Take a deep breath and hold on for dear life. That’s what I had to do when reading this novel. Terri Blackstock is at the top of her game here.
I listened to the audio version of If I Run and loved it. So well written, and the narrator did a great job. I’m eager to listen to the other two in the series and see what will happen to Casey and Dillon!
This is the start of a great new series by Terri Blackstock! Well written!
I really enjoyed this book! The storyline was great and action-packed and the characters were very well developed. Definitely a page turner. Be warned, though, this is basically a to be continued (2 more books) – so plan accordingly because you’re going to need to read the other two 🙂
I just finished this series by Terri Blackstock. I love the mystery with just a hint of romance near the end of the last book.
This was a new author for me, and I usually don’t like the ‘series’ that doesn’t wrap up at least a part of the story by the end of the book. In this 3 part series, there were enough likeable characters for me to be satisfied at the end of this section of the story as I waited to read book two and FINALLY book 3, If I Live.
Loved this entire series. Couldn’t put it down. I listened to it on my way to work and read it when I got home. EXCELLENT!
Oh my gosh!! This is outstanding! You have to read the entire series as it doesn’t conclude until book 3. This is one to go into the re-read category!
Love this series. Everything she writes is excellent.
Really liked this series
Casey Cox’s world is turned upside down when she finds her best friend murdered, and within seconds she realizes that someone has set her up to take the fall for their crime. Knowing the police will be no help to her, since they have failed her in the past before, she decides the only logical thing for her to do now is run. Soon after she sets out on her journey, and things about her friends murder begin to get pieced together she realizes that the past she has tried so hard to let go of is once again reeking havoc on her life! Now she must decide if she is going to continue to run from her past, and stand up fight back…
When news of his friends murder hits his ears Dylan Roberts wants to help in any way he can, he wants to see the killer caught and punished for taking the life of his friend. So, when his friends family informs him that the local police department has limited resources and the killer has fled town, he offers up his services, and soon finds himself chasing down the woman accused of murdering his friend. He starts digging into the murder’s past, but the more he digs the more he realizes things aren’t quite what they seem, and someone is willing to go to great lengths to keep her from bringing the truth to light!
This spine-tingling read captured my attention from the very first page, and held it captive right up and until the last page was swiped… it was so addictive, I just could not put it down! This was my first read from this author and I have to say she made quite the first impression, her inventive story line kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, and now I can’t wait to get my hands on the second installment in the series to see how it will all end!! If you like your reads packed with edge of your seat action, and brimming with breath taking mystery then I highly suggest you give this one a try, it’s sure to have you completely riveted from the first page!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
I’ve read almost every book she has written and this book was amazing. As with all her books, I didn’t want to put it down. Great characters and very easy to get involved in the storyline. Action packed and keeps you on edge to the very end and looking forward to the next book.
I absolutely LOVED this book. This is my first book that I’ve read from this Author and I plan to read many, many more. In fact, this is the first book in a 3 book series and I can’t wait to start book 2, “If I’m Found.” It is very suspenseful and I love how she keeps the characters believable. It’s so refreshing too, to read a Christian fiction mystery where the characters learn to turn their lives over to the Lord and the reader sees how He helps the lead characters out in their predicaments. Thank you, Terri, for a GREAT book series!!
I could not put this book down!
The 3 book series was amazing! I couldn’t stop reading until I had finished in less than 2 days!
This story made me think of everyday lives, where people ARE accused and foynd guilty of things they haven’t done. Then the main character does the unthinkable. She boldly saves someone elses life with no regard to her own trouble with the law. The author kindly reminds us that GOD wants us to believe in his love and to help others believe also.
love all of terri blackstocks books they are excellent reads
I have loved everything that I’ve read by Terri Blackstock. She is one of my favorite mystery/suspense writers. I have found her storylines to be unique, not plots that I feel like I’ve read time and time again in one mystery novel after another. If I Run is no exception. When I finished, all I could say at first was, “Wow, wow, wow!” And then, “I need the next book NOW!”
Warning: Some people may consider some of the following info to be spoilers. Although, I don’t reveal anything specific from the book, I have included my thoughts about the story and the characters which goes a little beyond what’s revealed in the synopsis of the book.
If I Run had me hooked from the start! It’s a storyline that has probably been done many times—someone on the run for a crime they didn’t commit with crooked cops involved. However, Ms. Blackstock does it in an uncommon and engrossing way. Rather than writing the story in the usual third person, she has written it in two first person perspectives. The first perspective being that of Casey Cox, the girl on the run, and the second being Dylan Robert’s, the man tasked to find her and bring her in. I loved that the story was written from their first person points of view. It gave the effect of feeling like you’re inside their heads, reading their thoughts, and facing their struggles with them instead of just reading about those things as they happen to someone else.
Being inside Casey’s head as she thinks through steps to survive and then acts on them is intriguing. I loved discovering more about her as the book progressed, both through what her thoughts revealed and what Dylan uncovers about her. She’s in search of survival and justice as well as answers from a God she wonders even exists.
Dylan himself has his own personal struggles he’s dealing with as he’s asked to figure out where Casey is and go after her to bring her in. Trying to think like her and learn where she might be, causes Dylan to start asking questions. When things don’t add up with what Casey’s been accused of and what he’s learned about Casey Cox from her friends and family, Dylan is caught in the middle, not knowing who to trust and quite what to do.
For those of you who like things tied up all neat and tidy at the end of a book, I must warn you that it doesn’t happen that way with this one. The story is far from resolved and the next book will need to be read in order to find out more. I typically don’t like books like that, but this one is so well done that I loved it and can’t wait to read the next one!
**I was provided a ecopy of the book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This series was great! Love her books.
Very smartly written. Couldnt put it down.
