THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLEROne of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Crime Novels of 2016!The next blockbuster thriller for those who loved The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl…“a finely crafted novel with a killer twist.”(#1 New York Times bestselling author Paula Hawkins) On a rainy afternoon, a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street… I … a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street…
I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.
At the same time, the novel tracks the pair of Bristol police investigators trying to get to the bottom of this hit-and-run. As they chase down one hopeless lead after another, they find themselves as drawn to each other as they are to the frustrating, twist-filled case before them. Elizabeth Haynes, author of Into the Darkest Corner, says, “I read I Let You Go in two sittings; it made me cry (at least twice), made me gasp out loud (once), and above all made me wish I’d written it…a stellar achievement.”

A good psychological suspense tosses in unexpected twists and turns, and I Let You Go has them! This book is well constructed, has a great writing style, and is gripping from the very beginning. The story begins with a tragic and heartbreaking incident that is a mother’s most unforgettable nightmare. Then there’s a confession which brings another dark, secretive nightmare into focus, and an eventual explanation for the connection with the tragedy. This story kept me riveted but the ending was somewhat disappointing because it seemed unfinished.
Kept me guessing until the end!
Excellent though violent in parts.
Finely crafted mystery, police procedural, and heart wrenching drama! You will never get it until the author wants you to!

My least favorite of her books. Extremely slow moving…
I loved this book. A domestic thriller with a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. Of course, like all thrillers, there is that moment you think WHY? But then you realize the book would have ended and it wouldn’t have been as exciting. I would recommend this book.
Very gripping
Well-written book with lots of surprises and twists.
This story takes place after a horrible car accident. Jenna Gray ends up in a small Welsh town trying to escape the memory of the accident, and the loss of her child. She meets a few nice people but doesn’t ever reveal her past to them. She wakes in nightmares of the accident and can’t seem to fully escape. She starts to heal by walking along the beach and taking pictures of words she draws in the sand.
The other part of the story revolves around the Bristol police officers who were on the case of the car accident. They have been searching for a year for the driver who fled the scene of the accident, but the case has gone cold. One officer cannot let it go and continues to search for leads to mkght bring the town some peace.
This was a pretty good book. After reading quite a few duds in a row, I was relieved for finally read a book that I wanted to stay up late to finish. There are quite a few surprises in this book that you don’t see coming and I think the story is well written. (well – the author uses the word fortnight a few too many times, but I digress).
The plot twist is worth this book. It takes a while to get there, but I think that is what makes it so good. You are SURE you know where the story is going until…..it turns completely around. I was so intrigued and surprised, and I finished the book in 2 days just because I had to see what the end was going to be.
I encourage you to read this one. It is a mystery, thriller and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book although I had forgotten some key information that was presented at the beginning. A young boy is killed in a hit and run accident from which the driver flees. Jenna Gray retreats to the Welsh coast to escape memories of the accident and flee from her abusive husband. Meanwhile a pair of police detectives are trying to solve the hit and run accident. The suspense built as I tried to figure out how the characters would connect, and when they did–well, just read it and find out.
I feel this way the same way I did about Gone Girl. Just when I had it all figured out, I got the curve ball. I truly loved the characters – they broke my heart, they spoke to who I am and the people I know. Except, of course, for those who were truly evil. Just a good, solid read that entertained and engaged me. Good stuff. Not necessarily high art, but wildly entertaining.
Interesting twist. Enjoyed character development. It keep me engaged, on edged at times, and still left me wondering at the end.
Fabulous book. Reads like a regular police procedural…until you get to the middle and than wham. Major twist. Loved it!
I enjoyed the writing style, told from all the main characters.
I’m a little on the fence with this book. While I did enjoy a couple of the twists, for the most part this book was very slow in building to the climax. It seemed like more time could’ve been spent on “part 2” and less on the slow, everyday lives of the detectives investigating the accident. I found this book difficult to get into it in the beginning. The 2nd half was significantly better than the first, though. I will recommend this book but it may not be for everyone. Definitely slow in parts
As a mother of boys, this book broke my heart immediately! Then I was on the edge of my seat as the story unfolded and twisted! You won’t see the ending coming in this thriller!
Great read
Actually one of THE best mysteries I have read. I immediately ordered all her other books.
