Her
Blaine didn’t understand the true meaning of lonely until she spent her first Christmas away from her husband. She was never one to believe in love at first sight. Then she met Elliott while he was on leave from the Army. From that moment on, they loved fiercely, and never wasted a day. She knew that deployment was a very real possibility… one that scared her to death.
Him
When the … death.
Him
When the orders are handed down, he has to go, leaving his new wife at home while he risks his life half a world away. Elliott did his best. He loved Blaine with his whole heart, but he had a responsibility to his team and to his country. Regrettably, that meant being away from Blaine Christmas after Christmas, year after year.
Her
Blaine made the best of her situation, and did what any good military wife should do, even if it tore her to pieces to do it. She stood by her man. Years go by, but one thing holds true. They’re meant to be. Blaine and Elliott have a love like no other, and time and distance will never change that.
**This is a novella meant to be read as a companion to the Freebirds series. I recommend you read the Freebirds series before you read this book. **

Although this read like an extended epilogue for all of the characters of the series, I loved the glimpse inside the relationship of Blaine and Elliott. From their first meeting, which was hilarious, to their every hello and goodbye, to their Christmas traditions, it was all too easy to love this couple. They brought me immense joy and sorrow and I had a huge smile on my face by the end. Another great read from LLV.
Blaine and Elliot have been characters that you were just given glimpses of in the previous books. And they are ones that I have wanted to hear their story. A story that I am glad to say was worth the wait. You can tell that they were soulmates from the start and fit together perfectly. Their life was never perfect, but they did what they needed to do to show that the other is the only one in the world for them. They went through things that made my heart hurt for them, and then there are moments that you know have to go right for them. And getting the hear the story of their son’s birth again was something that I enjoyed just as much as I did the first time. This couple is one of those that any reader can tell is the true meaning of a HEA.
So excited to have Elliott and Blaine’s story.
It was so cute.
You have to go read it just to see how these two got together.
An emotionally endearing, sweet, and romantic journey to go on with Blaine and Elliott. This story takes us through the trials and tribulations of a relationship spanning many years. It was cute, emotional, but oh so.. good. I absolutely loved this book. This entire series has been fantastic. I cannot get enough of LLV’s books.
Elliot and Blaine’s story was quick read. I was excited to read their story. They were always in the back ground in previous stories. I enjoyed this read. Their love, loss, happiness and joy was a perfect way to end this series.
This is a great short read about Blaine and Elliott. I was curious about how they met and got together. I loved them in each and every book in this series. I know all about what Blaine was feeling when Christmas was missed, or time away was extended. Been there, done that, still doing it. And they don’t give ya a tshirt for it either. She’s a strong female lead though. Elliott is awesome as well, but let’s be honest, what man of Lani’s isn’t awesome.
Of course the beginning of each chapter made me giggle.
“I asked my friend why she wore floral panties, and she explained it was in memory of all the men who’d been buried there.”
“If I’m still able to walk to the kitchen after sex…You don’t deserve a sandwich.”
I really hated to see this book come. I love Elliott and Blaine but this is the last book from my Free community. After reading this series I had hoped to see some books from the Free kids and Lani did not disappoint. The Simple Man series has Janie and Kayla.
