Libby
I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.
He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him … on taking him away?
Killian
As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.
Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse —and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.
The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

Idol is the first in Kristen Callihan’s VIP series about the four members of the rock band Kill John, their manager and team. It takes place after the band, has found major success and stardom and after one of the four, Jax, has tried to commit suicide as a result of depression. His action triggers a period of reevaluation for everyone and even when the band gets back together, life is different. I absolutely loved the first three books and can’t wait for the rest. I really felt I was getting the inside track on the life of a rock band, the highs and lows, ups and downs. Thus far I have held off from visiting iTunes to look for their albums and download their signature song Apathy but I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to hold out. Idol is Killian and Libby’s story. It’s sassy, romantic and glorious. Enjoy.
Loved the first book of this series–there is some serious slow-burn and then plenty of fireworks. It’s rock n’ roll, sure, but it’s also SO much more.
Loved, loved, loved! Libby is incredibly funny, and yet her struggle touches your heart. Killian is sexy and cocky, the band has great chemistry, and I stayed up till 3 a.m. to read the entire book in one sitting. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
I could see this becoming a rom-com that I’d watch again and again! Bonus for awesome musical references.
I so loved this book ,it was everything i wanted and more !
Omg i so am swooning over Killian 🙂 he’s funny, sweet, caring and hot ,omg he is perfection 🙂 i loved how he first meets Libby ,i mean it was pretty funny when she splashed him with the hose to wake him up because he was passed out on her lawn ! the banter that passes back and forth between them is the best ,i loved the nicknames they call each other 🙂 i really liked that Killian pushed Libby to put herself out there more and to come out of her shell ,it was sweet how much he believed in her and wanted what was best even if that meant that he had to give her up ! he thought if you love someone let them go but then he saw that was bullsh!t ! and decided to fight for them 🙂
I loved Libby ,i mean she doesn’t take sh!t from anyone and she totally doesn’t even know who Killian is and that was pretty great, she got to know him for him and not the super rocker he lets everyone else see ,she was able to help him get passed his guilt and he did the same for her ,they have this love/hate thing going but its really just a cover because they both want each other in a bad way (wink wink) and they finally give in and holy smokes they light the pages on fire !!! i mean whew i’m fanning myself as i type this 🙂 i loved that she was able to push herself out of her comfort zone , i mean its really easy to get set in a pattern and just let life go by , but meeting Killian changed everything ,she saw how alone she really was and letting him in was the wake up call she needed 🙂 i loved all the hot intense moments and all the sweet ones too 🙂
One of my favorite moments in this book is when Killian walks into their hotel room and Libby is trying to kill a Moth and Killian freaks out because he is scared of them 🙂 i am the same way ,those things are evil!!!
Overall i loved this book ,its awesome and i am in love with Kristen Callihan’s writing and i can’t wait to read more of her books 🙂
Let’s throw down some truth here. I typically don’t like nor read rock star romances. I don’t really know why I shy away from them – music is a big part of my life. Maybe that’s why? Music can be too real and I don’t want to be disappointed by how someone else handles it? But that’s neither here nor there, as I, in fact, did read this book…about a rock star.
And I loved every minute of it.
Libby and Killian’s relationship felt so real to me. It was angsty and emotional and funny and…what word am I looking for…normal, to me. There were times I nearly laughed out loud while reading (I only restrained myself because I was in the cafeteria at work on my lunch break and thought I’d look like a crazy person – “Yes, I’m sitting in a booth by myself and laughing. What’s it to you???”).
Kristen Callihan has a way with words that just resonates with me.
What took me so long to read Idol because it was such a fantastic read. Killian and Libby were a stunning pair who pulled at my heart strings with all the feels and emotion. I loved how they started off on the wrong foot but was ultimately the best thing that happened to the both of them. They’ve found each other, shared a connection and became each other’s lifeline. It was truly beautiful how their love revived each other and gave them hope. And while their relationship were not all that easy, hitting a few bumps along the way, it definitely made them stronger in the end.
I really enjoyed this book!
This was a wonderful surprise. I’ve read my fair share of rockstar romances so I was very excited to read Idol since the blurb totally sold me on it.
I was hooked from the moment Killian crashed on Liberty’s lawn and what transpired from there. I was instantly intrigued by Liberty’s “hermit” life and Killian’s “rockstar” persona. They both surprised me by being nothing what I thought they were.
Liberty lived a solitary life but her language didn’t reflect that. She was feisty, honest and a fantastic woman. Killian appearance represented rockstar but when Liberty took him in he was nothing of the sort. He was funny, intelligent, sweet and sexy as hell. I loved their friendship and slow building romance. It gave them time to get to know each other for who they truly were. Their chemistry was palpable and when they finally acknowledged their feelings sparks literally flew between them. I loved how they both brought out different sides of one another. They changed each other’s life for the better!
Killian’s band mates were great characters and gave the story more substance. I also enjoyed the musical references since I’m all about that era.
I loved Callihan’s Game On series but she definitely also pulled off the rockstar genre. I was entertained from start to finish and the writing was flawless. This was a great summer read!

Re-reading to get ready for Jax’s story. Still love Killian and Liberty. Can’t wait to see more from them in Fall. It’s going to be EPIC!!
I’m beginning to think Kristen Callihan couldn’t write a bad book even if she tried. Killian has just climbed to the top of my book boyfriend list. The opening scene between Lawn Bum and Elly May grabbed my attention and never let go. The banter between all the characters was perfect, the music brought back a lot of memories and I can’t wait to read Scottie’s story.
I’m still hoping that we can some day hear Liberty’s version of “The Man in the Box.”
I read this book sometime in 2019 but I realized that the next installment is coming out so I decided a reread of this series is necessary. And oddly, I forgot to review the first time around. So, here we go. And it was wonderful. I’m a huge fan of Kristen Callihan, loving her sports romances but I really loved this rock star romance so much. The reason is because I really felt that the transition of both Liberty and Killian from damaged to healed because of their relationship with each other and more importantly, with themselves, was so well written and represented through the book. The meet cute was fantastic (as much as a drunken meeting could be) and the progression from neighbors to friends to lovers was great. Their relationship progressed at a realistic clip and I loved how the author introduced the other people in the band (as well as their manager as well). I will be rereading the other books in this series and I can’t wait to get entrenched again in the VIP world.
4.5
Let me just say that no word is good enough for me to describe how AMAZING this book truly is. There are so many things that I want to express the emotions that this book has brought to me but I couldn’t find the right words to describe it. Like seriously, I couldn’t stop reading it. It was a total page-turner and it took me one whole seating to finish the entire book.
Long story short, this book is about a lead star singer named Killian who decided to escape his famous life which brings him to become neighbors with our dear heroine Libby. At first, they didn’t have a great start because of Killian’s drunken state, but soon they found out that they shared the same passion. This eventually leads them to spend more time with each other which later caused them to develop feelings for one another.
Now, I seriously adore Killian & Libby. I just love their chemistry and connection with one another. All their moments are just sweet yet emotional at the same time. I even liked the side characters because each of them has their own interesting traits that I can’t wait to discover more about.
Overall, this book is extremely enjoyable and I think that Kristen has done an excellent job in delivering this story. I think that everything was well written with great development. If you want to read a rockstar romance that will get you hooked from the beginning till the end, then this book is for you!
A good beginning to what I think will be a great rockstar series
How amazing is it to read a book where the chemistry between the main characters jumps out of the pages. It’s FREAKEN AMAZING. That’s how amazing it is.
This was my first book by this author and I’ve been blown away by her way with words.
My heart wanted to leave my chest throughout the book. It skipped and twitched. And I swooned galore.
This was such a beautiful story. Loved it.
The buildup was perfection… some might say slow burn but I say it was a good burn.
I finished this book with the biggest smile on my face and the happiest of hearts
Libby is seriously sick. The hottest man ever has mangled her front yard. Just gross. He has gotten sick, made her feel bad, and thoroughly disgusted her. How is this possible?
Killian is so glad to be anonymous, knowing it will not last. For the time being his neighbor slash enemy is avoiding him. He cannot stop looking her way. He may have to get to know her better.
This book starts out with such fun angst. There is so much humor, and the laughs keep coming. Until the heat kicks in. Then it is all heat and spark. Between these two, you can feel it lifting off the page and seriously almost burning me as the reader. I was fully impressed. I cannot wait to read the next book in this sexified series.
I read this on a recommendation, and absolutely loved it. Killian is a wonderful hero, full of life and so genuine, he really comes off the page. I also have a bit of a thing for grumpy characters with hearts of gold, so I loved that aspect of Liberty Bell. Idol is emotional, sweet, steamy, and the kind of book that makes you want to sneak chapters in wherever you can during your day.
Idol is the first book in the VIP Series by Kristen Callihan.
“In that instant, I am God. Omnipotent. Endless. Nothing—nothing— on Earth gives a charge like this. Nothing compares. This is life.”
Oh. My. Gaaahhh. This was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have possibly have asked for anything more. This was a rock star romance. This was such an intense romance and will have your heart beating out of your chest. There were massive angst, but this gave the story more meaning and dept. It was beautifully broken. It was beyond addicting. I highly recommend this book.
“You said you wanted to fly. So fly with me.”
Liberty Bell is an extremely talented musician who is grieving and hiding away after losing her anchor, her parents. Killian James is a singer and lead guitarist for the famous rock band, Kill John. He is on a year hiatus after a devastating event so he decided to go to an unknown place where he unconventionally meets Liberty.
“He’s becoming my everything. And that is both exhilarating and terrifying.”
The musical aspect in this book was phenomenal. It made it more enjoyable. The sexual tension and chemistry between Liberty and Killian was off the charts. Their banter was so sweet and every interaction was entertaining.
“It’s always this way. He looks at me, I fall. I have an awful feeling it will be this way my entire life. Killian James wakes me up, makes me whole.”
This was so good! I can’t believe I am so late in reading this. I can’t wait to read the next one!
“Like home. Yeah, she’s my home. My everything.”
Loved Liberty and Killian so much. What an awesomely awkward and hilarious first meeting. Lawn Bum indeed! I’m usually a sucker for angst-filled rocker stories, but I’m so glad I segued away from my norm and went along on a sweet and sexy journey with Libs and Kills. Beautifully written tale of a rock star who’s crashed off his path and a girl with hidden talents who’s trying to avoid walking down hers. Made me cry when they first play and sing together.Sigh. A wonderfully entertaining book!
IDOL is a super sweet, funny and romantic story of a rock star and the country girl he meets in a small town. With an unforgettable first impression, they meet under the most unique and funniest circumstances I have read. I loved both characters from the moment I met them. They were so likeable and real. Killian never once gave off the pretentious rock star persona that you normally meet in a rock star romance.
Libby is every you could want in a heroine. She was sassy, quirky and just like any typical girl. She wasn’t anything special…and that’s what made her so special to Killian. She was like so many of us and more relateable that most heroines I’ve come across.
This book make me laugh on plenty of occasions and even had me cry on a few.
I loved Killian and Libby so much!! They were such lovable characters and I was rooting for them from the start. I loved that their story wasn’t the typical rock star romance I’ve read in the past. None of the typical hang ups, hook ups etc. This was just a great story.
First, and most importantly, Killian and I are soul mates. We both hate moths and for the right reasons. It’s truly a hard quality to find in a person. So, as I said, soulmates. I officially have a soulmate and I give zero fucks that he’s fictional. HE IS SCARED OF MOTHS FLYING IN HIS EARS AND THAT IS EVERYTHING.
Okay, now that we’ve gotten the important shit out of the way.
I swear I don’t know why I have not yet binged every single Callihan title by now. She’s a great story teller. Writes wonderfully colorful characters. Never gives cookie cutter bullshit. She always gives fresh and fun.
Idol is not your typical rockstar romance, filled with bitchy groupies and cheating heroes and outside world problems holding the couple back.
Libby and Killian are their biggest supporters and their own worst enemies at times. But that’s real life, right? Just happens that their real life takes place in the bubble of fame. But they were so loving with each other and so self sacrificing that it pulled on all my heartstrings. Every last one. I adored them both, as well as all the side characters and truly enjoyed reading their journey. Loved it pretty hard. What more is there to say? Read it. That’s all I got.
