3.5 Never Have I Ever Stars. This is the first book by Camilla Isley that I’ve read and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her characters are easy to relate to and the storyline flowed throughout the book. Her writing style is witty, upbeat, and fast-paced.
To say that Blair is having a rough day is a supreme understatement. She’s just been informed that the job/promotion she’s devoted the last couple of years of her life to have gone to someone whose family paid for the promotion for their daughter. Then, to add insult to injury, her boyfriend of three years takes her out to dinner, where she assumes he’s about to propose, only to dump her for his secretary. It’s so cliché! Blair has always been the good girl with a list of “ToDo’s” a mile long so she doesn’t get off track. A fat lot of good that’s done her. She’s dumping the list and doing the exact opposite. Enter Richard and a job offer she can, but decides not to, refuse….
This is a fast-paced, oftentimes funny story, that will keep you entertained.
Fun, Funny book. Predictable of course, but what a great journey. Likable characters and actually laugh out loud moments
Loved this book. Easy read, and great transformation of the heroine.
Blair Walker has a list of things her mother told her women never do. She carries this list in it’s own special pocket in her purse everyday as a reminder. In a series of unfortunate events, Blair finds herself jobless and single. Feeling angry and sorry for herself, she decides that since following the list didn’t better her life, maybe it’s time to do the opposite. In a journey to mark off every single item on the list by doing it’s opposite action, Blair finds herself with a job in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan, and a boss she’s falling for, but who’s emotionally unavailable. Navigating a new job and unrequited love aimed at your boss isn’t easy.
This is the first Camilla Isley book that I’ve read. I have to say that I really liked it. The book was funny and sweet, almost reminiscent of a Hallmark movie, but in the best way possible. I absolutely loved Blair and her decision to hold her head high no matter how much she wanted to be swallowed up by the floor in some situations. My heart broke for her when Richard wouldn’t reciprocate her feelings. Overall, I thought this was a great book, I definitely plan on reading the rest of the series.
I’ve read I Have Never in one sitting,it’s the perfect story for a lazy Sunday.
Camilla Isley did it again, she quickly became one of my favorite chick lits authors.I enjoy her writing, the effortless flow of her words, the interesting plot and the lovely characters.
I loved our heroine,Blair, she could appear as a “princess” but she is also strong enough to take her life in her hands and try to be happy even if this means to go against everything she has ever thought.
Short review. What happens when playing by the rules leads to the worst day of your life? That’s the question that our main character Blair Walker asks herself as the day that she thought would be the best day of her life turns into the worst, starting with her being fired then being dumped by her cheating boyfriend. Blair journey beings when she decides she is done playing by the rules of “Never list”and starts going against the list, this sets Blair down a road to self discovery, standing up for herself, and finding real love. Blair journey is not only interesting but hilarious and enjoyable to read. I can’t wait for the next book in the ‘First Comes Love’ series.
I have received this book for a honest review.
