This classic science fiction masterwork by Isaac Asimov weaves stories about robots, humanity, and the deep questions of existence into a novel of shocking intelligence and heart. “A must-read for science-fiction buffs and literature enjoyers alike.”—The Guardian I, Robot, the first and most widely read book in Asimov’s Robot series, forever changed the world’s perception of artificial … the world’s perception of artificial intelligence. Here are stories of robots gone mad, of mind-reading robots, and robots with a sense of humor. Of robot politicians, and robots who secretly run the world—all told with the dramatic blend of science fact and science fiction that has become Asimov’s trademark.
The Three Laws of Robotics:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
With these three, simple directives, Isaac Asimov formulated the laws governing robots’ behavior. In I, Robot, Asimov chronicles the development of the robot from its primitive origins in the present to its ultimate perfection in the not-so-distant future—a future in which humanity itself may be rendered obsolete.
“Tremendously exciting and entertaining . . . Asimov dramatizes an interesting question: How can we live with machines that, generation by generation, grow more intelligent than their creators and not eventually clash with our own invention?”—The Chicago Tribune

The quintessential robot book by the inventor of the 3 laws of robotic. He then took that seemingly Iron-clad logical loop of protection for humans and found novel ways to cause problems but not break the laws! Very clever stories by one of the masters of science fiction. Not like the movie, but better. Give it a read!
Must-read Science Fiction. This is one of the pillars of Sci-Fi. Check it out.
Another book where I was fortunate enough to read the book before I saw the movie. Guess those indeed were good old days where print content was much more accessible than streaming. While the movie rocked with Will Smith and all, the book really takes the case in simplicity with which Asimov presents the Sci-Fi concepts. He doesn’t aim to …
A masterpiece, the seminal book in science fiction robotics.
The movie I, Robot is one of my favorites. I picked up the book, thinking it would be somewhat similar. It’s totally different. 🙂 And very good!
I, Robot is a collection of short stories, told by a former employee, a psychologist for the robots. The stories get better and better towards the end. They explore how robots evolved, how one of them …
A true classic. Grand-daddy of all robot stories.
One of Asimovs best! Classic scifi!
Couple of last ones were good compare to from the beginning. They were short stories so not much of favourite character. Exploration of ideas were pretty amazing and really liked how 3 rules can be used to create so much great potential of stories. Main fault i felt was the beginning stories were pretty slow so it took me toouch of time. Would …
Good science fiction ahead of the times. You can’t go wrong with Asomov!
This is a classic sci-fi read.
This is the classic book on robots. Everyone else had to pay homage to Asimov’s masterpiece.
Good old sf
Isaac has been my favorite author for decades. Despite their age, the stores touch on the human reaction to other intelligence that resonates today.
Is the their anyone better in the genre?
Classic SciFi
A personal library must.
Fantastic novel, or collection of stories as it were. I read this after seeing the movie and was surprised to find something completely different, and much better. I hope the laws of robotics stick around as the world becomes more and more automated.
Great book in the series of Robot books
also a good robot book
A classic from one of the founding fathers of SF. Without Asimov there would have been no Data.
One of the foundational sci-fi books that started me as a reader
