A LESSON IN SEDUCTION . . . Miranda Hodgkins has only ever wanted one thing: to marry Robert Carlisle. And she simply can’t wait a moment longer. During the Carlisle family masquerade ball, Miranda boldly sneaks into his bedchamber with seduction on her mind. Soon she’s swept into rock-hard arms for the most breathtaking kiss of her life. But when the masks come off, she’s horrified to find … off, she’s horrified to find herself face-to-face with Sebastian, the Duke of Trent-Robert’s formidable older brother.
Shocked to find Miranda in his bed, Sebastian quickly offers her a deal to avoid scandal: He’ll help her win his brother’s heart if she’ll find him the perfect wife. But what begins as a simple negotiation soon spirals out of control. For the longer this reformed rake tries to make a match for Miranda, the more he wants to keep her all to himself.
Capturing the CarlislesIf the Duke DemandsWhen the Scoundrel SinsAs the Devil Daresmore
My favorite from this author
Read it in one sitting. I haven’t read a historical romance this good in a long time.
This is the story that warms you up with wickedness, teases you with (sexual) tension and caveman behaviour by our beloved hero, and in the end makes you feel blisfully complete.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one in the line.
Book one in the new Capturing the Carlisles series. How have I not read any books by this author before? She is incredible. We start by meeting Miranda as she sneaks into the room of the brother that she has had a crush on for years only to find out at the wrong moment that it is the older ones room not the ones she was looking for. Before their identities were known (masks are involved) things went far enough for Sebastian to notice that Miranda is no longer a young girl. Instead she has blossomed into a beauty that he cannot help but think about. The two make a deal with each other where she will help him find a wife and he will help her get noticed by his brother. Unfortunately what they have not realized is that they really love each other so all of their endeavors are doomed to failure. It was great reading about these two getting it all wrong and fighting their feelings. The development is smooth and there is just enough drama to keep the reader interested. I had a hard time putting the book down once I got started and I highly recommend it to fans of historical romances. I give it 4/5 stars.
This is the first book in Anna Harrington’s new trilogy about the Carlisle brothers. I will say I am a big fan of Anna Harrington’s other series and I am so happy she has started writing another series. I cant wait for book 2 of the series. I really enjoyed Miranda’s determination to marry Robert Carlisle and she takes action on her own even if it ended up not working out. Sebastian is fun considering what happened at the beginning. I could not even put the book down I stayed up late to finish.
A truly charming and entertaining read. Anna Harrington’s If The Duke Demands is book one of the Capturing The Carlisles. This is an emotional and beautiful love story that focuses on Miranda And Sebastian. Miranda has been in love with Robert Carlisles for years. Despairing of him ever noticing her; she decides to take drastic action and hatches a plan. Her plan to sneak into his room and seduce him takes an unexpected turn when she realizes that she is in his older brother Sebastian’s bedroom instead. This brings our main characters together and they agree to help each other obtain what they want. Both of these characters touched my heart. Miranda, an orphan at a young age, never feels good enough and is always trying to help people regardless of the trouble it gets her into. Sebastian, now the Duke after the accident that killed his Father suffers under the responsibilities of his position and overwhelming guilt from disappointing his Father ad not being there when he died. This guilt and his response to it sometimes made him unlikable and even cruel. However, I thought it was very real and was written very well and in the end I just felt really bad for him. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a love story that will move you, characters that engage your emotions and a story that grabs you from the start. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
loved!!!
