Detective Kendall Halsrud returns in Iced Malice, another stay-up-all-night suspense thriller by the author of Relative Malice. In the midst of the worst winter in Eau Claire, Wisconsin since 1890, Detective Kendall Halsrud is investigating a case involving two murdered teenagers. Kendall soon realizes the teens’ murders appear eerily similar to the Fiancé Murder case from twelve years ago when … ago when three couples disappeared. A serial killer was suspected at the time but the bodies were never found.
Has the faceless killer returned, or does someone else have his own reason for killing couples?

Kendall is the queen of compartmentalizing. Whether that’s good or bad for us or for here is a tough call.
Have read all the books in this series and very much enjoyed them all…..
A gripping police detective story. Well written brilliant.
Once again Marla has us hanging on to the edge of our seats, just when you think you know who the killer is it all twists around.
I love the writing style, the way the story is about 2 ongoing cases at the same time, also keeping my fingers crossed that Kendall’s love of her life pulls through. This is definitely in the category of “couldn’t put down till finished”.
Can’t wait till the next book.
Good book! With her boyfriend gone on an undercover assignment, Detective Kendall Halsrud throws herself into work. With a possible murder, followed by the discovery of anothr dead woman, Kendall’s plate is full. With few leads, the police are trying several avenues when another girl disappears. To top everything off, Kendall’s boyfriend is in the hospital recovering from a near fatal beating received while undercover and he has no memory of her or the last 6 months they were together. How will Kendall push through and hopefully uncover the killer stalking their town and hope that Nash will someday remember his past with her.
This is the second one I have read with this character. I like it!
This was full of clues but still difficult to find the killers. This was terrifying in showing how easily one came become a victim.
This book was a surprise to me! Wonderfully written, surprising events.
love- loved this story! wow what a book. i just couldn’t put it down. all the different cases and solving them. then the ending giving hope to a lost love
Very well written book. Kept my interest!
A suspenseful thriller with twists and turns that kept my attention. I read many nights late and couldn’t put the book down. A good read!
I love a good mystery and this, for me, was a good one.
This book had me from ths first page. The characters drew me in and the plot kept me in suspense. It was a real page turner!!
This was my first Marla Madison read. The basic story was enjoyable reading and kept me interested throughout.
Another great read with Kendall and her partner Ross in a detective mystery. Loved all the characters in the first book and they are back for more crime and drama.
A young woman mentions wanting to write a book about old murder cases…the missing couples thought to gave been killed because they were engaged…the bodies never found. Ross has a more prominent role this time and seems to care about Courtney…..the woman who brings up the case…. and then goes missing. Kendall is involved in case involving a drunk that froze to death outside a home and another missing woman.
Her quiet young neighbor is making amends with her mom but still using her computer skills to help the police. And Nash, the love of Kendall, has gone undercover for police and is now thought dead.
Not as scary as the first book for me, but if I was a single woman dating, I’d be a bit freaked out. Solid plot, fast moving, police procedural, and an emotional journey to find one woman fightung for her life. All this and Kendall is waiting for word on Nash, dealing with his soon to be ex-wife, and trying to just keep ahead of the murders in Wisconsin.
This is a great detective story, along the lines of the zodiac murders. My only fault with this book is that it jumps around too much. There is a romance that offers nothing to the story line. (But then some people like romance. ) If you enjoy a real mystery, you will like this book.
This is the second novel in a series of 3. There are many references to events that occurred in the first book in the series, but they are brief. Like the first book in the series, this book felt unfinished to me.
Kept me riveted until the end.
Couldn’t put it down
3 stars
Detective Kendall “Kenny” Halsrud is feeling a little lost due to the absence of her boyfriend Nash who is on an undercover assignment with another police force.
It is a bitterly cold winter in Eau Claire, Wisconsin when an alcoholic young man freezes to death on the front steps of a home that is not his. Kendall and her partner Ross put it down to a horrible accident, but her father’s girlfriend (who is a lawyer and a private investigator), and her neighbor Brynn (a self-styled psychic), believe it was murder.
At the same time Ross meets with an overweight young woman who wants to write a novel about the Fiance Murders that occurred several years earlier. When the young woman goes missing, Ross becomes concerned.
When two murders occur, Ross is worried that the young woman may have gotten mixed up in the murders, or has been murdered herself. Another young woman is missing.
The police have several suspects and Kenny gets herself in a tight situation when she overhears an argument.
There are several things going on in this book. The murders, the kidnappings, Brynn’s situation and not the least is Kenny’s Nash issues. It is a lot to take in, but it somehow works. I found this to be an interesting book with a somewhat engaging plot. The Brynn character got old by the end of the book. She can’t seem to stay out of trouble and is awfully innocent. Kenny makes several stupid moves like taking a civilian with her on a case. The book is fairly well written, but does tend to wander a bit. It really gets to lose its focus at the end. Perhaps it is the author trying to balance many plots and sub-plots. All in all it is a fairly competent effort.
