On holiday leave from the service, Gabriel McQueen is sent into a brewing ice storm to make sure that his father’s distant neighbor, Lolly Helton, who has fallen out of contact, is safe and sound. It’s a trip that Gabriel would rather not make, given the bitter winter weather—and the icy conditions that have always existed between him and Lolly. Arriving at Lolly’s home, Gabriel spots strangers … strangers through the windows—one of them packing a weapon—and kicks into combat mode. But once Lolly is rescued, the heat—and the hunt—are on. Snowbound, unarmed, and literally under the gun, Gabriel and Lolly must depend on each other to endure the merciless forces of nature and evade the ruthless enemy out in the blackness of the silent night—and out for their blood.

Not her best book but entertaining. Needs more to the story between the main characters.
Loved the fact that the main character dies and…well, this was really really fun and clever. Recommend it for sure.
Very good book
For an author I normally consider an automatic buy, I found this offering disappointing. Too short, and a story that seemed she simply called it in…
Not up to her usual standards. I’m a fan of hers but this book was not the best.
Poorly written
It was a quick read and I could not put it down till I was done it was very real and believable.
Great book that kept me on my toes and turning pages!
Gabriel is on leave, back home in Maine and excited to see his young son. There is a huge ice storm on the way so his dad, the sheriff, sent him to check on Lolly, a girl he grew up with and teased continually through school. Back then he thought she was stuck-up, but their verbal matches were something he looked forward to. He has no idea about …
Good romance with a good story.
Very short never really ended
A good adventure. A worthwhile read.
The ice storm is so true to life
A little old fashioned. Not really action packed. Hard to get into characters. Disappointed.
Suspenseful!
This book was a page-turner from start to finish. Gabriel and Lolly were strong characters and worked well together. I liked the way they had each other’s back, despite their past animosity. Their relationship wasn’t romantic, it abruptly became physical. However, this book is heavy on action and suspense.
I love Linda Howard’s books. Great read!
to short!
read this book several times, very good story and written well
Linda and Nora know how to do romantic suspense.
Like most of her books, unpredictable. I enjoyed this story.
