When millionaire Regis Banks drops dead at his own party, everyone assumes it was from natural causes – after all, the man was celebrating his one-hundredth birthday…. Everyone except Lexy Baker’s amateur sleuth grandmother, Nans, and her three friends, that is. When it turns out that Regis’ death might have been caused by more than just old age, Nans refuses to let the trail grow cold – … trail grow cold – especially after a local reporter trying to get a scoop threatens to write an article blaming the death on Lexy.
It doesn’t take long before Nans and Lexy are up to their eyeballs in suspects. And when those suspects start dropping like flies, Lexy and Nans have to step up their game before the killer claims their next victim.

Enjoyed the characters and story
Good book with fun characters
As the victims accumulate, the number of suspects escalate. I almost needed a dance card to keep up.
Enjoy this authors series!
LeighAnn Dobbs is one of my favorite authors and I love everything she writes! Especially Lexy and the gang! They’re a hoot! So If you like reading mysteries with fun and romance then definitely read LeighAnn Dobbs series, any of them, they’re great! I highly recommend!
A fun, entertaining read. I enjoy reading Leighann Dobbs stories.
I enjoy mysteries and trying to determine who the culprit is before the characters do. A great group of characters and I enjoy the recipes at the end.
This book was good and very entertaining. One of Leighann Dobbs’ better novels.
A “sweet “ read (no pun intended!)
I love the characters, especially the senior sleuths!
Fluff
Very cozy mystery
A deadly dessert!
Lexi Baker and the Ladies Detective Club are on a new case trying to determine if Regis Banks, a wealthy client, died of natural causes at his birthday party or if he was murdered. There are plenty of suspects because of his business dealings and his relationship with his three adult children.
This is another fun Lexi Baker cozy mystery. I enjoy the antics of Lexi’s grandmother Nan and the other elderly women in the Ladies Detective Club. They always have some scheme to ferret out the clues and the murderer.
This is a fun read with death, mystery and plot twists, and a surprise ending! I received a free copy of the book but my opinions are honest and voluntary and I would definitely like to read more books in the series.
I like this author she truly writes a cozy mystery
Worth the read
I enjoy reading a good mystery even though I predicted some of the turn of events. The pine scent had me buffaloed. 🙂
The characters lack depth and spend all their time stuffing their faces. Almost every sentence, every action is related to food. The killer was very apparent. The only reason I finished this book was to confirm that I had correctly guessed the killer’s identity.
It was ok, I read it all the way through. It was entertaining for a quick read.
I love all the books in this series. Silly but fun to read and easy reading
