It was supposed to be a game.I Dare You.We brought her in ‘cause I wanted to tplay with her.Destroy her.But plans change and she got caught in the cross fire. Then I did something far worse. I fell in love with her, but she doesn’t know I still have secrets.Ones that could rip us all apart. We’re sharks.Raised to hunt and kill.We take what we want without asking. We’ve never needed permission, so … asking.
We’ve never needed permission, so I’m not about to start now.
You think you know everything, but we’re about to do what we do best and prove you wrong-I Promise You.

omg can someone please tell me where to find my own cole? im all about the bully turned lover! this shark can “bite” me whenever he wants. who doesn’t like a little pain with pleasure? please read!!
So starting off let me say, If you haven’t read I Dare You, DO NOT read this review and go read that book NOW before reading I Promise You! I Promise You gives us a much deeper glance into the mind of Cole Reynolds. I really loved the flashbacks, it gives us more looks into the back story of what ultimately made the GWS’s the BadA** Bully-Vigilantes that we have come to love. We learned some new things too that now leave us with more questions. I’m like “What is happening?” I know that must seem unfathomable to hear me say I love Cole and Deke considering all they have done, I do though!! BUT , you have to remember these guys have grown up in a very eff’d up world. Their fathers are shady AF. They have everyone in that daggum town their back pockets so, those boys in someways were born into that messed up world. They were practically raised knowing how to play these sick and twisted versions of dare and games of how to serve up the best revenge and never be caught! Hell , they probably played some form of them in the backyard as kids when others were playing red rover and playing in sprinklers.. OMG though, grown!! They are all kind of dangerous, dark ,sexy and ALPHA AF.
I loved getting to see the side of Cole when he was admitting how he felt about Austin. I loved just how far he would go to protect her. It was almost…Dare I say, sweet? I guess as sweet as Cole Reynolds is capable of being. I loved the protectiveness Austin had for Cole as well, even after all he’d put her through.
“See, I told you love equals madness. Because she is just as mad as I am. “ Cole
I am really looking forward to Deke’s story, whew knew there WBA’s such a long history with Becky? I’m not so sure how I feel about her right this second. Lots of lies there Becks! I love her sisters one-liner to Deke!
“Never tell someone how you feel twice.
That bitch heard you the first time.” Demi
In wrapping let me say… More mysterious behaviors with some members of the GWS’s remaining crew is showing and I’m ready for If You Dare. I want to see what’s about to go down and how it plays out. I have several things running through my mind, but I’m not telling what I’m thinking. This book was great, you get some of Cole’s POV, Deke’s POV, and Bennett’s POV. If you haven’t started on this series start NOW. This series is awesome. It has suspense, violence, angst, sex, secrets, plot twists, lies upon lies. Ready for your head to spin?
I still love Cole & Austin together.
I love that we get to see Cole finally admit he loves Austin and it definitely shows when Austin ends up in the hospital after the shooting. I do want to say that I LOVE Cole even more during the revenge scene with Kellan!
It’s multiple POV with Cole, Deke, & Bennett. Which I love because we get to get in their heads and see how they think.
Shantel Tessier has done such an incredible job and I seriously can’t wait for If You Dare.
I Promise You is a great follow up of the dark romance that we experienced with the first book, I Dare You. It picks up right where the second book left off and it brought everything that we expected with it; blood, chaos, love, doubt, and violence. Just like the first book, this book is not for the faint of heart but if dark reads are you thing, than I definitely recommend it! I really hope the next book brings more of Deke and Becky because I just know that is going to be a sh$& show of epic proportions!!
Best book of 2019 hands down!!!! It has became one of my favorites!!
This book was awesome! An addicting book series with the sharks! I’ve been loving on Cole and Austin and all the other characters except for Kellan. He was my least favorite of the sharks to begin with. The plot twists and leaves you wanting more. You find out a lot of truths about everyone in this book! I cannot wait for Deke’s story!
This book was fantastic and exactly what I needed to fill some of the blanks book 1 left me with. The crazy just continued. The more twists and turns the story took, the more lies were exposed and secrets revealed, but this also created more questions and doubts about what you actually thought was happening. My mind is reeling! This book is yet again filled with angst, extreme sexiness and twisted craziness. I loved it all! Bring on the next book!!!!
I Promise You by Shantel Tessier is Book 2 in the Dare Series. The books should be read In Order since this book picked up right where I Dare You left off. I have been a huge fan of Shantels for years. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this series as much because I’m not a fan of dark romance but wow! This author can write anything! Cole is a great character even though I wasn’t crazy about him in the very beginning of book one. This series is much more then I thought it would be. Will the sharks be able to overcome what is happened? You definitely do not want to miss out on this series. Most of the characters are great once you get past their edge. Another 5 star read for me. Cannot wait to see what happens next. The ending left me confided and I need more!
If you have read I Dare You then you know what you are in for, if not then I suggest you grab it up now BEFORE you even think about reading I Promise You, or this review for that matter!
I Promise You by Shantel Tessier, the 2nd installment of the I Dare You Series. Both of these books are dark romances filled with secrets, lies, and sweet revenge.
I Promise You is more of a companion book to I Dare You, kind of like if Shantel had made book 1 dual POV then these are the chapters it would have included! Adding those extra POV’s (Cole mostly, but a couple from Bennett and Deke too) was the icing on the cake for me. I Dare You, although it had a few errors, was a 5-star read for me and so is I Promise You. If anything this just made me love book 1 even more honestly.
With I Promise you we get to see Cole’s POV, the secrets he was keeping, not just from Austin but from EVERYONE. There were still unanswered questions for me and now we finally have those answers AND there were a couple of surprises/plot twist that I NEVER would have guessed were happening!
Both of these books are definitely bully romances, and Cole is the King of a group of the bully’s so be prepared before going into either of these stories. BUT the good thing is that in I Promise You, having Cole’s POV helps to… soften him a little? I mean there is no softening that boy AT ALL really lol, but seeing his POV and his thoughts while certain situations were going on, plus getting a glimpse of the way things were when he was growing up, it’s definitely helped me like him a lot more now.
I loved both of these books and I can’t wait to read Deke’s story as well, secrets, lies, and scandal? I’m all over it!
P.S- I’m sure other reviews have mentioned but there was a bit of slut-shaming going on, even though the guys were doing the same shit… didn’t really care for that BUT, you get what you get with a bully romance and honestly… unfortunately, that’s just how it is. with the young crowd.
I highly recommend both of these books (obviously, lol) so grab your copy and dive on into the world of the GWS, the Great White Sharks.
“Because we’re sharks. And what do sharks do? They kill.”
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Highly recommend!!
This is the second book in the series and they need to be read in order.
Cole Reynolds had a plan but everything seems to have turned upside down when the girl he loves, Austin Lowes, is found stabbed in her home and the crime was committed by someone he considered a friend. Now Cole has to prove to Austin that he is there for her after everything that they have been through and he needs to prove to her that he loves her.
But life is never straight forward and initially Cole is deemed a suspect in Austin’s stabbing as they weren’t together at the time but will evidence prove him innocent?
Will Cole finally be able to discover who was responsible for his mother’s death and will Cole finally open up about the truth about the night his best friend was killed in a car accident which he took the blame for?
This is a great series so far and very dark. There are so many secrets and lies being told that you always need to be paying attention as somethings seem to switch very quickly.
Cole is a very strong character who is very determined to “play the game”. In this book we have less of the game playing and learn more about what is behind everything and how people seem to tie in together and there are definitely a lot of surprises for certain characters.
One thing I really liked in this book was seeing a different side of Cole that was so protective of Austin and we really saw his love for her coming through. He would have done anything to keep Austin safe from whomever was threatening her and we see at the beginning how far he would go.
I also really liked Deke in this book and how he had Cole’s back through everything. He had a few revelations in this book as well and I liked seeing things from his point of view. I am crossing my fingers that he is able to get his happy ever after soon as I do really enjoy his character.
Bennett was interesting as I have my guess whom he fell for even though no name was mentioned and now I have to wait and see if they reveal her. If it is who I think it is then I think there is a chance of huge issues coming up and it makes me eager for the next book!
I love Austin’s character. She went through so much at the end of the first book was used and taken advantage by so many different peopke from the first book and into the second. I loved how she really tried to show Cole that he was not the bad person in previous events and how she was frustrated that certain people took advantage of him and let him take the fall. She was truly a good person and I love that she was able to see the positive after everything.
The book gives you hints and what could be coming but at the same time there is so much that could happen or bring them down that you are never sure if your guesses are right!!
I can’t wait for the next one!- By Rebecca
I loved reading the next book in this series! Once again there are so many twists and turns and your left going OMG throughout the whole book. You have no idea whats gonna happen or what your gonna find out next! I seriously cannot wait for Deke’s book so I can read more about these characters and everything!
I loved diving back into the world of the Sharks! This story picked up right where the first left off (before the epilogue) and alternates between the POVs of Cole and Deke.
I fell harder and faster for Cole with this book. His redeeming qualities really shined through and showed how he was truly capable of loving, caring and protecting. The lengths he went for Austin were never ending. I was so happy to see him stand up for what he believed in and cared about, even if it meant crossing his powerful father and anyone else who stood in his way.
Deke, one of my favorite side characters also stepped up his game in this read and proved himself not only as a loyal friend but also a lover. He was truly the glue that held the gang together (or helped weed out the bad apples) and he proved his unwavering loyalty time and time again!
This read was full of suspense, deceit, lust, violence, betrayal, love and uncertainty! It did get confusing at times with so much going on at once and numerous characters going rouge but smoothed out in the end with clarity and jaw dropping satisfaction. The next installment of this story cannot come soon enough!
The gang from “I Dare You” is back and there are even more lies and betrayals to have you gasping out loud. “I Promise You” starts where “I Dare You” left off with Austin hurt and Cole finding her. It still has that raw, dark and passionate story of friends who are living their lives day to day in order to survive. It is filled with even more secrets and betrayals that I couldn’t believe that there is even more that needs to be unveiled. I loved that there were point of views from Deke, Bennett, and Becky this time around because we get a small taste of how their minds work. The way each character is living in their own darkness is what pulls you in. Cole and Deke live for one another and even though Cole has Austin he never leaves behind his friend. Austin and Cole still have that intensity we all look for in a relationship. He found the one person that can bring him to his knees. Austin found the one person that can give her the love she has been hoping for. Those two together is passionate and dark that will leave you breathless. The way he loves her and protects her is phenomenal and dangerous. We find out so many secrets in just this book I don’t know if I can’t take waiting for the other shoe to drop. I know there will be more murder, mayhem and betrayal coming our way the further we get into the series. We have not seen the last of Cole and Austin because a story like theirs does not end with them. Even though the dares have come to an end in this book Cole is making promises that he intends to keep.
I would call “I Promise You” a psychological romance if that was ever a category. It leaves you in suspense and manipulates your thinking when you think you know who the betrayer could be. There is a constant overwhelming feeling of what is coming next when I read each scene and I love when a story can take me to places of the unknown. I love that I can guess who Bennett is seeing secretly. I love the fact that Deke still has more secrets and Becky keep lying to those she supposed to care about. Cole and Austin have their story tied up into a neat bow with this story and it leads the way for the other characters to get theirs. The story of these characters are not quite over. I believe there is more to come and we have not seen the last of the gang of the Dare series. It’s only the beginning and I know I am looking forward to more of their brand of trouble.
Reading this book, I had to stop and tale a breather for a while. Collect myself, along with my sanity.
This book is not just a continuation of I Dare You. It was also a part of revelations from the previous books along with the buried lies and secrets and here you will see in depth traits of each characters. You will see and feel the morbid details of their secrets and how each of it unfolds and affects each one of them.
This book was brilliantly done by the author. She managed to cover loop holes and answer unanswered questions you have.
The plot thickens just from the first page towards the end, ready to explode. I can’t wait for its explosion in If You Dare, 3rd book and will be for Deke’s story.
I promise you is the 2nd book in the series. I finally got the answers that I needed from Book 1. It makes you think on who your friends are and who really are loyal and have your back. Shantel gave you the twists and turns on this baby and let me tell you, you will want to read it! Cant wait for the next one for sure
*Must read I Dare You before starting this book*
“Every love story demands a sacrifice.”
WOW. What a ride!
I won’t lie, I was confused during a lot of this book and still am cause I need answers! Shantel will leave you with a dozen questions, reeling and aching for more Sharks.
Full of suspense and action packed, I Promise You picks up right where IDY left off and is just as good, if not better!
I’m still madly in love with both Cole and Austin.
Be prepared to scream and shout cause these boys and this EPIC mystery will put you through the wringer.
One thing I will say though? Go in with an open mind. Nothing is ever as it seems with the GWS…..
GAH!! I am in love with this book! This is a follow up to I Dare You – you MUST read IDY before this one. This is an amazingly written dark read. Fast-paced, twisty and suspenseful. I think it was the perfect follow up and I need more RIGHT NOW!!
By Golly!! Shantel does it again with her creepy and dark romance. This was even gorry or should I say suspenseful and wicked than the last. She never ceases to amaze me with her twisted sense of humor throughout this book. The GWS sharks are just that. Sharks who prowl and protect what belongs to them and attacks at the tiniest pin prick. And to come and realize that these are high school students. Students that have so much dark in them yet, they can still see light when the darkness explodes. It’s really a gift to her writing and creative word building that allows readers to stay enthralled and become insomniacs. Even though the next story is Deke’s, we all know that we will still get the entire crew that remains along with some surprises.
5 STARS
I was so excited for this next installment and continuation of Austin and Cole’s story, but I do feel it was a bit anticlimactic. This story filled in some of the blanks between the end of the first book and the epilogue within the first book. While I was happy that this book was provided as to fill in the blanks and give more context about the group, I was expecting a continuation of the story from the end of the epilogue. I did enjoy that the story was told by multiple points of view – Cole, Deke, and Bennett, where we previously only had Cole’s POV. The cliffhanger on this story makes me way more excited for the next set of books for both Deke and Bennett because of the multiple secrets the two still have that we find out both within the story as well as the two epilogues at the end. Overall, this is a great stepping stone book within the series that both answers questions but also provides more that I can’t wait to get answered as this series continues.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
