“What made this ebook such pleasurable reading was not the murder or even the Police procedure, but the rather wonderful cast of characters that the author, Emma Jameson, has created to populate her world. In the space of about 184 pages, Emma has managed to give us a whole collection of individuals, each very nicely rounded out and real. Even very minor players – such as the tall PC who finds … the pistol seems to be alive and obviously has a life outside the book.” — Tony Cole, eBookanoid.com
Anthony Hetheridge, ninth Baron of Wellegrave, Chief Superintendent for New Scotland Yard, never married, no children, no pets, no hobbies, and not even an interesting vice, will turn sixty in three weeks. With the exception of his chosen career, too sordid for his blue-blooded family to condone, his life has been safe and predictable. But then he meets Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield – beautiful, willful, and nearly half his age. When Hetheridge saves the outspoken, impetuous young detective from getting the sack, siding with her against Scotland Yard’s powerful male hierarchy, his cold, elegantly balanced world spins out of control. Summoned to London’s fashionable Belgravia to investigate the brutal murder of a financier, Hetheridge must catch the killer while coping with his growing attraction to Kate, the reappearance of an old flame, and the secret that emerges from his own past.

I loved this book. I’ve read the series and looking for more. Captivating story line set in England.
This a British mystery with a wealthy Lord who is also a superintendent in Scotland Yard. He falls in love with a commoner who works as a detective on his team. Very unlikely relationship because he’s almost 30 years older than she is. They solve crimes but it is a very slow moving book . This the first book in the series. It is a good book if …
Ice Blue is a good beginning to a great series. Not a cliffhanger, but the characters are so engaging that I immediately purchased the rest of the series. If you like Louise Penny’s Chief Inspector Gamache, you will love Emma Jameson’s Chief Superintendent Hetheridge.
I truly loved this book! I was drawn into the characters right in the beginning & did not put it down until I finished it. Even then I hated to let it go so I re-read the last two chapters.
Learning the British vocabulary.
An English mystery with a quirky ending. Worth wading through
Enjoyed it start to finish. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Since I love to read British mysteries, this had a different sort of twist. a CID who just happens to also be a Lord. He has served well in the police department, kept his rigid demeanor and clean reputation. Well-dressed, polite, tough & hard when necessary and never married. Now facing 60 with his eyes on retirement he finds a bright star in …
I enjoy the characters. Mysteries are complicated enough to keep you guessing.
All in this series are a good read! Great writing.
Great mystery and suspense-filled.
Loved this book so much I tore through the rest of the series!
This is a new author for me and I really enjoyed her interesting characters. The murders were part of the interest. as well as, the suspects. Was a little concerned the main characters would go too far too fast, but the author reigned that in so the interest continues.
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the characters — I would not call them “wonderful” — but they were likable and the plot kept my interest.
loved it; had already read Blue Murder and realized it came after and was going to read it again and looked on my Kindle and somehow it has disappeared!
Can’t wait for #4.
A good solid mystery.
Well written
Fun English police procedural with a bit of unlikely Romance thrown in. Good story, not entirely predictable. Action, a bit of bad guy fright and a happy ending, though a bit of a drop off if you want to know how the romance turns out. Would read the next one in the series, but didn’t feel like I just HAD to read it.
Engaging characters. I’ll definitely read the rest of this series.
