Little by little, stop after stop, three-year-old Danny Becker wanders further from his inattentive, overworked dad on a San Francisco subway car. In the rush of people stepping onto and off the train Danny is bumped to the platform when the doors close behind him. Strange, strong hands carry him away.As the train leaves the station, Danny’s frantic father searches the moving car in vain.Danny … vain.
Danny Becker’s abduction evokes the unsolved murder of a toddler, Tanita Donner, the previous year, resurrecting the city’s anguish.
Tom Reed, a disgraced reporter with The San Francisco Star, pursues the new abduction. But he is tormented by the fear that he may have caused the suicide of an innocent man suspected of murdering Tanita Donner a year ago. His editor wants him fired. His wife has left him to wrestle with his demons. His life coming apart, the Danny Becker story is Reed’s last chance at redemption.
The lead investigator on the Donner case is one of Reed’s only remaining friends, San Francisco Homicide Inspector, Walt Sydowski, an outstanding detective and lonely widower haunted by the fact he cannot solve the girl’s heartbreaking death.
Both men grapple with the past while they race the clock to learn the truth behind the nightmare that has descended on the Bay Area.
IF ANGELS FALL, is the first book of the award-winning five-book Tom Reed – Walt Sydowski series. It is followed by COLD FEAR, BLOOD OF OTHERS, NO WAY BACK and BE MINE.

Format: Kindle Edition
Good characters living their lives. Really crazy bad guy, but what? The rest of the story made sense. It was ok.
I have read 2 of Rick Mofina’s books. I enjoyed both of them.
Good story premise but the author changed facts as he got into the story. Made a statement early on that he changed later. Story got convoluted and I bagged it.
I really liked this book. Lots of twists/turns…it kept me up late trying to finish it. I appreciated that the author didn’t use many cuss words like so many others.
Excellent
Tons of action, realistic drama with superb character development, with a happy ending
The Asian-American heroine is witty sharp and savvy.
Have fun reading this one
Not a book I enjoyed.
so perhaps when you are swamped with work, albeit fabulous, it might not behoove you to start a rick mofina… i knew this and did it anyway! you stay up past your bed time absorbed in each page as it flies by. ha! good thing i am a fast reader, as less than a week later, 477 pages devoured and i still finished my commissioned oil painting. …
I love all of Rick Mofina’s books and especially enjoy new stories with favorite characters.
Good read. Kept my interest the whole way..I read it while exercising on a treadmill and it made the time go swiftly by.
Awesome!
Want to say it was “dated” but then again, it was published before cell phones came on the market. Good story. The author lets you know who did it. You still have to read to the very last word to see how it breaks down though.
Still busy reading this book but highly readable. A page turner
