(This is a “Sequel Series” to the Jack Turner Suspense Series – picks right up after Book 4 but can easily be read first)In Book 1 of the new Joe Boyd Suspense Series, Lt. Joe Boyd and his partner Hank Jensen have been tasked with creating a brand new Cold Case Squad for the Culpepper Police Department. Hoping to garner some much-needed positive publicity, their captain asks them to solve a … solve a string of unsolved murders from the 1980’s. Before they get far, Joe is interrupted with an alarming request from his good friend, Professor Jack Turner. Jack and Rachel believe they have stumbled upon evidence of a horrific crime dating back to the early 60’s, when their lake front house was built. Now it looks like Joe’s first case—instead of creating good publicity—might expose a terrible scandal involving a prominent Culpepper family’s ugly secret, one they’ve managed to keep hidden for over 50 years.

What a fascinating story. It got off to a slow start, but by Chapter 13 I was hooked. Racism during the 1960s, non-violent protests and pure bigotry, plus a mystery of who left cryptic words on construction materials. The characters were well-drawn and the mystery is so compelling.
Solving a cold case crime is an adventure that requires a bit of luck. The solving of this cold case crime would hold the interest of most any reader. I enjoyed reading this book. I usually do enjoy any book written by Dan Walsh.
I was totally absorbed in this story and its characters. One of the best books I have read this year
I love anything that Dan Walsh writes. He is one of my favorite authors.
Don’t miss this one! A really clever, well-written story.
I like clean mysteries. This one was a cut above many. I would read more, but I have to look for free or .99!
I love crime and mysteries. This was a very good one connecting to the 60’s and the way life was then.
Uncovering clues as the story goes on keeps it interesting. Good read overall.
I always like Dan Walsh’s books! This one addressed the parallels between our society in 1800s America and today, how we treat those who look different f from us. Is it so different now? Have we really improved?
I’ve read lots of Mr. Walsh’s books and enjoyed every one. Well done, Dan Walsh.
Kept me reading to find out what really happened . A little disappointed it ended without following through and tying all the ends up.
Great read. Brings me back to a time when I grew up in Louisiana, seeing the beginning of racial change. As a Caucasian, I’m thankful for these changes. Shows how important it is how parents raise their children concerning racial differences. With all the changes though, it’s sad today that radical people in the background can destroy what has been accomplished through many years. What a time for me to read this book in our nation’s timetable.
I personally have liked every book by this author. I don’t think I read this in the order that it was written. It was still good.
One of my new favorite authors! Engaging and well written!
This is a fascinating mystery. The mystery begins with a cryptic message carved into some 2 x 4’s, leading to a 60 year old cold case. The story takes us back in time to the Civil Rights Movement of the mid 1960’s, switching between the story of the past and the present day mystery. I found the story gripping from the beginning, and had a hard time putting it down. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
It was a book that I couldn’t put down. It linked the past to the present in a terrific way.
I really enjoyed this book. Well written.
This author really has a wonderful way with plots. I love the characters and the interesting way stories seem to flow naturally. Great, great story!
Loved the history woven in with the mystery.
Dan Walsh is one of my favorite writers. I love history, mystery, suspense and throw in some romance; you have all this in Walsh’s writing. I am in my fourth book by Walsh and he never disappoints. This book, If These Walls Could Talk, touched my heart and soul. I am a Southern and proud of it but not so proud of some of our history especially during the time of segregation. This is a realistic-like fiction novel. I love the ongoing stories including characters such as Jack, Joe, Hank and Rachel.
