In her trilogy, IAN’S REALM, D L Gardner created an amazing fantasy world with a hint of Science Fiction tucked in. It is a timeless story of intrigue, danger, and friendship as boy learns the truth about himself and edges into adulthood.
I just got the set on Friday, and can’t put it down. The main character reminds me of my son so much that he’s reading it too and also is enjoying the books.
I enjoyed Book 1. It kept me going and I’m starting Book 2. If you like fantasy novels, this ones for you.
They make a video game and go into another dimension. There’s a group of villagers that are under control of a dragon. There was a lot of action, and it was unpredictable. (11 year old boy, advanced reader.)
I loved this book! An easy six stars out of five. What I didn’t like is the seeming ending. He needs to go BACK INTO THE REALM!
READ IT TO BELIEVE IT!!!
This is an incredible journey where you follow the characters through all the ups and downs. As well as in and outs, these characters face obsticals they never dreamed of. You’re in so deep, your biting your nails through the terror. Cry when its sad and face challenges that will rock your world. I have to admit the more I read of D’s amazing work, the more I come to respect her incredible ability to bring these scenes to life. I would recommend this read to I who loves the unexpected.
I received an ARC copy for this story.
I have not only read this book but I listened to the audiobook. Dianne’s creativity has impressed me. She has created this entire world and continues to add books to the series. It has held my attention and was such a joy to read. Not unlike the Narnia Chronicles. I would highly recommend this series to anyone. This book contains what used to be the first 3 books now in one volume. It follows the story of Ian. A young man who helps his father build a midivil computer game. A portal opens up and they are able to go into the program where adventure awaits them. Could Ian and his father be the ones prophesied about that would come and rescue them from the dragon? Find out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
Interesting premise, great world building and fun to think about. The first book could have been a stand alone but it felt like then the writer had more in their mind to share. The books worked and I liked them but by the end I wasn’t as engaged. YA novel but still enjoyed it.
I just couldn’t get into this enough to finish it. The read seemed more laborious than relaxing as I tend to enjoy. I could be a really great book but for me it was to drawn out and slow to keep me engaged enough to get into it.
The grammar and the way the story is written jumps quite a bit in the beginning and leaves a lot of gap.
