“[A] well-told suspense story…refreshingly realistic.”—The New York Times Book Review “Danger feels real in the brilliant I See You…Mackintosh seems destined to do important work for many years to come.”—The Washington Post “Mackintosh allots her characters the perfect amount of back story, allowing them to carry their own weight throughout the investigation. She also casts enough extras to … the investigation. She also casts enough extras to keep readers guessing who could be behind these attacks…readers may find themselves wanting to reread this one.”—Associated Press
“[A] deliciously creepy tale of urban paranoia.”—Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in Cabin 10
The author of the New York Times bestseller I Let You Go propels readers into a dark and claustrophobic thriller, in which a normal, everyday woman becomes trapped in the confines of her normal, everyday world…
Every morning and evening, Zoe Walker takes the same route to the train station, waits at a certain place on the platform, finds her favorite spot in the car, never suspecting that someone is watching her…
It all starts with a classified ad. During her commute home one night, while glancing through her local paper, Zoe sees her own face staring back at her; a grainy photo along with a phone number and a listing for a website called FindTheOne.com.
Other women begin appearing in the same ad, a different one every day, and Zoe realizes they’ve become the victims of increasingly violent crimes—including murder. With the help of a determined cop, she uncovers the ad’s twisted purpose…A discovery that turns her paranoia into full-blown panic. Zoe is sure that someone close to her has set her up as the next target.
And now that man on the train—the one smiling at Zoe from across the car—could be more than just a friendly stranger. He could be someone who has deliberately chosen her and is ready to make his next move…

Didn’t see that ending coming. Good read. A little slow and confusing in the beginning, but well worth the read.
It’s good -you keep wanting to read it but just wasn’t satisfied with the wrap up. Also could this really happen? Just wasn’t deep enough.
This was a mix of psychological thriller and police procedural and a superior example of both genres. The author’s background in the police was put to good use in describing the police investigation and surveillance techniques. Procedures certainly seemed authentic to me. The author evokes a great sense of place with convincing descriptions of journeys on the London Underground.
This is good, smooth writing. The passages where the main character thinks she’s being followed are electrifying.
Dumb !!
You might start to look over your shoulder as you go about your daily activities after reading this book. Loved it!
I See You by Clare Mackintosh is a story about a woman, Zoe Walker, who sees her picture in an ad in a London newspaper which starts a chain of events both mysterious and dangerous. This book started really slow, but the more I read the more intriguing it became. The characters are fairly developed and the story is written well. The ending was unexpected, which was exciting, but left me wondering if there will be another book about Zoe Walker.
Heartstopping Page Turner!!! I See You By: Clare Mackintosh is unputdownable, an absolute page turner! Terrifying to the end. I listened via Audible, Narration By: Rachel Atkins is absolute perfection!!! I very highly recommend!!!
I was very excited about “I See You” – it seemed that all of the sudden it was everywhere in the thriller world – but I was let down. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. The characters were rather two dimensional and while I wouldn’t exactly say I saw the ending coming, it wasn’t out-of-the-blue, either. It was a good, quick read, but not the stand-out novel I was expecting.
A woman sees her own face in a classified ad. What does that mean? She feels that she is in danger and needs to get the police to take her seriously before it’s too late. The characters were so believable and real and the story was INTENSE. I could not put it down.
One of the best books I have read in the past year. Creepy but realistic.
Great read!!
A huge compliment to the Author: I did NOT see this ending coming. This was a true page turner.
Left you hanging for the sequel
An interesting and creative story line with some good twists which is why 4 stars rather than 3; however, some key details are very contrived and character development suffers as secondary to plot
Good plot – story line was fairly decent and the ending was a surprise.
Big surprise ending. Brrrrrr! Good Read!!! Enjoyed!!
I really enjoyed this British thriller. Very likeable characters and a plot steeped in the dangers of technology surveillance. A great unexpected twist at the end.
Very disappointing.
