HATE/LOVE
Athene Hartville has hated Oliver Paviland, Viscount Rushbourne, for his hurtful actions when they were children. All she seeks is revenge. What she doesn’t realize that all he ever wanted was her attention. Now at a country house party, he plans to court her, but she’s a cold lady not receptive to his overtures. Oliver won’t give up and a kiss changes everything. Happiness is theirs, until blackmail spoils it all. Short, steamy and with an absolute jewel for a hero.
This was an entertaining read. Isn’t it strange how events from the past are viewed differently by people. This was the case for Athene Hartville and Oliver Paviland, Viscount Rushbourne. She perceived his past behaviour as bullying whereas Oliver just wanted her attention. Athene was virtually penniless and was looking for a husband at the house party. Oliver was there with his younger brother, Harry. Harry was spoilt by his parents and out for revenge against his brother. He intended to feed on Athene’s memories and use her as well. Things didn’t work out as planned but even though Athene came to view Oliver differently, Harry was not finished! This was a very enjoyable read and I do love it when the villain gets his comeuppance!
I LOVE TO HATE YOU by Elizabeth Keysian is the First book in the Marry in Haste Series. This is the story of Oliver Paviland, Viscount Rushbourne and Athene Hartville.
Athene and Oliver where once Frenemies…Athene saw him as a bully of sorts where Oliver felt they were more toward friends. Now in their present day Athene and her chaperon are attending the Duke of Burlington’s Halloween House Party to find Athene a much needed husband due to her poor money status. Oliver is there keeping tabs on his brother Harry who has his own plans to set in motion. Of course sparks and tempers fly between Oliver and Athene. Oliver ends up needing Athene for more than just his feelings but can these two work toward their past and present?
I found this book to be a page turner for me. It had everything I look for when reading a romance. Of course Ms. Keysian never disappoints me with her writing…love it.
I was hooked from the first page of this delightful read. The characters got under my skin and into my heart from the beginning. A swoon worthy hero, a strong willed heroine and wonderful secondary characters made this a hard to put down page turner. It involves revenge, jealousy, misjudged feelings and, that wondrous thing called love. This was my first book by Ms. Keysian but won’t be my last. I’m waiting on the second book in this series. I highly recommend this book and gladly give it five stars.
This book is a page-turner. I was hooked right from the very beginning. I’ve read and loved previous workd by this author so I had high hopes when I started this book and I must say it is even better than what I hoped for. It is true that I’m partial to historical fictions and I do love a good enemy-to-lover story, but this book is so much more. I loved the characters. I loved how well-written it is. I loved every single detail about the settings and the situations that these characters are facing. It’s intriguing, romantic, and at times very funny. All is all, I think this story is a work of art, it’s perfection and I’d definitely recommend it if you like historical fiction. In fact, pick it up even if you don’t like historical fiction and this book might just change your mind about the genre. The best thing is that it’s easy to read and ends quite well.
Miss Athene Hartville and her guardian have decided to attend a house party because they desperately need to find an answer to their financial woes. Athene wants a husband and her guardian wants a protector. She didn’t expect to run into two brothers from her childhood.
Oliver Paviland, Viscount Rushbourne has found an old friend but her memories of the past are far different from his own. She has always fascinated him and now she is even more beautiful.
A historical romance that is full of fun and family drama. Spoiled little boys can grow to be absolute terrors.
Good fun.
I Love To Hate You by Elizabeth Keysian is an outstanding historical romance. Ms. Keysian has once again provided readers with a phenomenal story. Well-written, with a stellar cast of characters, you can’t help but love this book. Athene has been orphaned, shipped off to boarding schools and lived with an elderly aunt and now depends on Kat to help her. She must find a husband. Oliver, Viscount Rushbourne, is Olivia’s childhood torment. Athene and Oliver’s story is packed with drama, humor, spice and a questionable chaperone. I enjoyed every page of this book and can’t wait for my next book by Elizabeth Keysian. I Love To Hate You is book 1 of the Marry In Haste Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Duke of Burlington’s Halloween House Party, Suffolk, 1811
Standing in the dark looking out at the moonlight, “Firm hands grasped her waist, and before she could utter a sound, his lips were on hers. Then, as quickly as he had appeared, he was gone, leaving her hot-faced, shaky, and shocked.” Such was the opening of this delightful story that hooked me right from that sentence and I knew this story was going to be great. Most of all the fact that Elizabeth Keysian was the author and I absolutely loved it!
Athene, accompanied by her outrageous chaperone (you will see!), are attending a week long house party of a duke and his guests. She desperately needs to marry because her funds were quickly running out and she felt certain she would find a suitable match. Of course, she never imagined she would run into Oliver, Viscount Rushbourne, her childhood friend, wait, bully, no more like the boy pulverized her confidence that took her a long time to get over. Or was she really over it?
He called her Lady “Heartless” and she could not bear the nickname he had endowed her with when she was ten. “She, Miss Athene Harville, named after the goddess of war, was going to find a way to bring him to his knees.”
All the key elements of an amazing historical romance are pulled together in this tale of revenge, misunderstandings, jealousy, hidden feelings and a sigh worthy hero who won my heart from the start. Athene, tries to resist him but seriously?
There is really a lot to this engaging story that will keep you riveted until the end and I cannot wait to read more in this series!!! Truly adored this book by Elizabeth and hope the next one comes out soon!!
I love to Hate You by Elizabeth Keysian is the first Novella in her new Marry in Haste series. This book was a very fun and enjoyable read. It is well written, and easy to get into. I laughed quite a few times and really felt for the characters too. I completely adored the hero! Oliver was very easy to like, he was extremely forgiving, and an incredibly kind character. Athene the heroine was likeable too, but she was very naive and easily led. Oliver brought out the best and worst in her and it made for a very interesting and enjoyable story. Definitely a story you have to read for yourself! Well worth the read!
