Suzan’s. books never fail to entertain me. When I need downtime, she’s a go-to, and her books get better and better. Great storyline. Great characters. And a mystery to solve! What’s not to love?
Another great read!
I found I liked this author and want to read more books in the series and the other series.
Great reading could not put it down. I love the information about the area and history.
An Extraordinarily Addictive Series!
Capivated from page one, Rose and Ian’s tumultuous romance, their subsequent marriage, a dramatic and bloody kidnapping, kept me reading continuously until the very end.
While I found this book a little bit slow to get into, it actually contained a bit of mystery and a lot of adventure. The story is about the love and romance between Ian and Rose, who had first met in a previous book by the author. The first few chapters deal with painful misunderstandings and hang-ups from their past, that keep them apart. This was the least enjoyable part of the book, as Ian acted completely irrational for reasons that weren’t clear to the reader (and perhaps not to Ian.) However, perservering through that part, the book improves. We then get to the heart of the story, where Ian is commissioned as acting chief of his brother Frederick’s clan, the MaLaren’s. The story then covers the travel to, and rebuilding of the MacLaren lands. The story then gets immersing, as we learn about all the different people in the clan. The latter 3rd of the book is the most interesting, and deals with Rose being kidnapped by a rival clan, and the mechanisms needed to get her back. It’s clear there was a traiter involved in her kidnapping, but it’s unclear which clansperson betrayed her. Then there is an offer from a traitor in the rival clan, to help get Rose back, but it’s unclear how much the rival traitor should be trusted. The overarching theme of the book is deep friendship and love between people.
I am enjoying this series. Ian’s Rose is Book One in The Mackintoshes and McLarens series. Ian is truly a hero and leader in this book. He is also a wonderful husband who would do anything to keep his bride and clan safe. As usual, the book is well-written, the historical references are well-researched, and there is romance, romance, and romance. Each story in this series revealed how each of the main male lead, meet his future bride, Along the way is of course action, adventure, and conflict. I have read the other two books in this series and enjoyed them as much or more as I have enjoyed this book. The books in the series could easily stand alone due to the expertly way the author crosses over the introduction of the characters in each book, but they are so engrossing and entertaining, you will want to read the whole series.
I couldn’t help but bond with the characters in this story and look forward to reading the sequels.
Ian’s Rose was a very surprising and entertaining story. This is the first book I have read set in the 14th century and although the story is fictional it gives you a great insight into how people lived in Scotland at that time. Well and truly worth reading, I loved it!

Love this series
Love the characters in this book.
Good book to read.
One of my favorite authors, Scottish hero, and time period.
Very much enjoyed Rose & Ian’s story. Loved the interconnected story lines. The details and the fact that the love story evolves over time instead of only days or weeks made it more real to me. Looking forward to Alec & Feona.
another one you have to read because it’s that good
