OK. So, you have to read for 20 minutes, but you don’t want to. Maybe your mom or dad or teacher even has a timer—yikes!
If you have to read, but you don’t like … but you don’t like reading, this book is for you! If someone’s bugging you to open a book, grab this one. In this book, you’ll zoom through 20 minutes of reading . . . without really reading!
Did you know that 65% of 4th graders in the US read below grade level? Learning to read can be frustrating. But it can also be fun. I Hate Reading by Beth Bacon validates the experience of reluctant readers and rewards them with laughter.

Perfect for the child who chooses not to read. Funny.
This book was my sons and he hates reading and loved this. I just wish/hoped it would’ve been longer, like a chapter book since it was in the middle grade category
GREAT FOR MY 7 YEAR OLD. SHE LAUGHED AV-ND LAUGHED AND READ THE WHOLE BOOK!!!!!!!
My reluctant reader loves this book. The first time we read it she insisted we read it over and over again!
Grandchildren thought it was great
Fantastic book for reluctant young readers. I loved reading this book, and the very same day I encountered an extremely reluctant first-grader at my public library. His grandmother was desperate to find something he would read. I showed him this book and he absolutely could not wait to get his hands on it. He started reading it even before he left the check-out counter. Such a winner! Really cute book, I know reluctant readers will read this one over and over! How cool is that!
Great book! My Kindergarten students loved it!
My granddaughter, who until recently was a reluctant reader, really enjoyed this book!
Not exactly the way I’d want to motivate my 6 year old grandson. For me I liked it.

I bought this for my grandson.
My kids love this book!
Wasn’t one of my children’s favorite books.
Reminded me of my grandsons.
Fun and funny!
I’m always looking for something I can read to the 3 year old, who already reads a little, and will catch the 6 year olds attention; as he reads on a 3rd grade level. This book did just that. The way it developed took the 6 year old off guard. At the end he even said he thought it was fun and he’s not one to volunteer that kind of expression about a book.
