House acted like a jealous coward bully much of the time. So immature! Ace came in like a protector and savior for Stormi, but so many obstacles must be overcome! Srange how you can make yourself believe what you need to survive. Brenda saying Piston was sorry about Josh, and it was an accident!!?? Who are you kidding, or is it your brain tumor acting up again!!?? Back and forth, twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, not sure if my hero and heroine would survive it all. Backstabbing and cover ups non stop. A bloody emotional action packed journey you don’t want to miss. Check it out.
Devil’s Nightmare MC series next installment and the fifth book, can be read as a standalone. This book was an emotional journey filled with pain, abuse, love and hot bikers. This is Ice and Barbie’s story. Ice has just escaped and been granted revenge for the past seven years of pain and horror he had lived and continued to live everyday in his nightmare’s. When he takes a trip down memory lane and runs right into Barbie and the hell she is in. He can’t not help her but he quickly realizes that saving Barbie might be his ultimate ruin. This was a good read and I wanted to love Ice but my love was for Barbie. No matter what Barbie faced she tried to find hope and I loved that about her.
This book just made me want to read the rest of the series to learn more about the other members of the Devil’s Nightmare MC club.
This is a very dark and emotional story. It is so well written that you can feel the despair, the heartache, the defeat and hope of these two damaged souls. Ice and Barbie are simple characters that have had a great deal of pain and suffering in their lives. Some of it is a bit difficult to read but, the more time Ice and Barbie spend together the more you realize how perfect their happily ever after will be that you won’t want to put the book down.
I have been wanting to read Ice’s story since I read Cross and with each book that came out I just got more excited about him. When I received this ARC copy from the author I was actually nervous about starting it as I wondered if I had built it up too much in my head and if I was possibly going to be disappointed. I honestly should have had more faith in Lena Bourne because this one blew me out of the water. Ice is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite thus far and I have absolutely loved all the guys.I don’t know if it is because I waited for his story or because he is simply the most damaged by far, for some reason I am a sucker for a broken bird and they don’t come much more broken than him. Every step of his journey with Barbie had my heart breaking. Every single time I thought she was breaking through his tough exterior and melting something inside him he would slam the walls back up and shut her out and he definitely wasn’t gentle about it but at the heart of everything you got the overwhelming feeling
that he was a genuinely good man who had lost his way and just needed a guide to bring him back to who he always was and to teach him that life isn’t over until its over but it just may be that he is too far gone for that, only time will tell. Adding to his determination not to lower his walls is the trouble he has brought to Cross and the Devil’s Nightmare doorstep by rescuing Barbie from her situation, it brings back too many memories of what happened to his family. Two of the most complex, damaged characters I’ve encountered in a while together with an amazing story make this a definite must have.
I have to admit that I was getting very disappointed in this book when I first started to read it. I was not disappointed by the story, which is very good, but in Ice the character. I have been really intrigued by Ice since the first book and then subsequently through the other books in the series. But the way that he is in story and with Barbie really didn’t click with me. But I continued to read and more and more became clear with him.
He is a much more complex character than I gave him credit for, and this story was like peeling an onion. The more layers peeled, the more I was able to discover about him. I was really pulled to his character and what made him up the more I read and he started to become the character that I really liked. And then it shifted and then shifted again. So many shifts, but his character went through hell, and he definitely did not walk about the other side unscathed.
And Barbie … so much more than how she was originally portrayed. There is depth to her character that is not always clear. She is definitely about protecting herself, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Reading about her past really put some puzzles together. The pieces are filled with pain, but they are also filled with a path that defined her. But she definitely has some self-depreciation issues going on. She really became a character that I was able to empathize with.
The story as a whole is one of discovery and redemption. Ice definitely has demons that he needed to deal with … if he ever truly can. And Barbie was definitely able to find herself and never gave up that last bit of hope. So all in all, stellar story. The characters were great and the progression of the relationship had rocky starts and stops, but in the end made me smile as I read the final page.
