I absolutely FLOVED this one! An angsty enemies to lovers storyline that hooks you from the beginning until the end! The chemistry between Blaze and Charisma is scorching hot! Both broken down, struggle with their past and their pull toward each other. Another fantastic read In this series! I highly recommend this book!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)…
What can I say about Blaze and Charisma? First off, I love their names.
This book starts off after Blaze has ruined their “relationship,” and I will say what he did what a buttmole move. I really enjoyed this book and I loved Blaze and Charisma; especially the way they handle each other. However, the push and pull aspect did get a bit annoying at times, especially with Blaze, the man could get on my nerves. Blaze will pull Charisma in then boom push her away then get all hurt when she wouldn’t let him pull her back in. Now don’t let that fool you, Charisma was not weak willed woman and she didn’t let Blaze get away with much.
Even with all that, I still loved this book, but there was a certain issue that I felt was handled a bit oddly in my opinion. The problem had to do with Charisma and her parents, but since I don’t want to ruin anything I won’t elaborate, but I will say I felt that Charisma’s mother gave a horrible excuse about the situation and felt like it was a major cop out; I totally understood why Charisma had relationship and trust issues.
I can’t wait for the next book, perhaps Dillon 😉
***Recieved an ARC for an honest Review****
I loved this book. I’ve loved this whole series, but I have to say I think this one is my favorite.
Blaze and Charisma are both broken and each have their own mountain of issue, but despite that….. they fit and can’t deny the pull to each other.
Their journey comes with plenty of road bumps, but they find their way.

I Hate You is my absolute favorite book by this author! I’ve read this book twice already! Blaze and Charisma are one of my favorite couples of the year.
The chemistry between these two is out of control. Both have been hurt in the past before, and find it hard to trust the other not to hurt them. No matter how hard these two try and fight it, they just can’t let the other go.
Their love for each other is there though. Even if they don’t see it. Blaze touched my heart so much. I wanted to wrap him in my arms and tell him how loved he is. This book will give you all the feels! The easy laughs and heartfelt words between these two will melt your heart.
Ilsa Madden-Mills has written a beautiful story of love between two hurt souls that don’t believe they are truly worthy of it. A 5 star must read that soared to my top 5 read of the year!!
Charisma is a college student who has fallen for the sexy football player, even if she’s not ready to admit it. She claims she just wants a good time but Blaze is different. Blaze’s life hasn’t bee easy. All he wants to do is play football then he meets Charisma. Can they both get what they want? Will either act ok obvious attraction?
No three words meaning could be uttered and be misused, misconstrued and mistrusted like Ilsa Madden-Mill’s “I hate you!” A writer with a catalog of quality work I Hate You stands out as an exceptional story.
In an area where many writers fall short Ms. Madden-Mills created two characters full of depth that were equally appealing. This work said so much even as it’s main characters struggled with expressing their true feelings and dealing with the pain of recognizing their self worth. There was a lot to love about Blaze yet it was the people who latched onto him for superficial motivations that he gravitated to insuring that no one got too close to him and his heart was kept intact. Charisma used her wit and defiance as a shield to combat her own insecurities hiding the genuine person she was and her true desires. Immediately drawn to each other this couple instead focused on all the arguments not to be attracted to each other digging in for a battle that was lost from the start. With an uncanny ability to see past the happy faces they showed the world and observe the emotional wounds they each carried and that had never healed they stood at the edge of obtaining the real joy in life they had each purposely evaded. It was clear from the start of this book that the hero and heroine despite expressing “I Hate You” did anything but that for some great romance and intense steam!
Incredibly funny exchanges balanced poignant eye watering moments adding a richness to this author’s portrayals and the story as a whole. Great timing of events moved this work so it never lost its momentum. The writer handled the angst of this story with lots of insight making it tangible to her audience throughout the work. One of my favorite reads for 2019 author Ilsa Madden-Mills took a chance and made dreams come true in I Hate You!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While part of the Waylon University series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
Blaze and Charm light up the field in this adorable enemies-to-lovers novel!
I Hate You will make you smile, make you blush, and make you want to read it over and over again. Charisma was mortified when the hunky wide-receiver dumped her at a party, but can’t help being attracted to the idiot. Blaze may have been only trying to protect his heart from the spunky and smart Charisma, but he’s got too much at stake to worry about anyone else. I love sports romance, and I especially adore enemies-to-lovers, so much spark and chemistry, and I Hate You clicks both of those boxes. These two may say that they hate each other, but the underlying tension makes you sit on the edge of your seat while reading. I love the banter, I love the chemistry, and I love the characters, you can’t go wrong with this one! I love Ilsa Madden-Mills writing, and I Hate You is one of her best!
Every single book I read by Ilsa Madden-Mills drives me deeper in love with this woman’s words!
This whole series has been fantastic for me. It’s rare that I find college aged series to engage me like this one has. Yes, over the years I have somehow come to read more and more new adult romances and maybe that’s why my tolerance level for their shenanigan decision making has increased, but I think it’s more like authors, like Ilsa, have perfected this genre.
This story had just the right amount of heat and passion combined with deep emotion. It wasn’t just the story of Blaze and Charisma finding a path to HEA, it was a journey of self-growth and self-wroth for both. These two captured my heart from word one and just never let go. I was a blubbering mess of emotions thru a lot of this journey and it was worth it! Blaze tested my patients for sure, but his history just broke me and Charisma …. yeah, she’s a strong character you will root for till the very end. They both were.
Another amazing story by Ilsa! I cannot wait for more!
Sports Romance + Rom Com = Dive into this book now!
I love it when the hero play sports – even though I don’t even watch sports anymore! Idk what it is! They’re muscular and sexy and you just want to root for them! Just like I root for this couple in I Hate You! You’re going to love it!
I Hate You is LIVE! WSJ bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new, enemies-to-lovers second chance romance between the football hottie and the feisty nerd girl he can’t forget.
I have enjoyed Ilsa Madden-Mills’ sassy and compelling stories since she began writing and I Hate You was no different. It was an amazing sports romance filled with spitfire banter and hot and steamy sexy times that she is known for. Blaze and Charisma were just delicious and their draw and connection to one another was palpable and felt right off their pages. But while I enjoyed their spirited back and forth exchanges, I couldn’t help but notice that their emotional and painful baggage from their respective pasts were an ongoing obstacle in their tumultuous relationship.
Don’t get me wrong, I swooned and smirked during this story and also loved the emotional depth, intensity and vulnerability that Blaze showed while combatting his insecurities. It was a refreshing role reversal of sorts as we usually don’t see the hero experiencing feelings of abandonment and inadequacy. But I also would be remiss if I didn’t add that the constant back and forth and ping ponging of feelings was somewhat exhausting and very”one step forward, two steps back.” But overall, it was rewarding to see Charisma and Blaze outrun their pasts, finally be seen and find a place in each other’s respective hearts. 4 stars! ~Ratula
Alpha football hottie
Brainy bad girl
A whole lot of enemies to lovers
Second Chance romance
I’m going to go ahead and give Ilsa Madden Mills the title “queen of new adult college sports romance” because for me, nobody does it better than her.
Blaze and Charisma’s story was perfect. The constant push and pull and the intense chemistry had me glued to the pages. I read this book in one sitting. Blaze is everything on Waylon campus. He is sexy, strong, 100% alpha, star football player, popular, and yet inside he’s insecure. Charisma is beautiful, witty, funny and so smart. She is also a bit insecure and doesn’t see why someone like Blaze would want her. Both of their insecurities and issues make for an angsty , bumpy ride to their HEA.
I love that this book was told in alternating POVs and that we get little glimpses of Ryker and Maverick. While Blaze has a little piece of my heart, he didn’t bump Maverick Monroe out of my top IMM book boyfriend spot. If you’re a fan of college sports romance, I highly recommend you read I Hate You.

An enemies-to-lovers second chance romance between the football hottie and the feisty nerd girl he can’t forget. A perfect combination!
4.50 Stars
I loved this book. It definitely had me hooked from the first page
Charisma Rossi is a outspoken feisty girl from the Bronx who is also a nerdy type of girl. She became a feisty/badish type of girl because she had to. She went through a terrible bullying episode in high school and now at college she changed her life around, she wont be that girl anymore.
Three months ago she was dumped by the hottest football player who she had a sort of ‘fling’ with. And she thought they were more than that but clearly she was wrong. Now three months later she is not that feisty girl anymore, and feels like she has transgressed to that girl from high school. But no more she is getting her groove back and prove that she is over him. People were definitely right when they said there is a fine line between love and hate.
Blaze Townsend didn’t have the easiest life. Parents that were good for nothing and now everyone assumes that he wont mount to anything because of who his parents were. But he will do anything to prove anyone back home that he is not his parents and he will be a success. That’s why he had to break up with Charisma, even though he can’t lie that she is hot and funny and she has a fire that he can’t help being attracted to. Three months later he’s figuring out that maybe he made a mistake and that there is more life than football and for once he might want something more than football? So how will he get her to let him in again??
This book was so good, Charisma was my type of heroine. She was smart, feisty and she had so much fire inside of her that you can’t help but be drawn to her. Blaze had so much hurt inside of him due to his parents, that all you want to do is hold him and say that everything is going to be okay you don’t have anything to prove to anyone. Lots of awesome chemistry, hilarious banter and so much more. I loved every minute of this story and i really can’t wait for more…
***5 ‘Fire In My Hands’ Stars***
Oh my heart.
And my head.
I don’t know which one got worked over hard as Blaze and Charisma played one hell of a ping pong game with my emotions and sanity as they stumbled away, around and towards each other, but it was so worth it and I really wish there had been more words to read because I really wanted to see where the future would take them because it promised to be amazing.
Blaze and Charisma. These two drove me batshit crazy throughout most of the book, no lie, but even when I wanted to Gibbs smack them (which happened A LOT) I still adored them. Charisma is sassy and strong and though she does have a strong sense of self, she’s also quite insecure on a level what made it so easy to connect with her. Blaze. My heart hurt for him. There were many times I wanted to Gibbs smack him, but he really is a good, sweet man who does care deeply, even though he hides it very well.
As for their journey to their HEA. I’ll admit that I was totally #TeamCharisma going in, hands down, but my curiosity over what was going on in Blaze’s head kept me from hating on the guy and as things progressed things shifted and it became a 50/50 split on when I was #TeamCharisma or #TeamBlaze. The thing with these two was when they weren’t doing the whole push/pull thing and failing miserably at communicating, they were awesome together. Their bantering was hilarious, the smexy was HAWT and they had this flow, this way of just being together that had me rooting for them to see what was right in front of them. Obviously they had a lot of bumps in their journey, but that one scene where they finally lock each other down? Let’s just say the swoons were real.
This was a great read. Yes, the angst made me all kinds of batshit crazy, but considering all that Blaze and Charisma had to work through, in the end, it was worth it. As for the crazy group of people that surrounded Blaze and Charisma…I loved catching up with Ryker and Penelope and Margo and Connor and the Rossi family is awesome! We do get a glimpse of Mav and Delaney and I’m crossing my toes that Dillion will get his own HEA one day, but Vampire Bill is still the hands down fav!
Note: You don’t NEED to read I Dare You (Mav and Delaney) or I Bet You (Ryker and Penelope) in order to enjoy I Hate You as they are all standalones, but they interconnected ~ especially I Bet You and I Hate You ~ so I highly recommend that you do to fully enjoy the various relationships in the book AND totally feel the love of Vampire Bill 🙂

We were briefly introduced to Blaze & Charm in I BET YOU and I just knew if they got a book it was going to be good.
Blase is a great wide receiver with his sights set on playing in the NFL, the only thing he is worried about is making Combine. He doesn’t have any news stations or radio stations or even online sites talking about him and he knows fans and media have an influence on his future career whether people like to really admit it or not.
And when the girl who makes his world turn upside down, who makes him think that he can have the love and support he never had growing up, the girl who he also broke up with- walks back into his life, he isn’t so sure he wants to say no this time.
Charm is not only your gorgeous sorority girl but she is wicked smart. But she is also the girl everyone knows her now by being the girl who was dumped by Blaze Townsend.
She can tell herself over and over again how she is so over him, and that she hates him with all her might, but yet, he’s still the one who makes her body zing and she can’t help but care for him.
This book is all about second chances in a hate-to love you romance between two people are just as stubborn as each other. It was a really good read overall with a great ending.
OMG!!! Y’all, this book is sooo d*mn good! It’s the final semester of college for Charisma and friends, life’s about to start and they’re getting their ducks in a row. For Charisma though, things are rough. For three weeks she was hooking up with Blaze, the most popular guy in school and a member of the now national champion football team. Except, one night at her sorority’s biggest party of the year, he very publicly dumped her. She’s not as over the break up as she wants to be and now, she’s got to deal with him in one of her classes.
Blaze isn’t over Charisma either. You see, he broke up with her because he didn’t want to get hurt. Blaze has never experienced love, of any kind. He grew up the product of two crackheads who died when he was 10. He was taken in by his aunt and uncle, but they didn’t really care about him either, just barely sure he had the basic necessities. He’s left that tiny hometown behind and is determined to make a name for himself in the NFL.
Both Blaze and Charisma are broken people. Both of them had walled their hearts to love and wasn’t looking for or didn’t need love. Or so they thought. Now both are trying to prepare for their future, but they can’t figure out why a hookup that lasted only three weeks has had such an impact.
Ms. Madden-Mills has an amazing talent for pulling her readers in to her stories. The story arc, the characters, and her writing just blows me away. I absolutely devoured this book and wish I had more of Charisma, Blaze, and even Vampire Bill (who stole my heart).
**I was given an ARC of this story and this is my honest and voluntary review.
So far, out of this series, I Hate You is by far my favorite. The raw emotions throughout this story will gut you but also mend you. Everything that Blaze had gone through to get to where he is, plus how he is so new to these emotions he is feeling, really hit you hard in the heart. Then you have Charm, who has been burned in the past, including the whole mess with Blaze, has her heart so guarded and honestly I could not blame you. But as this story unfolds, these two find a new kinship but also learn the depth of how these hurts go with each of them. I find that these two heal each other in the long run as they navigate what they really mean to each other. Even though they both have fears, they hold each other up.
Overall, I loved the wit and sass of this story. I was on my toes the whole time, giggling and swooning but also feeling the raw emotions that both these two go through. I absolutely adore this series but Blaze has my heart.
‘I give him my own Miss America wave – only it’s really a one-finger salute. It’s a whole new level of juvenile, completely childish and revealing.’ – Charisma
You always remember the person that dumped you, but when that person not only dumps you, but dumps you in front of all of your friends, not only do you remember them, you also hate them. Just ask Charisma Rossi, after all Blaze Townsend dumped her in just that same fashion. Now she wants nothing to do with him, and he wants nothing to do with her. When the two run into each other after Christmas break, and then end up in class together, it’s hard to deny they still have chemistry. Blaze needs to focus on football, he doesn’t have time for a girl, but then why is he trying to show her he could be the guy for her? The more time Blaze and Charisma spend together, the harder it is to ignore there is something between them. With their eyes on graduation, and heading in different directions once college is over, can they actually be together, or are they destined to hate each other forever?
Ilsa is one of my favorites, and one of my go-to authors whenever I get in a book slump. Her books have the right amount of angst, romance, and comedy that I can’t get enough! ‘I Hate You’ had me laughing out loud (thank you Vampire Bill) and on the edge of my seat at other times because I needed to know what was going to happen next, not only for Blaze and Charisma as a couple, but for them as individuals chasing their dreams. The heat rises off of the pages as you read, the chemistry between Blaze and Charisma was out of this world, and I’m pretty sure I caught fire a few times as well! And the sass, oh my land the sass on Charisma, girlfriend is one of my favorites for that reason alone! I absolutely loved every single thing about this book.
