This is book #2 in the New York Nighthawks series and Nick George’s story. Nick is Christian Chase’s best friend and now the best man in his wedding. This story starts at Chris’ bachelor party and has Nick wishing for a special relationship of his own. At the bar where the party is held, Nick catches the eye of a bartender, Camille Benetti. Cami is attracted to Nick but has sworn off hockey players because of her past.
Cami’s dream is to own her family’s Italian restaurant but her old-fashioned father won’t allow it. Nick keeps pursuing Cami until she finally agrees to be his date for Chris’ wedding. What Cami didn’t realize was that Nick was playing for keeps and he was going to convince Cami that she belongs with him always. It will take a huge leap of faith from Cami to finally commit to Nick but once she does they have a perfect happy ending.
I just adored Nick. He may be tall, sexy and alpha but he is also a squishy teddy bear deep down inside. He was the perfect person to help make Cami’s dreams come true. I liked Cami, but at times she was so afraid of her past you just wanted to shake her so she would see what was right in front of her. Luckily she came to her senses quickly. Overall this was a fun addition to this series.
This is an enjoyable hockey romance. This is the first book that I’ve read by Tracy Goodwin but I will check out more books by her. Nick was a real nice, thoughtful guy while Cami was more reserved and definitely didn’t want to date a hockey player. It’s a good thing Nick knows what he wants and how to win Cami’s love and trust.
I love a good hockey romance, and I was so excited to see this on my kindle! I loved Nick! He’s definitely the perfect “bad boy” who is ready to change and settle down and find love. When he meets Cami he goes all out to woo her & it made my heart swoon! Cami has a hard time accepting that Nick won’t just up and leave her, but there is no fighting that chemistry! I loved them together! So great!
This is the second in the series of hockey romances and I hope it is the continuation of a long string of them. The author has such a way with words and tells a very compelling story.
Families are always complicated and in this story, that is certainly true. Cami works hard in her family restaurant with no real thanks from her father. He doesn’t ever listen to her and never wants things to change.
Nick is a pro hockey player who seems to have it all but his off-ice personality is the polar opposite of the one on ice. And he’s having trouble convincing a certain beautiful woman that he will be good to her and for her. Cami wants nothing to do with him because she has a bad track record with hockey players.
He convinces her to be his date in hopes that it gets her to look at him in a different light and gives him a change to get to know her better.
The story has twists and turns that mirror real life and isn’t all rosy. I liked that about it and hope that everyone else does as well.
I voluntarily read the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Hot and Sensitive….With his best friend getting married soon, Nick wants a real relationship of his own. Women have always expected Nick to be his ‘Dominator’ image off the ice and have been disappointed. The last man that Cami wants to date is a hockey player. When Cami starts to see the other side of Nick, she starts to be unwillingly drawn to him. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. What I really like about this book is Nick and Cami and their relationship. Nick is very sensitive to Cami and works hard to have a relationship with Cami. Due to Cami’s past, she is gun-shy about getting involved with Nick. Even though there is a lot of steam in this book, the focus is on the relationship. I really like this book and the series.
This is the second book in the Nighthawk series. I truly enjoyed reading this story. It was easy to read and a page turner. It has a good storyline and well written. I enjoyed the characters Nick and Cami. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.
I read and reviewed this Advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
What a read! Nick will melt your heart and Cami’s sassy will entertain you are you watch their relationship begin, grow, flounder and grew bigger! Cami took on the role of peace keeper in the family after their mother died, being their for her siblings, helping her dad in the family owned restaurant, living her live for them. Nick needs a date to his teammate’s wedding, resorting to online dating, and a little prank playing by Cami’s brother they find themselves on a non date and finding it had not to find a connection, well for Cami who’s definitely not looking for a relationship. Plenty of laughs, a few tears and plenty of heat makes this a great read!
I love hockey romances. I liked the realness of the characters and how they overcame their struggles and relationship issues. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to the next one in the series!
Cami drove me nuts, Nick stoke my heart, and there were several I wanted to body check. Great story of overcoming heartache to finding and accepting love.
This is the first book that I have read from this author and it was a good read. This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. I love a good sports romance. Nick and Cami were a great couple. The storyline was a bit predictable in parts but there were parts that they dealt with real issues that they needed to overcome to be able to move forward in their relationship. I loved the epilogue and being able to catch a glimpse of their future.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was my first book by this author so I was excited to see what I was in for. Ice Hard is the second book in the series, which I did not know at the time, but is a standalone and I was not confused at all reading the book.
Ice Hard is about Nick, an NFL hockey player who, after seeing his friend and teammate settle down, is kind of envious and realizes he might be looking to do the same. After a chance run in with Cami/Camille at his friend’s bachelor party, he realizes he really wants to get to know her better. Unfortunately, Camille has really been burnt before, by literally everyone in her life, making her very untrusting of others.
I enjoyed reading about Nick’s attempts at trying to win Cami over and get her to give him a chance, and was routing for them from the start. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and she really needed someone like that on her side. I enjoyed the writing style of the author and I enjoyed the characters in the book. There were lots of references and scenes involving Nick’s friends and teammates, especially Chris and his fiance, who were in book one of the series, so I would like to go back and read that book also. I did feel like some of Camille’s family drama was maybe a little over the top and/or not well developed or well resolved, but otherwise I thought the book was overall an engaging and enjoyable read. It was a fairly predictable read, but that didn’t take away from the story for me, and I would be interested in reading more from the author.
I received a review copy before release for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable story about two very different characters falling in love and finding a happy ever after. It is #2 in the series but easily stands alone. The first book was so awesome that I could not wait to dig into this story. However I did like the first book much better. This story was good too just not as awesome as the first book.
In this story Nick is our male lead and he is attending a bachelor party for his bestie when he meets Cami. He is looking for a relationship and he thinks she is the perfect girl for him. On his side it is a little instalove/lust.
Cami is a bit of a hot mess with some really BIG issues. She tells him right away she does not want to date a jock. Nick is a professional hockey player so he has to really work for it. However Cami has some big issues that she needs to work out before they can be together.
I liked both character and loved seeing the couple from the first book and attending their wedding. My favorite scene in the whole book for the dress store scene. Kudos to the author for a well written and fun book that also dealt with some real issues.
Tracy Goodwin has a clutch performance with Ice Hard (New York Nighthawks, #2). This is Nick George’s
and Camille Benetti’s story. Nick is the best friend and teammate of Christian Chase (New York Nighthawks #1). The book starts out at Christian’s bachelor party. Nick is Christian’s best man. After watching Christian and Serena, Nick realizes he wants a meaningful relationship; then he meets Camille. The two hit it off, but Camille wants nothing to do with a hockey player. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
Ice Hard is a heartwarming story. Nick wants someone whom he can be himself around. Camille had things happen in her past that hurt her confidence. The two have great chemistry and a lot in common. I enjoyed their sarcastic personalities and love of music. They have emotional obstacles to overcome. I like how the characters grew throughout the story.
Ice Hard is well-written and easy to read. It is a great addition to the New York Nighthawks series. It has a good plot, interesting twists, family drama, and entertaining hockey scenes with Cami’s ex. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Tracy Goodwin is a new to me author and I can say after reading Ice Hard, I am definitely going back and reading some more! I saw a Hockey romance and I jumped right on it. I can’t get enough for them and I am such a sucker for them.
Ice Hard is the second book in the Nighthawks series, but can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first one, but still felt like I knew what was going on in the story, but I feel like it would have helped with some of the things mentioned throughout the story.
Nick is a hockey bad boy, he is like a human google. He studies everything and that includes his opponents. He knows how to win. He isn’t called the Dominator for nothing. Cami works in her family restaurant and catches Nick’s attention, only she doesn’t date hockey players. Nick is determined to get her to change her mind and take a chance with him, but will Cami be able to overcome her past for a future with Nick?
I LOVED this book so much. Every single character in this story was fantastic, even though I truly wanted to slap most of Cami’s family (trust me, you will understand once you’ve read it). Nick and Chris’s relationship and friendship is hands down my favorite. Those guys have so much love for each other and are truly like brothers. I love Nick, but Cami. That woman. She is completely amazing and despite the pain of her past is there for her family and just completely awesome.
If you love hockey romances this is one I would definitely recommend. It’s got loads of hockey shenanigans, romance, steamy and it is emotional. I loved every single moment.
Another Nighthawk.
Alexander Nicolas George, the Dominator, is usually able to read other players on ice, but Camille Benetti has him stumped. He’s in, but she’s not sure from her own insecurities. All Nick wants is her and he’s putting her on limited time to make up her mind. Less humor than the first one. More intense for me, because I kept waiting for diaster. Never fear they do get an HEA.
I absolutely love this series. It highlights the very best of men. Nick is looking for genuine lifetime love. He has watched his best friend fall in love and feels it is time for him to do the same. He is concerned that people won’t see the real him and devices a plan to get around that. Cami has sworn off dating jocks and especially hockey players because of her ex. She is loyal to her family and spends her time taking care of them. Their first date is manipulated by her siblings but they agree to go on another. This is a sexy and intense story. Watching Nick fight for the woman he loves and the future he wants is heartwarming. The team is a big family that supports each other and protects the people they love. Talking about the issues of inadequacy that Cami was dealing with makes the story even more compassionate and sweeter. You will enjoy turning the pages to the beautiful ending.
When I read the first book in this series, Ice Hot, I commented that I enjoyed the characters and liked the story concept but felt something was missing. There was enough I liked about the book that I wanted to read the next in the series. I’m happy to say I did feel this story was an improvement on the first.
I absolutely adore both Nick and Camille. They are both such caring people with just enough snark to make them fun but not overly abrasive. What they have is definitely insta-love, but it was really believable insta-love. As with the first story, I felt the flicker of chemistry but it didn’t explode off the pages as I was hoping/expecting. In the other book I chalked this up to telling and not showing with the story. I didn’t feel that way here, so I can’t really say what was missing to help things catch fire for me.
As much as I loved the backstory of Camille, I also felt I was missing out on something. There were two basic stories, one with her family and one with her ex, that converge to make her who she is today. Both were really great concepts. Yet I felt neither was given the depth it could have been given if only one had been central to the story. In other words, I wanted more. That’s a compliment, by the way.
So, while I’m still not totally blown away by this author, she’s definitely growing on me.
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of Net Galley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Nick is part of the Nighthawks hockey team and best friend to Chris who is about to marry the girl of his dreams. As Nick watches his friend fall deeper in love, Nick is wondering if he will find his HEA. So he decides to take matters into his own hands by joining a dating site without telling his buddy.
The night of Chris’ bachelor party, Nick meets Cami and he begins to see and feel that there might be something more between them. The attraction between them is off the charts. He tries to ask her out but she shuts him down.
Cami doesn’t date hockey players. Been there don’t that, got divorced. She is attracted to Nick but there can only be one night with him. But she knows that Nick can be bad for her heart. She feels the way she reacts to his touch and the heat between them is so hot.
Will Nick be able to talk Cami into a date? Can Cami let her guard down and spend time with Nick? Will they have a chance at a future together?
I really like this series so far and can’t wait to see which team member will be next. And you have to read this series because some of the pranks a few members play are so funny and “Lucky” will have you laughing out loud. I recommend this one and you have to read the first to follow along but it is not necessary if you don’t want to.

ICE HARD is the second instalment in Tracy Goodwin’s contemporary, adult NEW YORK NIGHTHAWKS erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the professional hockey team the New York Nighthawks. This is professional hockey player Nick ‘the Dominator’ George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti’s story line. ICE HARD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Cami and Nick) ICE HARD follows the building relationship between professional hockey player Nick George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti. Cami Benetti doesn’t do relationships, especially relationship involving professional hockey players but meeting Nick George at his best friend’s bachelor party gave Cami thoughts about second chances. Having learned her lesson in the past, Cami struggled with the potential for infidelity on the road but Nick George was nothing like Cami expected. Nick George is the perfect man for our story line heroine although Cami battles between head and heart believing heart break is waiting for the opportune time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Cami and Nick, and the potential fall-out as Cami struggles with family betrayal, and heart break from the past.
Cami Benetti has one goal in mind-owning and operating the family run Italian restaurant but having spent her entire life proving herself worthy, Cami knows it is only a matter of time before she finds herself on the outside looking in. Past betrayal has left Cami broken and hardened to the idea of never finding love, but finding Nick George means the possibility of second chances. Nick George wants what his best friend and fellow hockey player has-his own happily ever after, and Nick believes he has found it in our heroine Cami Benetti but convincing Cami she is worthy will take more than simple wooing and love.
The relationship between Cami and Nick is one of immediate attraction but Cami refuses to give into Nick’s attempts to flirt and seduce. Only promising one night together, with no strings, Cami will soon discover Nick is the real deal. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Nick’s fellow teammates: Christian Chase and his fiancé Serena (Ice Hot #1) ; teammates Theo ‘Thor’ Ture, Damon ‘the Demon’ DeLaurentis, Ryan ‘Lucky’ McGee, and Alexi ‘The Vamp’ Vladislav; Cami’s best friend and cousin Sally Benetti, and Cami’s siblings including Mike (and Kayla), Matty, Beth (and Scott), and Ben, as well as their father Tony Benetti.
ICE HARD is a story of family, friendship, past betrayals, and moving forward. The fast paced premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are numerous, energetic and flirty although the Benetti clan leaves something to be desired; the romance is seductive and intense. ICE HARD is a welcome and wonderful addition to the author’s New York Nighthawks hockey romance series.
Nick is a swoonworthy man! He’s everything you could want in a boyfriend – smart, hard working, fun, looking for commitment, family man, thoughtful and supportive. Camille has had no real experience with a guy like Nick and is more than a little wary. Their story is fun and touching. The two characters are likeable and fit together well. It’s a great quick read and it made me want to read more from this author. I received a copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
