Wonderful story, adrenaline rush.
All kinds of emotions to feel when reading this book, total adrenaline from the suspense and the depth of the characters and what they each go through. So much intensity in this story, I loved it. Cort is a bush pilot in Alaska who lives and flies on the edge and Kaylie is coming back to Alaska after 10 years of living in the lower 48, she won’t take risks at all. Her family has disappeared and someone wants Kaylie to die. It takes a while to figure out who is the bad person, but when you do, watch out. Diamonds and high flying adventures. “You hide from life, But somehow you’ve got more spark than anyone I’ve ever met.” Totally recommend this read.
ICE (Alaskan Heat) is a sizzling hot, romantic, thrilling suspense novel. This book has it all, plus it is action-packed. It was one of those books that was hard to put down once you started. Lots of mystery, too!
Rugged Alaskan bush pilot, Cort McClaine, knows he must protect the woman who hired him to find her missing family, after a deadly madman is stalking her. Her name is Kaylie Fletcher and originally from Alaska. When she left she vowed never to return, but her only family was missing, and she wouldn’t leave until she found them.
As Kaylie’s plane touched down onto the tarmac, her dread of Alaska returned. As she looked out the airplane window to see the alluring temptation of blue sky and snowy peaked mountains, plus the feeling of freedom. To her it was only a facade for the darkness that lay deep in this territory. She would leave again as soon as her family was found. That was her thoughts, until she met her alpha-hero, Cort McCaine. Their instantaneous attraction for each other would change everything.
Enjoyed. Mystery solving and a little romance is just the thing.

5 stars
I have had this on my kindle app forever or it seems like it. Holy Cow it was awesome. It has action, suspense, and sex. I could not put it down. It grabbed me from the very first page and I forgot the world around me. Two people who are totally different and have had horrible tragedy in their lives, find peace and happiness.
Kaylie likes her nice, safe life. She is nothing like her adrenaline junkie family. Her parents and brother are climbing in Alaska, when they are lost. She rushes there, even though she’s not seen her parents in ten years, after getting a call saying her mother is alive. Her best friend, Sara, hires her a bush pilot to take her to the last place they were to have been. When she arrives, she gets a voicemail from her friend, panicking and then the line goes dead. Cort is a bush pilot and is sent to get Kaylie but automatically assumes she high maintenance. Cort is not the pilot hired to fly her but his best friend is married to Sara. They fly to their cabin and what awaits them is horrifying. Now someone is stalking Kaylie and they can’t understand why. Cort has promised to protect her but can he protect his heart too?
3.5 stars–ICE is the first instalment in Stephanie Rowe’s contemporary, adult ALASKA HEAT romantic suspense series set in the wilderness of Alaska. This is pilot Cort McClaine, and Kaylie Fletcher’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers
Told from several third person perspectives including Cort and Kaylie ICE focuses on Kaylie Fletcher’s search for her family. Mountain climbing was her parents’ passion but a phone call telling Kaylie her mother survived a fatal climbing expedition on Mount McKinley forced our heroine to venture into the wilds of Alaska, something she promised herself she would never do. Hoping to stay with her friend Sara and her husband Jackson, Kaylie found herself facing pilot Cort McClaine, a man who stirred something within our story line heroine but all was not well when Cort and Kaylie arrived, and in the ensuing melee our couple will discover that death was awaiting them upon their return. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Cort and Kaylie, and the potential fall out as Kaylie becomes the target of an obsessed stalker, someone who knows too much about Kaylie, and the family she lost.
The relationship between Kaylie and Cort is one of immediate attraction but Kaylie is a city girl and wants nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the Alaska wilderness. Cort’s life is in the air, and the surrounding greenery of the state of Alaska but falling in love with Kaylie brought too many memories of another woman from his past, another woman who wanted nothing to do with Cort’s lifestyle or the land upon which he lived. The back and forth, up and down, constant push and pull between our leading couple is filled with anxiety, stress, sexual tension and the arrogance of two people who refuse to accept the other for who they are, and what they represent. Saying that, Cort and Kaylie had nothing in common but the sexual tension that ran tight and strong-at every opportunity Kaylie was pushing Cort away, and Cort’s demons from the past continue to push him over the edge. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Kaylie’s brother Mason; Cort’s friend Luke Webber; Charity Simms; Old Tom; Troopers Bill Man, and Richie Parker.
ICE is a story of family, friendships, obsession and betrayal. The action packed premise is dramatic and intense; the romance struggles in the face of preconceived notions; the characters are animated, compelling but vulnerable. This one was a bit of a struggle -perhaps a little less friction between our leading couple would have made for a more believable happily ever after.
very good read
This is action-packed from the very beginning, and doesn’t stop. The characters are many-faceted, and the plot twists and turns. It was very enjoyable, and I will look for more of this series.
A little over the top tragedies going on but I really like this author.
This book was OK. I never quite connected with Cort or Kaylie nor did I see their connection to each other in this “insta love “ romantic suspense. There were too many blanks in both characters back stories. How did kaylie survive leaving home at 16? Who raised Cort when his parents died when he was14? It passed the time and I’m glad I got it as a freebie. I don’t think I will continue with the remainder of the series.
Sorry to say but I just didn’t want to finish reading the book. I just couldn’t proceed further.
Scattered plot, unrealistic, rambling
Great story with lots of thrills and lots of time for the love story to unfold. Very enjoyable read.
Stephanie Rowe…..I LOVED this book!! I am definitely going to be searching- out your other gems! On a down-side? I lost sleep reading this book! I couldn’t put it down
Thanks,
Stephanie!
