You’d think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you’d be wrong. Because now, the aliens are having ship trouble, and they’ve left their cargo of human women — including me — on an ice planet.
And the only native inhabitant I’ve met? He’s big, horned, blue, and really, really has a thing for me…
Georgie wakes up to find that she has been abducted by aliens, along with a dozen other women. Just when they try to escape the crash on an icy planet that they name Not-Hoth. Things are looking pretty bleak until Georgie finds Vektal, a blue horned alien who claims her as his mate.
I forgot how much I loved this world. It’s been years since I read this book (2016) but after seeing a couple of bloggers read them recently I decided a reread was in order. This first book is a whirlwind of survival, attraction, and matings. These women are totally reliant on the aliens who saved them.
I really loved Georgie and Vektal. Vektal is a protective alpha male who is super sweet. Actually almost all of the males are super sweet. Georgie ends up being the leader of the humans, but she never pressured them to do anything they don’t want to. Her and Vektal will make a great couple to lead the tribe.
“She is my heart, my resonance, my soul. My mate.” – Vektal
The book does end abruptly after they are all saved from the khui sickness but I felt it actually worked as a great stopping point for the book. Also it’s not a big deal though because the next 19 books of the series are already out. Overall, I loved everything about this couple, the aliens, and the world they inhabit. I cannot wait to continue this reread.
I loved this book so hard! Honestly, I did not expect to get completely wrapped up in a book about a woman who gets abducted by aliens and crash-lands on a planet full of hunky blue aliens with horns and ridged genitalia–and tongues! Whod’a thunk it could be so good? I especially enjoyed the humor as we watched the two main characters struggle to understand each other. This book showcases the fated mates trope at its absolute best! Wonderful world-building, strong but believable female protagonist, and blue alien cinnamon-roll hero. Yum!
4,5 stars rounded up to 5 hot alien stars.
So, this was my first sci-fi alien romance. I am participating in Claire Kingsley’s reader group (Alpha Ever After) reading challenge and one of the books for May is a sci-fi romance. Other readers recommended this author, the books are in Kindle Unlimited, and I decided to give it a shot. I thought I would just get this one out of the way and move on to the other categories. I was pleasantly surprised my many things about this book.
Georgie is abducted by bad aliens in the shape of little green men who are trafficking human females. They use another alien type as the guards and they are despicable. While Georgie is in captivity the guard aliens are very abusive to the girls. (Warning: some of these scenes may be triggers for some readers.) Thankfully, their captivity is somewhat short lived before the aliens have trouble with their ship and ditch their cargo on an ice planet. Georgie finds a native big blue alien who helps her survive and the story takes off.
There is so much creativity that went into this book! It is similar to an old western where a white woman is taken in by a Native tribe. There is a language barrier. There are cultural differences. There are some some physical differences. Yet with all of that, there are also similarities. There is the dynamic of family/tribe, there is the need for survival, there is a yearning for love, and there is physical lust. The author creatively unveils a history that allows for a communication breakthrough. This same breakthrough also fills Georgie in on the history of Vektal’s people and the need for a symbiont implant in order for a human to survive on the ice planet. So in one fell swoop, the author solves communication and how to survive.
The love story begins when Vektal recognizes Georgie as his mate through a process of resonance. He cherishes her, protects her, cares for her, and feels intense physical need for her. Despite his large and very different alien body, Georgie realizes that he is caring for her and also feels curiosity and physical attraction. I love how she trusts him and falls for him when she recognizes how much feeling he has for her. There is plenty of heat between these two, despite the alien thing.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the story and am curious about the other girls and their stories with the barbarians on the ice planet. When I finished this one, I immediately downloaded the next one. This was not what I expected when I started this book. I have to say that I have gained appreciation for this genre and especially this very creative author.
I love this story a lot. I’ve read it numerous times, I just found out that it’s on Audible so I had to listen to it. Still love it!
Georgie was abducted by aliens. Then the aliens had engine trouble on their ship so they dumped their cargo of human women on an ice planet. Someone has to go and look for help and Georgie gets nominated. She goes out looking for help and finds a native. He just happens to decide that Georgie is his. Georgie isn’t sure that she is completely opposed to that idea, even if he is big, blue and has horns.
There are a lot of feels in this story. Parts of the abduction portion are very difficult and disturbing, but it’s not a long portion. Overall I spent a lot of time laughing and smiling while reading Georgie and Vektal’s story. I loved how dedicated Vektal was to Georgie. I definitely recommend reading this book. Or listening to it!
This series is bananas in the best possible way.

Story – 3.5 stars!
It took me a bit of time to warm up to the story. I really liked Vektal. In fact, I liked him more than I liked Georgie overall. Being stuck on an ice planet that seems to be stuck in the ice ages though wouldn’t be my ideal future as a human. So, I got Georgie’s hesitation to take on the symbiont that was required to survive on this ice planet she and the other kidnapped human females were dumped on.
Performances – 5 stars!
Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd were a great narrating duo. I have zero complaints about their vocal acting.
Overall – 3.5 stars!
It was a unique story, but I’m not in any rush to read the subsequent stand alone novels in the Ice Planet Barbarians series.
This is like a cocktail party story game of ‘what-if’s’. What if a ship of abducted female humans crash land on an ice planet after being subjected to torture for 2 weeks, and are greeted by a blue race with ridged tongues and blue balls? I.KID.YOU.NOT. This is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. I’ll be honest. But if you have zero expectations, and want something sci-fi and fun,

Didn’t even know I had a thing for blue-horned barbarian aliens, but I surprised myself with this new-to-me author.
I listened to the audiobook of Ice Planet Barbarians and the time just flew by. I own the paperback and the physical copy itself is very short, but so much happens in a blink of an eye!
This book is my first introduction into an alien/human relationship and I’m glad I opened up to explore into a new realm of this romance. I was completely floored by this story and was still able to laugh my ass off at certain parts.
Making an effort to try to understand another species without being able to communicate with words seems difficult and Ruby crafted this story to perfection! The narrators did such a great job of bringing this story to life, so I applaud them as well!
It’s a great month to expand your horizons, even if this sub-genre isn’t your cup of tea. You won’t be disappointed with this one!
I stumbled upon the Ice Planet Barbarians series through just looking for a BOOK’S to start reading again and i find it
I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have trouble finding Sci-Fi Romance with substance. Ms. Dixon delivered substance and more. I was captured from the first page.
The secondary; well all the characters we meet are interesting and unique in their own way. I had a few laughs at some of the things one of the girls said to help lighten the mood in a bad situation. I can’t wait for each human women to have their own story.
The only thing I got frustrated with was that Gerogie let a stranger, Vektal, lick her right of the bat and that she didn’t tell him their where more women than the five; before they went back to rescue them with the other blue alien men. This didn’t deter me in the least, just two things that got me, but soon moved past.
I very much enjoyed the dual-POV’s. We get Gerogie and Vektal’s perspectives. It made it interesting to learn about both, the world, and what it’s like to be different and alone. I liked the language barrier, it made things difficult, but they worked through it until it got sorted out. This book was sweet, funny and sexy. Although the experience the heroine has gone through is pretty traumatic, this book was still light and fun to read
I loved Ice Planet Barbarians and couldn’t put the book down once I picked it up. Once I finished I went out and bought the next book in the series. It was that good and hooked me. I would recommend to anyone who likes a Sci-Fi Romance and who likes something a little different to give Ice Planet Barbarians series a try. The aliens are blue, have horns, glowing eyes and some interesting equipment down south
It was a fun read
I have always enjoyed this series
What a great escape! I devoured this, I really couldn’t put this down. I was so excited while reading. See I am new to the PNR Alien love affair books. I seriously thought it wouldn’t be something I’d enjoy, boy was I so wrong! I loved every moment!
I was lost at first (and lost I mean understanding the alien language and stuff LOL) but as I kept reading soon my questions got their answers. By the time I finished I was left wanting more of this rush! I never imaged how HOT a story like this could be! WOW!
This author is new to me but she rocked my world with this story! The characters are awesome. She gave every feels possible. I laughed, felt the powerful bond these two shared! Totally best read! I can honestly say if being captured by aliens was like in this book, then I’d signed up to be next! Lol!
Totally recommend this book! A perfect 5 star or even more.
Loved all the characters, funny, original, entertaining and could not wait to find out what happens next!
Loved this original storyline. Follow up story was also intriguing, kept me entertained and looking forward to next pages.
I’m on book 9 in the series . Love love love every one so far. A must read!!!
Unique aspect for science fiction and romance.
I love this whole series! Georgie and Vektal’s story is as realistic as possible given the world they live in. This series got me hooked on the alien trope. Highly recommended!
Started reading this book and now I’m reading book 9. It’s very interesting. Amazing characters 😀
The last couple of months, I have been having trouble reading. Then a friend told me to start this series. I was a little skeptical, and now I am wondering what took me so long. I never expected to find a blue, horned alien with a tail sexy… but OMG I could really use one!
Question asked a good rainy day read and I suggest Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians series. It’s a fun sci-fi with blue aliens and kidnapped, space crashed women.
