I absolutely loved this book!! I just loved Blaze and Charm, their chemistry, their self struggles, everything was just perfect for me!
Charm – First of all let’s thank the lord that she wasn’t a virgin heroin!
Then let’s thank the lord that she wasn’t pinning after the hot footballer!!! She resisted him and made him do most of the work!
Then let’s thank the lord for the final time because charm wasn’t into relationships, she only did hooks ups and has two rules she follows!
1) No kissing on the lips
2) No staying over
She has her reasons for keeping her guard up and strictly following these rules! (it made me cry towards the end when she was having a conversation about it with her mama )
She followed these rules even with Blaze even though she had hoped that maybe someone like Blaze might actually want to keep her. But he dumped her…….
Blaze – I wanted to bubble wrap him and protect him from the world. God this man, this amazing man thought no one would want to stay in his life for good thanks to his fucked up parents! Blaze had serious abandonment issues which is why he dumped Charm because she was beginning to become a distraction and the only thing he wanted to focus on was football and didn’t want to entertain someone who he thought would eventually leave him too.
Also after he dumped Charm, she had left him a note written on a chewing gum wrapper and he carried it with him everywhere and when it was revealed what was written on it I wanted to cry! at the same time punch Blaze for pushing her away the first time even after reading the damn thing!
There was a lot of push and pull between them! Like a lot!
They both had their own issues so when one of them was ready to try out the relationship the other one would back off/close down.
I loved how Blaze taunted Charm about the kissing issue, because it was so refreshing for me! That it’s the girl who has some boundaries for once you know?
”I’ll go first. Mine is lying side by side, looking in her eyes while I fuck her real slow. Her leg is hitched around my hip and my hands are on her ass, doing all the work. She’s saying my name. And when I kiss her ON HER MOUTH, she comes, her pussy squeezing my dick until I can’t resist and come with her.”
And when she finally kissed him……….
Blaze and Charisma…the couple with a love/hate relationship that is so much more!
For Blaze Townsend football is everything. It’s his ticket out…the chance to prove to himself and everyone that’s he’s somebody. He carries deep emotional scars left from his neglectful drug addicted parents who abandoned him. Blaze has never known real love or being wanted. Charm is the first girl he’s ever wanted more than football.
Charisma Rossi is smart, sassy, and a little bad. She has a set of rules she follows to protect her heart. Rules she has because of her father’s cheating ways. Blaze is the first guy to make her want to throw out all her rules and take a chance on love.
Their tumultuous relationship has so much emotional depth and vulnerability to it. Both are battling insecurities and stubborness that doesn’t make falling in love easy.
These two are so different and yet the same. You will find yourself rooting for them to have their HEA!
This book has steam, angst, and plenty of swoony moments to keep you hooked from beginning to end.
I loved every moment of Blaze and Charm’s story!
What can I say…Blaze is everything I never knew I wanted!!
I will tell you this first: I am an Ilsa Madden-Mills groupie.
I buy her books when they come up for preorder. I do not need to read the “About this Book” section. I know I will enjoy it. I did think, “Not another football book,” when I saw the cover but the other two in the series did not disappoint so why should this one? I ordered it. Ilsa had me from the first few pages. I was hooked again.
Of course, this one was much more than football! This is a second-chance-at-love story. The story is about Blaze and Charisma who combusted in front of packed audience. Blaze broke up with Charm in the middle of the dance floor at her Halloween party. I mean how humiliating can that be?
Three months later they end up in the same class! Beside each other no less. The love/hate banter between these two just draws you in. Instead of rooting for the attractive, nerdy heroine, I found myself falling for embarrassingly awkward-with-feelings hero, Blaze. Along the way to finding their happiness with each other, they had to come to terms with the difficulties and hardships they endured themselves.
The last chapter is just the best! Their romance withstood challenges and time. Ilsa Madden-Mills can really write a book! Football or not!
Five perfect stars for Charisma and Blaze !!!
This book is the first book I’ve read by Ilsa Madden-Mills and I really enjoyed reading it.
“I Hate You” is sports college romance (the trope I love so much) and enemies to lovers trope.
I loved Charisma because she reminded me of myself. She is smart and knows what she wants. But, she also knows what she doesn’t want and that is love. Love can make your life beautiful but it also can break you and she doesn’t want to feel that pain.
From the other side is Blaze is only focused on football and that is his only true love but after he finds out Charisma, everything has changed.
If you’re like me and you love, really love reading sports college romance this book is perfect for you !!!
Highly recommended!!!
Blaze and Charisma have a brief, but hot relationship. He publicly breaks it off with her telling Charm she isn’t his type. This sends Charm into a spiral of insecurity. After three months of no contact they see each other at the celebration for the football championship. Seeing Charm brings up all Blaze’s memories and how much he wanted her. After several chance encounters, including having a class together, they given to their mutual attraction. The road to their relationship is filled with self-doubt, insecurities, career ambitions, cleat chasers, and finding a way to fit into each other’s worlds. They both are pushing and pulling at each other. As they spend more time together and learn more about each other‘s lives and lasts they realize they have more in common than they thought. Charm is a spunky, full figured, speaking her mind type a girl. And, Blaze is the football god, alpha, make you weak in the knees guy. This book is full of laughs, dirty talk, make you tear up moments with lots of heat and a sweet HEA.
Blaze:
My feelings for you…are beyond anything else. I’m not that man. I want a happy ending, Charm. That’s who I am. I’m the guy in Say Anything who begs the girl to take a chance. I’m here. I’m right here, and I don’t care about anything but you, even football, because if I don’t have you, I’m going to dig a hole so deep I’ll never crawl out of it.”
Blaze and Charisma. What a couple. The push and pull was so angsty. I live.
“You were fire in my hands…”
This is my second book by Ilsa Madden-Mills, and I couldn´t be more excited to keep reading everything she has to write!!
First of all, the writing is so easy and fast, I read this one in a day, so can much figure out how good and well written it is. I love a story that´s nothing that I´ve read before, they had a past and somehow Ilsa make me fall in love with both characters!!
Charisma is the good girl that always speaks her mind, so what you see is what you get; I have no clue on how Ilsa made feEl that Char was totally a genuine character. And that’s what we get along the book, truly great characters.
Blaze is the most popular guy on campus, he could have any girl he wanted; but he only wants one, Charisma; and he knows he made a mistake but it was a mistake that on the long road it would protect him from her.
After three months apart, the come across in a frat party, and all the emotions that they both hide in the past are crashing down on them and there´s no way either one can stop it.
This one was a fresh reading, I really needed it and I hope you waste no time and start with this one ASAP!
I loved this book. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster. There was angst but also plenty of funny moments also. I could not put it down because I had to know what was going to happen next. I loved the duel POV and you end up being drawn in emotionally. And the chemistry between Blaze and Charisma was off the charts. I absolutely love Ilsa-Madden Millers books. And this one did not disappoint.
The thing about Ilsa Madden-Mills’ books is that you can always expect a story that’s well written, emotional, and just plain fun to read! I go through dozens of books every month, and it’s always a relief to end up with one of Madden-Mills’ books! This one did not let me down. Charisma and Blaze hate each other; Charisma because Blaze randomly dumped her and Blaze because he luuuurrves her. Does Blaze have what it takes to show Charisma that he’s not the kind of guy she thinks he is? Their banter is fun, their feelings for each other are swoonworthy, and ultimately good things happen. Go read this!
Another great college football romance by Ilsa Madden-Mills! I cannot get enough of her books. This book is an enemies-to-lovers second chance romance with Blaze, the football player and Charisma, the nerdy feisty girl, that was dumped by Blaze in front of everyone at one of her own sorority parties!
This is a fun, entertaining, and heartwarming second chance romance. I didn’t get the enemies-to-lovers vibe. This is about two people not knowing what they truly wanted until they lost it, then when they decided to take the leap and give their relationship an honest try they both find something they needed. This story is sweet and endearing journey to go on with Blaze and Charisma. I adored every single second of this book.
Fire in my hands
4.5 stars
Oh my gosh Blaze … I love him !!
He’s just so scared and lovable and I feel like I’ve been on a roller coaster ride with him and charm .
This book is beautifully written ! It’s a semi slow burn but with plenty of heat, partly enemies to lovers, friends to lovers kinda style, with plenty of angst and heart break and heart healing – both blaze and charm fighting their fears that keep them apart.
Blaze is a football player with high hopes to make it big but he’s not top of the ranks so he has to fight for it . With no family to lean on and no one he fully trusts he knows he has to keep his mind focused .
Charm is charismatic , witty and sassy and so likable . But she holds her own fears of love based on witnessing her dad cheating when she was younger .
Their story is a lot of push and pull until they finally get their hearts in line . I loved it !!!!
This book is the third companion novel in the series , but could easily be read as a stand alone . The main appeal of reading the other books first is having some background knowledge of some of the characters but also charm and blaze . All of them are great reads though so I say definitely read them all !
I have a huge amount of love for this book omg.
I can’t even begin to describe how much I loved this beauty!
Blaze and Charisma are two absolutely amazing characters, I was sucked into their world and their story until the very last page. Even now, I’m still thinking about them and wanting more.
Charisma doesn’t consider herself like most girls but she’s so much more. She’s beautiful and curvy and has a heart of gold, a heart she keeps walls around to keep protected. Having being burned by guys in the past she has set rules and is determined she’ll never break them but that, that was before blaze came barrelling in.
Blaze doesn’t believe he fits in. Coming from a rough background and a rough life he’s constantly feeling like whatever he does is never enough. He’s stuck in his own head and no matter what, he can’t get out of it. Things soon take a turn when he meets the one and only Charisma, he has no idea what’s about to hit him.
Watching these two from the beginning had been entertaining. The hate, the passion, everything between them is intense and it’s fantastic!
I’ve been a fan of Ilsa Madden-Mills’ books for a while now and every time I see I new release I just know I have to get on it and read it. They always, always seem to get better and better and every time I think I can’t love a character more than her last ones, she’s writes a new book and makes me fall so hard for the new ones and that’s exactly what I Hate You did. It had me falling so hard and fast for these two, I love them, I adore them and I just want more.
I Hate You is about love and forgiveness, second chances and heartbreak. It’s beautiful and devastating wrapped into one beautiful story.
This book was amazing! Blaze and Charisma have stolen my heart. I loved everything about this story. The angst and heat were perfect. I couldn’t quit reading. I found myself racing through the pages as fast as I could to see how it would end. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!
Oh, boy…..I loved this book. Let me tell you, every book I read from Ilsa, I think, oh, this is my favorite! However, I Hate you, is now my new favorite.
Charm is every girl who has fallen, doesn’t want to admit it, and is scared what she’s feeling. I could see myself in her so much, it was unreal. She’s such a relatable character.
Blaze is the guy we all want to love, but just know he’s out of our league. He’s the hot football player that offers a good time.
These two have some serious chemistry.
How in the world does Ilsa do it every time for me?! If you are searching for a real true to life, this is how it happens, then I hate you is the book for you.
Blaze and Charisma were hot for each other, broke up for unknown reasons, but were still hot for another. Blaze never dates anyone, let alone fall for a girl and he breaks up with Charm at her Sorority party in from of all her sisters. She feels foolish and doesn’t want to face him once classes start up again. But when they get back to school, they can’t seem to avoid one another and the pull is strong between them. They want to hate each other but love has other plans. There’s a misunderstanding, but the two of them find their way to one another.
I love this author and this book!
I love a good enemies to lovers story, and this one did not disappoint. So much angst, so many feels. My heart hurt so many times for Charm, I could completely relate to all her insecurities, and issues surrounding her parents marriage. And Blaze, overcoming his childhood and feeling like enough is something that I could also relate to. This book had such a great push and pull of emotions. While there are plenty of feelings there are also a lot of laughs, Vampire Bill was hilarious as always. A great addition to the series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the 3 books in this world that Ilsa Madden-Mills has created and I think that I Hate You might be tied with I Dare You for my favorite of the group. I just finished the book this morning and LOVED IT!!! Their story was more emotional and angsty than I was expecting, but it is perfectly balanced with doses of humor and off the charts steaminess. There were moments when both or either character got on my ever loving nerves for their lack of communication, but the excellent pacing of the story helped me to get over my irritation. I loved the cameos from Ryker and Penelope and I can not wait to get more stories from the Waylon University football team and the women they fall for (I’m hoping we get Dillon’s story next)! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers book. Charisma and Blaze are such a great couple that complement each other. I love how they acknowledged their own faults and worked on improving themselves to be with the one they love.
