(This is a “Sequel Series” to the Jack Turner Suspense Series – picks right up after Book 4 but can easily be read first)In Book 1 of the new Joe Boyd Suspense Series, Lt. Joe Boyd and his partner Hank Jensen have been tasked with creating a brand new Cold Case Squad for the Culpepper Police Department. Hoping to garner some much-needed positive publicity, their captain asks them to solve a … solve a string of unsolved murders from the 1980’s. Before they get far, Joe is interrupted with an alarming request from his good friend, Professor Jack Turner. Jack and Rachel believe they have stumbled upon evidence of a horrific crime dating back to the early 60’s, when their lake front house was built. Now it looks like Joe’s first case—instead of creating good publicity—might expose a terrible scandal involving a prominent Culpepper family’s ugly secret, one they’ve managed to keep hidden for over 50 years.

Dan Walsh is always delivering good, satisfying, well-written stories with relate able characters which involve your intellect and imagination. His novels are so real and identifiable that you forget that it’s a novel.
I love a good mystery & this one knocks it out of the park. It is unbelievable what Mr. Walsh thought of in this mystery. It is so well done I had to keep reading until the end. It’s the first book by Mr. Walsh & I will be reading more.
Enjoyed this book it was interesting and was a page turner.
Great story
Such a relevant and important topic. I couldn’t put the book down. I highly recommend it. I love the way Dan Walsh writes.
Dan Walsh’s books are easy to read, but I really like the process of getting to the end of the mystery. This book was very appropriate for the days we are living in.
I always enjoy books in this series.
Moving story of injustice done to black male in the 1960s during civil rights upheaval. His death is avenged by unwavering man who finally figures our what happened decades ago to an innocent attempting to come to the aid of his white friend sympathizer. who was also active in civil rights movement. Abhorrent times and story told with truth and understanding.
A good read, totally enjoyable.
Great story about a couple that buy a lake home and plan a remodel. While tearing out walls, found letters scratched in the wood. Who put them there and when?? The mystery begins. Loved reading this story. Thank you
oh, wow! Yes. Read it!
This is a great, easy read. Makes you think.
This book made the racial hatred of the past feel real and personal. Feelings have changed a lot since the 60’s but MLK’s dream is not fulfilled yet.
Love Dan Walsh’s books. This was great and loved the history that was brought into it.
Well written, good story line.
Skillfully done.
I enjoy Dan Walsh books. While I thought the premise in this one was a bit unbelievable, it was still a good read with a thought provoking look at the south in the 60’s.
I liked this book so muck, I bought the next one and also 4 other books of his. He also write wonderful stories about dogs
This was an excellent book though heartbreaking. I really enjoyed reading it and Dan Walsh is one of my favorite authors.
I really loved this book because the history of black people has always infuriated me in the realization that back in the day, the majority of slaves were treated so harshly. I loved that there were those who wanted a better life and worked hard for it only to be treated again with cruelty on their family’s ‘take of how it should be’. It was smart move for Whitney to carve out what happened in the boards so justice would be served.
