Congratulations!” Next Generation Indie Book Awards The debut bestseller that has sold more than 400,000 Kindle and paperback versions! ICE! Archaeologist Leah Andrews stumbles upon something inexplicable in southwestern New Mexico: inside a dark … southwestern New Mexico: inside a dark cavern lies an undiscovered, Native American cliff dwelling abandoned for 800 years. While twisting through one of the narrow underground passageways, Leah’s flashlight illuminates the remains of a violent massacre.
Ancient human remains—all slaughtered in a long-ago massacre—cover the cavern floor, along with several brilliantly colored, granite crystals. The rare gems are native to only one place on earth: a frozen mountain range in central Antarctica.
Could Native Americans have traveled to the frozen continent of Antarctica 800 years before the first known human exploration? If so, how? And why?
There’s only one person who can get Leah to those mountains in Antarctica: her estranged husband and climbing guide Jack Hobson.
At their destination, they make a stunning discovery that will change history and science forever. But Leah’s team is far from the only interested party.
As her secret makes its way to the highest levels of government, a race to seize the Russian-claimed Antarctic territory brings the world to the brink of nuclear conflict.

This was a fun fast read. I wouldn’t call it “mind blowing” but it was entertaining and in light of current events this was very believable .
Read the series. Not sure if it was realistic but it was a different storyline which I did enjoy. Lots of action and enjoyable characters. I was a bit confused about the time-line and the conclusion with the third book needs a better explanation. All in all a fun read.
Was well written and kept me turning pages till I got to the end. Then wished there was more.
Well written, flows.
Great adventure story mixing science with exploration. Would have rated it higher except for myriad typographical errors. Shame.
Still need to read the sequel. First book was fascinating. Great characters.
What comes Next?
This book captured me from the very 1st page. Read it was like watching an action film that was never dull moment. I could not put it down.
There are a ton of action-thriller’s out there, and they are all kind of the same old song and dance. There are a few authors like Dan Brown, that can take the genre to a higher level, but over all it is the same story just with different characters. I enjoyed this one because even though it had kind of the same premise (male and female co-protagonists, major mystery that seems too far fetched to be true, daring / close call action) there was the SciFi factor thrown in that allows the plot line to stray from the same worn out one that we are all familiar with. This book starts out with a SciFi situation, and though it sticks to pure fiction through most of it, it feathers back in to the SciFi side of things smoothly toward the end. Bear in mind, this is part of a trilogy, and not a stand alone novel. I thought both the main and secondary characters were solid, and though there is a relationship between the two primary protagonists, the writer does not include a lot of unnecessary romatic/sexual tension that isn’t really required. I’m looking forward to reading the second book to see where this story goes. There was a minor “conspiracy” involved in the story, but it wasn’t the driving factor in what happened.
I thoroughly enjoyed falling into this world.. I was connected to the Characters, the locations and the story… at every level…. I will start the second book in the series… tomorrow! I just ordered it!
Writer did good!!
Well, I wanted to read something that I could read just a couple chapters a day so I wouldn’t fly through it, but that didn’t happen. From the moment the I met your characters I was hooked and couldn’t put it down… I’m totally downloading the next one today… I’m not getting anything done now that I’m into this series… Thank you for a great READ!!!
This is a nonstop action thriller with a terrific plot and cast of characters. The plot develops an interesting storyline that perfectly integrates realistic characters and all to believable tale of government gone awry.
This is book 1 of 3 books and they were all terrific
This book was just okay for me. I got a bit worn out with the main female character always mouthing off with wisecracks almost every time she said something. She was written in to be this overly tough , not scared of anyone or anything…ever, “She-man”!! A certain amount of this is okay, but not constantly throughout the entire book. It just took away a lot of the story for me. This is only my opinion…. Others might like the book.
Very unusual and extremely interesting
Three book series – great read! Did not go where I expected it to go.
4.5 stars.
The only thing I found I didn’t like in this story was some spelling mistakes. I thoroughly enjoyed the archaeological findings, the climbing aspect and the whole Antarctica surprise . Bring on book 2!
Love a book that also mixes with true events
You will be disappointed in the ending, leaving this as just an unresolved installment of a serial. This is also unsatisfying as a Native American mystery. Best described as an action adventure with one dimensional characters.
What happened to the Anasazi is an enduring mystery of the pre-Columbus North American Southwest and author Kevin Tinto offers a unique explanation in his thriller, ICE—it’s an explanation that threatens to launch World War III.
Tinto builds his novel on the backs of rogue archaeologist, Leah Andrews, and celebrity mountain climber, Jack Hobson—an estranged married couple who Tinto clearly intends to keep together. They bring a complimentary set of skills to the problem of chasing down the solution to the Anasazi mystery which ends up taking them into the heart of Antarctica.
Frankly the mystery and its solution is a little weak, but the villains more than make up for it. There is something utterly delightful about watching dumb, corrupt, politicians operate and ultimately get out maneuvered. The various maneuvers and counter maneuvers weren’t necessarily believable—pointing out specific examples would spoil the book—but the melodrama they created was a lot of fun. If you’re looking for a thriller you don’t have to take too seriously, you’ll probably enjoy ICE.
