M.A. Comley, an author of exciting crime thrillers, has tried a new genre of psychological suspense and it’s a stunner. Lucy has escaped a violent and abusive relationship and spent five years struggling to start a new life. Only her best friend Trisha knows about her secret past. Can Lucy dare to try to find love and happiness again? When she meets rich and handsome Matthew, she drops her defenses and finds herself finally falling in love – but trouble finds her again. She feels followed, and people close to her are murdered. She’s left terrified and not knowing who to trust.
This book is unputdownable. I read it in one sitting, and never guessed the twisted mind who was the murderer. This roller coaster ride will take your breath away and I can’t recommend it enough. Five stars!
I Know the Truth is a different kind of book from M A Comley, but it has all the thrills and twists of her crime novels.
Lucy has suffered a past full of violence, and is living under a new alias. When Matthew comes into her life, with his wealthy family who don’t think much of her close behind, she doesn’t know if she can bring herself to trust another man.
Then people close to her are found murdered and someone tries to drive her off the road, and she has to wonder if there’s more going on than just someone trying to intimidate her.
I felt so sorry for poor Lucy and everything she had been through. I had no idea who was behind all the sinister goings-ons, and I was kept guessing until the very end. I Know the Truth is another excellent page turner from M A Comely!
I love a psychological thriller and this one was fab. So much action and fear!
From the start, we know that Lucy is running from something but that something really developed as I seamlessly flew through the story. I thought Lucy’s character was brilliantly written.
This is a fast read, it took me a couple of days – that is all. It kept me gripped like Velcro to the pages. I loved the eeriness of the stalker and the sense of foreboding and danger that seemed to lurk around every corner. Matt and his family provided an extra layer of sinister. I had no idea what to think of them.
I really enjoyed the chapters between Trisha and Lucy. They made me feel as thought I was in the room with them, part of their friendship group. They were down-to-Earth characters that a person could easily relate too.
All in all, a super fast-paced psychological thriller that was packed with tons of action too. Brilliantly written relationships and an air of fear and creepiness. Loved it!
I Know the Truth by MA Comley
Lucy has kept her head down, worked hard, relied on her friend Trish and is out for an evening of fun when she meets the first man in five years that she is attracted to. She wonders if she should take a chance on him or remain solitary. Well, one thing leads to another and the two eventually hit it off only to have strange things begin to happen that really throw Lucy for a loop. Her past might be coming back to haunt her but then again…perhaps something or someone in her present is creating the problems for her and her friends that are so very strange and often scary. As each new tidbit about Lucy’s past is revealed the situation becomes clearer but the losses are also mounting until…well…you really should read this book…it is a humdinger!
What I liked:
* Lucy: strong enough to eventually do what needed to be done, a good friend with a big and loving heart, suffered much
* Trish: I true friend to Lucy, there for her throughout, deserves her own HEA in the future
* Matthew: almost a prince charming but also grounded and there for Lucy
* The way Lucy’s backstory came out throughout the book
* The relationship as it grew between Lucy and Matthew
* The friendship between Trish and Lucy
* The strength of Lucy and Trish
What I did not like:
* The man in Lucy’s past that harmed her so deeply
* Being reminded that truly evil people exist in the world and often get away with…abuse and even murder
* The way Matthew’s brother and mother acted…on more than one occasion
* Wondering what would happen next…for the characters in the story that were part of Lucy’s life and support network
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to BOTBS and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Lucy, for the last 5 years, has been in hiding … changed her name, changed her appearance. She survived years of physical abuse by her husband.. to the point of almost daily beatings and ultimately losing the baby she was carrying. The night he put a gun to her head is when she decided to run.
She’s kept under the radar … but then she meets Matthew. She thinks he’s almost too good to be true. Deciding to take a chance, she falls fast. However, his mother and sister have reservations … and they’re especially not overjoyed when Lucy and Matthew announce their marriage plans.
But then.. things begin to happen. Someone tries to run her off the road. Her boss is murdered. Her best friend is assaulted. Maybe it’s time that Lucy tells Matthew about her past .. because someone either wants the truth revealed … or annihilating everyone around her.
Well written, this is full of suspense starting from the very first page. It’s a love story … until it isn’t. We all want to meet that wonderful man … rich, handsome, loving, gentle. Secrets can destroy a relationship … if you survive. Deftly drawn characters keep the reader riveted to the story until the very unexpected ending.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
This had the hair on the back of my neck standing on end as I raced through this psychological thriller. The way this author presents a twisted mind is uncanny. Delightfully devious details of the warped mind made me wonder how she had the insight and what monsters have visited her nightmares.
An exciting new book from this talented author. A new way of writing which left my mind reeling at every page.
Lucy has had a life full of misery whilst married to her abusive husband. She somehow manages to have a hand in his timely death , escaping his clutches & starting a new life under another name.
Her best friend Trisha is the only one that knows about her past and together they keep the secret close.
Fast forward 5 years and she meets another man who she falls for and eventually they set a wedding date. But life for Lucy starts to unravel and appears to be spiraling downwards as her past finally catches up with
her.
Everything is in this book from murders, to car accidents to a stroppy , interfering mother in law.
Read this book and prepare yourself for an all nighter, it really is that brilliant !!
