You know when you finish a book and you are left ambivalent about what you just read? That is exactly how I feel about this book. Mark was an enigma, and not in a good way. Hannah, for being the strong, independent woman she was, turned out to be a bit of a doormat. I’m not sure how I felt about the brief interlude with Luis. But, the twists were interesting, the ending was unexpected, so some things were worth the read. I’ve read better from Kiersten Modglin, this wasn’t one of my favorites.
5 stars for I Said Yes by Kiersten Modglin. This is extremely different from what I normally read. This is a psychological thriller. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. I stated this book thinking I would only read for about an hour or so, boy was I wrong. I finished it in one sitting. Mark and Hannah meet, fell in love, and got married. While they are different, opposites do attract right. Everything changes and soon it is all unraveling. I was kept guessing and just could not figure out what would happen next. Secrets that have been buried, bring the question of “who did I marry” so the forefront. Kiersten Modglin is a phenomenal author and this book is a great example of why. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions stated are my own.
Ms.Modglin has written a very satisfying psychological thriller with twists and turns that kept me reading late into the night. Hannah, a pharmaceutical rep who traveled the world, was a strong independent woman until she married Mark. On an unexpected layover in Atlanta while killing time in a bar the bartender asked her to go out with him after work and she said yes. Throughout her marriage she kept saying yes, moving across country to live with him and giving up her job when he asked her to, thus losing her independence. We learn quite a bit about Hannah’s background but Mark never really shares his. He tells her he is a recovering alcoholic, 3 years sober, and alludes to a lousy childhood but stops at that. Their perfect marriage soon shows cracks that become insurmountable. Yet instead of leaving Mark, Hannah tries to help him. When she finally learns Mark’s background, it isn’t pretty and it’s too late for her to leave. The story is told by alternately by Mark and Hannah moving back to when they met and forward to the present. It is not confusing except where it is supposed to be, and you will have to read it to see what I mean. To me the ending was unexpected, always a good thing in a mystery. I received a copy of this from BookFunnel but I am leaving this review voluntarily because I want to share a good book.
As far as thrillers go, this one will keep you guessing until the end. There is even an unexpected twist towards the end. It is well written, and enjoyable. I would love to be able to give another star, but just couldn’t.
I felt that Hannah was far to easy going, living in denial, and blind to the world around her. I have met some naive women in my life, me ex-husband proved me to be one a well. However, I don’t think I have ever met one as bad as Hannah. In the beginning she is a career driven woman, in a job she loves, and making excellent money. I had trouble believing a woman like that could even agree to becoming the wife that Mark had her being. If she had been a slightly more believable character this would have been a 4 star read for me, maybe even a 5 star.
Hannah and Mark’s marriage was turmoil. As this read progresses each learns that maybe they don’t know everything about their spouse. There is many secrets. There was plenty of times that I wanted to throttle each one of them. I you want to read a thriller that keeps you guessing then give this story a chance. Just when you think you have something figured out there is a twist that makes you gasp. You will be on the edge of your seat to see what is next.
Really enjoy this book. Once I realized the twist in the book, I tried to figure out what was going to happen. The ending really surprised me. Great read.

I couldn’t put this book down! It had me from the start and kept me on edge the entire book. Hannah said yes when Mark asked her to have dinner with him and asked her to move across the country to live with him. She said yes when proposed and again when he asked her to give up her job to stay at home. It was later she began to wonder what secrets he was keeping and just what she didn’t know about him.
Wowser !!!!

Dang! Kiersten Modglin sure can write an amazing thriller! I’ve been a fan of hers for some time now so whenever I see she has a new book, I can hardly wait to get my hands on it. I don’t even need to read the blurb to know it’s a must read and I Said Yes was no different. It was dark and suspenseful with plenty of twists & turns to keep the reader guessing until the very end.
OMG this thriller was fantastic! Hooking me from the very first chapter, this well written story is fast paced, gripping, suspenseful, secretive, emotional and had me on the edge of my seat trying to guess the twists and turns and failing miserably! Another great read from this author that I would totally recommend!

This book was crazy! It’s a “have you on the seat of your chair” good. It makes you scratch your head and wonder what exactly is going on, and what is going to happen next. I like that the story was set up in the beginning and you just have to find your way through the twists, turns, and dead ends to find out what happened and who did it to whom. Wow!
Another fantastic read!! The story is superb and will keep you guessing until the very end. I simply do not have the words to describe this book without giving anything away. All I can say is read it!!! She is a master of suspense with her ability to suck you in with every word and make you lose all sense of time.
A great thriller written the way only Kiersten Modlgin can. It grips you from the very first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat in suspense with every new twist and turn until the end. I never saw the ending coming. WOW!
An absolute must read for all thriller fans!

I Said Yes is a 2-day read:
Once the first day and again the second.
Kiersten Modglin will take you on a journey of twists and turns so unexpected that you will want to reread the book to see if you can catch all of her well-hidden clues.
Warning If you want to sleep don’t start it before bed, you won’t be able to put it down.
Seriously this suspense novel will hook you from page one. I mean what a better way to start a book then opening with both your main characters behind bars. It’s compelling, invigorating and not to be underestimated. The characters stories are driven, plotted to perfection and twisted like none other.
