The Nighthawks are hockey’s new expansion team. They’re ice hot. And they’re all about the chase. Christian: They call me a hockey god because I’m a beast on the ice . . . and off. Men want to be me and women just want me. But now that the New York Nighthawks expect me to lead their team to victory, it’s all work and no play. My eyes are on the prize. Until I meet Serena Ellis, a sexy, … Serena Ellis, a sexy, curvalicious blonde who doesn’t know me from jack. And just like that, I’m hooked.
Serena: I don’t do one-night stands—especially with celebrity jocks who date models. Lots of models. But the god of hockey is a temptation that’s hard for mere mortals to resist. And after the best kiss of my life, I’m ready to throw my one-night stand rule out the window. Except Christian Chase won’t let me. He doesn’t want a one-night stand. He wants it all.

He has the moves and the ego to back them up. Whether you love him or not, Christian knows how to be the star of the show, but what happen when the playboy’s heart takes center stage? Ice Hot proves itself a game changer when it comes to matters of the heart. Goodwin steams up the pages with her sassy, heartwarming sports romance.
This is a totally new to me author, but I decided to read this book because I love hockey romance, and I’m always on the look out for my next favorite author! It’s the beginning of a new series, (I hate starting in the middle of a series!) the cover is hot, and the blurb caught my attention. I thought, going in, that it was going to be another of those stories about a jerky jock who meets a girl, and she turns him from his player ways. Boy, was I wrong! This isn’t just another sports romance. There was so much more to this story than is implied by the blurb!
Chris is the captain of a new expansion hockey team. He has a playboy reputation, and doesn’t do relationships. My first impression of him was that he was a tough guy that didn’t take any flack from anyone. Hockey is his life, and he doesn’t have the time or inclination for anything else. Until he meets Serena, and looses gets all flustered. (super cute!) Serena is a BBW who is comfortable in her own skin….or she is working hard to get that way. She has her own hang ups, her own history that makes her who she is.
Even though this was a new to me author, I found that I enjoyed the writing. Realistic characters, with believable personalities. The more I read, the more I become aware that there are actually two stories going on at the same time. You have the romance between Chris and Serena, and then you have the story about the drama going on within the team. The author did an exceptional job at keeping me invested in both stories, and blending them together seamlessly. When the two stories merged, it was done in such a way that I couldn’t help but feel real emotions for both characters and what they were going through. This was a phenomenal story, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Nighthawks!
Terrific hockey romance; great start to a new series
Chris brings his experience to the new franchise team, and has his hands full as captain trying to bring all the various players together and solidify them into a cohesive team. Serena is determined to chart her own path, separate from her family’s wealth and influence.
Chris’s chance meeting with Serena is completely unlike anything he’s ever experienced before, right from the start, and she keeps him on his toes even as she proves to be the perfect complement to his life on the rink. Serena’s been hurt enough before that she’s raised her standards almost impossibly high. When Chris sees that as relationship goals rather than as a challenge to conquer, he quickly skates past all her defenses.
These two have a lively, soul-satisfying journey to their HEA. It’s everything we expect from a sports romance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I’m a sucker for hockey romance and this one was a great read.
I love Christian and Serena and their relationship. The progress of it was written beautifully, but the only problem I had was they just knew who was trying to sabotage their relationship. I wanted to know more about why he did what he did. But that didn’t take away my liking off the book. I loved that Serena had a strong backbone and wouldn’t take too much shit from anyone. I loved how he supported her. But being a guy, Christian did screw up but when he got his head on straight I fell for him even more.
“I can’t live without you. I need you. I love you. I’m desperate. Desperate for you to forgive me. Desperate for you to love me even half as much as I love you.” ***Swoooooon***
My first time reading Tracy Goodwin and I’m a huge fan. I can’t believe I now have to wait until September (!!!) to see Nick finding his HEA just like these two did.

A great start to a new series. I have never watched hockey but I sure do love to read about it. I love a good sports romance that pulls you in from the start of the book and that’s what Ice Hot did.
Christian is the team captain for the Nighthawks and won two Stanley cups. He is good looking, rich and can have any woman he wants.
Serena comes from money but never really felt like she fit in. She has no plans of dating anyone and hasn’t for a while. Something about Christian slowly breaks her walls and she gives in. The chemistry between these two is off the charts.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I like Christian. I like that he has doubts and flaws. His insecurities make him real. The mystery blonde too, sexy and sassy, I was hooked on her from the start.
Ice Hot was steamy and sweet. Hard not to enjoy it with a spitfire like Serena. She is definitely someone I would like to hangout with. (Not because of hockey playing hottie she seemed to snag, but her.)
It’s a fun way to start a new series and I look forward to seeing what everyone gets up to in the future.
Chris and Serena meet over a smushed blueberry slushy between them. They have chemistry that is off the charts. They are not the typical couple expected in their circles because he is a jock and she is not model thin. Despite this they deeply care about each other. The author deals with some current and sensitive issues such as body image, class differences and anxiety issues that make this book very emotional and real. The depth of feeling expressed by the characters are well placed and allows the reader to empathize really well with them. In the end despite all the bullying and other issues that the couple deals with they are able to focus on love and find their forever together.
NHL star Christian Chase’s perfectly situated life is knocked off it’s axis when he bumps into a voluptuous beauty at a gas station. The moment their eyes connect, the air around them starts to shift, and a unexpected attraction takes hold, and both of them are left more than a little rattled. He has never had that kind of instant attraction to anyone, and it intrigues him more than he cares to admit. But before they can exchange numbers she jumps in her car and drives right out of his life, and he feels like he just lost out big time.
But luck or fate is on his side because their thrown onto each other’s paths again, when they run into one another a second time while out with friends at a local bar… and this time he doesn’t plan on letting her get away without a phone number.
Serena learned a long time ago that dating jocks is a bad idea, she tangled with one once and it ended with a broken heart. So, when she meets hockey star Christian Chase and he seems more than willing to offer her a night of fun, she sends him packing. Only momentarily though, because the kiss they share before she hands him is walking papers blows her mind, and she isn’t quite ready to let go of that without further inspection!
Ice Hot is a hot little page-turner that will give a good tug on your heartstrings, and leave you permanently weak in the knees. The moment you meet it’s heart stealing hero Christian Chase, you won’t know what hit you, that man is book boyfriend perfection. He waltzed onto the page and stole my heart and attention in an instant, he was sweet, smooth, passionate, and sexy as all get-out! This first time read not only surprised me, but left me quite impressed with it’s well crafted words, and impeccably designed characters. I am really looking forward to meeting more of the Nighthawks players, the few glimpses that I got of them in this story leaves me more than a little intrigued!
Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it promises to bring you many pleasant little surprises and swoons!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Funny, sexy, yet emotional hockey romcom! Can’t wait to see who the other hockey stars end up with 🙂
First in a new series is off to a great start. A hockey player and a curvy girl bump into each other at a gas station. Sparks fly as these two heat up the sheets. As their relationship grows, can they put aside their insecurities as social media starts to tear them apart?
Yes, I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Love those hockey players!
An ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this sexy hockey romance that is overflowing with heart and soul. Christian, the gorgeous sexy captain for the Nighthawks literally runs into the beautiful Serena and is completely gobsmacked by her. I love how he falls for her! She has some issues because of how she has been treated in the past so she is a bit slower in her falling for Chris but it’s clearly inevitable. How could she not, he is so sexy and just an amazing man!
Good story to go along with all the super hot sexy times. As the first book in a new series, I like that we get a good glimpse at some of the other team members that will hopefully be getting their own books.
Thank you to Netgalley/Publisher for this ARC!
This is my first book by Tracy Goodwin and I’m in such a fantastic head space right now. Started and finished in one sitting, this book has all the feels. I laughed out loud, cheered and sneered and fell in love with the characters.
What I admired most was the actual lacking of any angst. The storyline held my interest while the characters were honest and upfront with each other. I. Loved. That. The. Most. However, like every great book there must be a twist. Things needed to happen. And wow. Just wow!
Can this be a standalone? One hundred percent YES! The epilogue…Loved it and now I’m hooked.
A. Must. Read.
5 Stars to Ice Hot by Tracy Goodwin!
This is a great start to what I believe is going to be a great series. Hockey romance is my absolute favorite of the sports romance genres. To me, there is nothing sexier than a hot shot hockey player. Additionally what makes this book an even better experience for me is I have found a new author to add to my TBR. Tracy Goodwin is definitely an author whose name I have seen before. Why I haven’t read one of her books before this, is a mystery to me. So I want to thank NetGalley for this recommendation. I will definitely be on the look out for the next book in the series. The author not only gave a great story with this books’s protagonists, but she gave us a good amount of inside on some of the other team members. I will also mention that Ice Hot has some of the most entertaining, loyal secondary characters I’ve read recently.
Christian and Serena…….
Christian is the new captain for the New York Nighthawks, NFL’s newest expansion team. Christian’s addition to this team and his recent two-time Stanley Cup wins makes him an asset the coaches and managers hope will lead the Nighthawks to their own trophy. Christian has had a tough childhood, with no support from his only living parent, his father. Since he came from nothing, he does his best to take nothing for granted. He is gorgeous, popular with women and fans but he has a side to him which is genuine. I think you should unravel the sexy enigma that is Christian on you own. Learning where he came from and how he got to where he is now, was a part of the book that the author used to really give us insight at what makes him tick. I will tell you, Christian is not all he seems. He was a gentleman. Was he perfect? No. Did he make mistakes? Yes, one in particular that had me wanting to kick his butt. Did he redeem himself? Hmmm…you’ll have to read to find out. I do promise you one of the happiest endings.
Serena is one of those heroines that I have crazy respect for from the first page. She is beautiful inside and out. But her most important attributes are her determination to be successful on her own terms. It was her determination, kindness, loyalty and take-no-nonsense attitude that made me her biggest fan. Okay, well second biggest when you consider how much Christian wanted her.
I won’t go into the detail of their relationship dynamic because you will enjoy reading that on your own. I will say there are insecurities among other hurdles that Serena and Christian will have to get over before their HEA. But when they do……One of my favorite happily-ever-afters!
This is definitely a must read. If you are a hockey romance fan, you can add this series to your TBRs. You won’t be disappointed. This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
For the first time reading one of this authors books, I must say that she hit it out of the park. You are hooked from beginning to end with how they way it’s written. She breaks it down wonderfully that we get so lost in the storytelling it’s as if you’re there right with them. Serena and Christian are the embodiment of this book and make it perfect. They both have some serious issues but by the end of the book they have pretty much worked them out. I can’t wait until book 2 is out. If it’s anything like this one then it’s gonna be excellent. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
It was such a good book that I could not put it down. I highly recommend that you check it out yourself and see if the same thing happens to you as well.
I really like this book. It is a feel-good story of love and romance. It covers some excellent subjects that definately relevant in today’s world. The main lead characters Serena’s and Christian’s romance and eventual love for one another is so realistic. The supporting characters are well developed and have wonderful personalities. This book includes a gay married couple. Serena’s brother Lucas is married to Charlie and both are staunch supporters of Serena, her business and her personal life. Her grandmother, Savannah, is a hoot. She is eclectic in her manners and is a self-made woman. She has supported and championed Serena for all of her life. Savannah has been there for Serena because her parents did everything to body shame her because she is a BBW and look upon her fledgling business with distain. Her parents, Kathryn and Harrison Ellis are wealthy elitist snobs. They have always looked down on both Serena and her brother Lucas because they did not fit the mold of their perfect elitist lifestyle. Although emotionally hurt by their parents Serena and Lucas proudly live their lives in the open. Christian/Chris has had to take care of himself since he was a child. When his mother died, his father’s gambling got out of control and he spent all his money for food and utilities on gambling without concern for feeding and caring for Christian. Christian worked hard to provide for himself and by extension, his father. Alone, unloved and uncared for, Christian spent his time excelling in all that he did. In the winter he would skate with used skates, and taught himself how to handle the ice. He kept those skates to always remind himself from where and what he came from. However, Christian’s deep fear of never being loved for who he is strong. Because of his father, he fears rejection. He does not want to feel unloved. So, he has never had a relationship. As a pro hockey celebrity, women are constantly looking to attach themselves to his fame and fortune. When he meets Serena he is immediately attracted to her for her sassy snarky attitude and her rocking full figured body. Her confidence is an aphrodisiac to him. She does not treat him like a hockey god, but treats him like a normal guy. Serena has deep seated fears of her own. When she was sixteen, she had a traumatic experience with a boy. Since then, she has hardened her heart and is not willing to trust any man. She has never fully given herself to anyone and neither has Christian. Just when things are looking up for Christian and Serena, negative publicity drives a wedge between them. Christian knows who is behind it but he does not know how to deal with it. He breaks up with Serena in order to protect her, but all it does is cause anger, pain and insecurity. This is a wonderful book, very entertaining and full of emotion and drama. I highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was okay. The writing flowed well for the most part, but I was turned off from the story by Serena. Her fixation on something that happened when she was 16 was a little much for me. As a grown woman, the fact that you let a jerk from high school determine how you live your life is a too much. Also the continuing references to her being fat, or not having a normal body, got old. Even though this wasn’t a book for me, I would be willing to read this author again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Just ugh.. Several times I’ve wanted to just delete this from my kindle, but I try to see books through to the end. I fast forwarded so many pages to get to the dialogue. And Serena’s issues with being the fat girl were so ill founded. And FYI I am overweight, so I can say this. Just a ridiculous issue in this book. The guy Mike from the hockey team was forced. I love sports romances & thought I had found my new hockey series. I was wrong.
Overall, it felt like this book just tried too hard. The beginning of the book tried way too hard to “set up” all of the ancillary characters at once and set up future books in the series. It was like a fire hose of characters and personalities. Likewise, the first encounter between Serena and Christian seemed rushed – not that something like that can’t really happen, but it didn’t seem organic/real to me and everything about their “immediate connection” seemed forced. I think that Christian was supposed to come across as smitten (and I love a good, smitten Hero), but instead he just kind of seemed dorky. And then I feel like there were some sexytime scenes that felt like they were just thrown in for the “heat” factor. And while I do truly appreciate the overall message re: body image/self confidence, I felt that in order to further that, several of the characters were represented very stereotypically.

3.5
I’m on the fence with this one. I really liked Chris and Serena, she’s strong and very sassy. It started off pretty good, then towards the middle I started to skim. There was quite a bit of internal dialogue, liked pages and pages so I skimmed through a lot of that. They both thought they weren’t good enough for each other and there’s a huge chunk of body issues in here. This is my first book by this author and I did like most of it. I would probably continue on with the next book in the series.
