Fannie Flagg’s characters are always as colorful as she is. I so enjoyed this book so much. I would read it again and that is high praise for me indeed!!
Oh my goodness! This was a fun version of A Man Called Ove. Between Hazel, Maggie, and Brenda, they had you chuckling. And you loved to absolutely hate Babs.
While the thought of suicide and the effort anyone would put into the act of ending their life is serious. But I don’t believe that was the purpose of this book. I believe the author wanted …
A feel-good book!
One of the best
love all her books!
I love Fanny Flagg and this didn’t disappoint. Great characters and lovely twists.
Sweet and lovely. Maggie is a former Miss Alabama who, unmarried and with dreams unrealized at 60, realizes she has nothing to look forward to and makes careful, ever-lady-like plans for her suicide. However, her plans are regularly thwarted by events around her, giving her time to see value in surviving and find meaning in life. My favorite …
Extremely well-written, as are all Fannie Flagg’s novels. Great characters. I was particularly taken with her inclusion of a little person as a vibrant, realistic character. There was no stereotyping, which is great.
One of my favorites.
I usually love her work but I could not get into this one. I’ll try again.
Very touching story, typical Fannie Flagg.
Ok read. Slow start, gets better the last half.
Loved the characters!
Somewhat charming, pleasant to read and Daisy Fay is funny. I have not found any of Fannie Flagg books matching Fried Green Tomatoes though.
I love every Fanny Flagg book that I read!
Who doesn’t love a Fannie Flagg book?!?
Fannie Flagg always delivers. This book is full of what might have been, but also lots inspiration to keep striving. Her characters are realistic and optimistic, even the bad egg, who, in today’s stressful climate of “me first,” is, unfortunately, all too realistic. There’s mystery, romance, hilarity, pain, and resolution. Good read.
Equal parts humorous, Southern charm, wisdom, and mystery. I needed something a bit more light fun, following a heavier read, and this fit the bill. The characters were amusing and likable. There was some way to identify with how they felt, even if you chuckled at their antics or rolled your eyes at their quirks or names. The lesson isn’t unique, …
This was a good book, but a disappointment in light of other Fannie Flagg novels.
I liked the mystery in this book, elderly ladies, house to sell, skeleton in the attic, whose was it, and how can Maggie commit suicide with all this going on? It is a delightful Read.
