurities and those definitely come into play as her relationship with Theo develops and her feelings for him grow.
Oh the push and pull with Theo! Wanting to love and be loved, but fighting it every step of the way. He was so good with Claire, getting her to open up and step out of her comfort zone. Even as they grow closer, his demons at times still overshadowed all the good between them and it was heartbreaking to see them have to go through those tough times.
So many emotions come into play throughout this book. You’ll be pulled in so many different directions as you spend time with Claire and Theo. Your heart will ache, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry. If You Were Mine is so heartfelt, so sweet, so fun, and oh so sexy. Once again Ms. Harlow has written a book that has grabbed my heart and will stay in my mind.
