With his stunning debut novel, She’s Come Undone, Wally Lamb won the adulation of critics and readers with his mesmerizing tale of one woman’s painful yet triumphant journey of self-discovery. Now, this brilliantly talented writer returns with I Know This Much Is True, a heartbreaking and poignant multigenerational saga of the reproductive bonds of destruction and the powerful force of … powerful force of forgiveness. A masterpiece that breathtakingly tells a story of alienation and connection, power and abuse, devastation and renewal—this novel is a contemporary retelling of an ancient Hindu myth. A proud king must confront his demons to achieve salvation. Change yourself, the myth instructs, and you will inhabit a renovated world.

Great read. Love this author.
Lamb makes you feel and he also makes you think. Not an easy story but one that is poignant and life affirming. Looking forward to reading more of his stuff.
What a rollercoaster! Laughing, crying, and quite a few times thinking “WTF???!!!” This book is a book within a book. This is the first Wally Lamb book I read and I’m a total fan. It’s not an easy read and it’s an emotionally heavy read. But sooo good.
this is one of those books that has the potential to shift your perspective and tilt your world…
One of my favorite books ever. Wally Lamb tells so many stories at one time. I read the long book in one weekend.
Enjoyable reading, funny, sad and always relatable.
This is to my way of thinking a book that provokes thought about the inner working of the mind and relationships.
Fantastic! I couldn’t wait to keep reading to the very end. Beautiful dialog, especially with the psychiatrist. Believable characters. I have recommended this book to all my reading friends.
A totally relatable story about what happens when mental illness strikes a family. Add in the all the misery caused by archaic notions about women, sex, and what roles we play we play in life. It was very sad on so many levels but it was a good reminder to be compassionate.
At over 800 pages I wondered what I had gotten myself into, but when I wasn’t reading it could not stop thinking about the characters. What was going to happen to them? Most are not very likeable but this made them human. Every page is worthy of your time. Loved this story. Please read it.
In my humble opinion, Wally Lamb’s ” I know this much is true” is one of the top 25 books that I have ever enjoyed. Herein there is a truth the likes not many see. It spoke to me on a profound level. It was not an easy read because I found myself stopping often to consider and absorb what I had just read. Sometimes halting because of a nerve …
Best book I ever read. What a story!!!!
Unbelievably wonderful book!
I thought this book was very interesting
Beautifully written.
My introduction to the work of Wally Lamb. This, yet another of those books that remains in my mind MANY years after I read it. I still quote from it. I still have the pictures in my mind that I conjured up as I read it. It’s a marvelous book. I’ve read other works by Lamb and enjoyed them but, unfortunately, others at the dance never quite …
I could not finish this book which is rare for me. Much too long and drawn out. The plot never went any where and was very repetitive. I found myself wanting to skip pages/chapters to get them over with. Story was sad and depressing.
Took me forever to ‘get into this book.” So much description to everything becomes cumbersome.
A beautiful story of family, struggle, loss and forgiveness. It will stay with you long after you’ve finished it.
I have read this book three times. Loved it. Very rich in detail and story. I like Wally Lamb’s epic books.
