I fell in love with Holden York when I was six years old. Most of my youth came with spiral notebooks filled with doodles, wedding plans, and “Janelle York” looped in bubbly handwriting. However, one night in Vegas changed everything.I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother’s best friend.Five years later, I’m standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me. If … about the secret he kept from me.
If you think this is the story of how we rode off into the sunset together…
You’re so wrong.
But if you think this is the story of how Holden blackmailed me into living with him…
You couldn’t be more right.

This book is an amazingly emotional ride.
Let me start off by saying how much I loved this book. Now I will try to explain why. Holden and Janelle have been friends since they were kids. Turns out they have been married for a few years too. Now they have to see if they want to work things out or repeat their mistakes. We all know that love is never quite that easy but it is worth it.
Audiobook version:
I was pleased with this story. It had a unique story line, likable characters and pleasant narration. This was what I would call a sweet- brothers best friend- romance. Their relationship is completely unorthodox from the beginning however over time, they find their way. Holden was the token good guy and Janelle the best friend’s younger sister who has some growing up to do.
I had no complaints on narration. Both voices were clear and pleasant. Great job
I Do(n’t) is a sweet and sassy story. Its filled with shenanigans, bad decisions, and heartache. It will make you laugh, rub your thighs together, and your heart swoon. Be prepared to smile, smirk, and grit your teeth. Wanting to shake people and crying are possible side effects.
But the general consensus is I Do need to tell you to read it. I don’t expect you to dislike. I Do imagine that you will be smiling a lot.
So you should…
Audiobook Review:
Love the cover & title very eye catching. The synopsis of this audiobook intrigued me. I love the concept of brother’s best friend little sister romance. Holden York’s character is sweet with a bit of mystery to him tied to his huge secret. He is like a jig saw puzzle trying to figure him out. Janelle’s character voice made me chortle. I love the witty & fun banter between Holden and Janelle. Interlope family melodrama and zany & envious supporting character’s that create a buffoonery & sexy romantic comedy A lighter side entertaining read.
Narrators Lillian Claire and Roberto Scarlato performance was unalloyed with just the right pace and tone. Female narrator’s voiceover of Janelle was sweet and cheerful. Male narator’s voiceover of Holden was relishable.
A light read!
Fifty grand to be his wife for six months…
What could go wrong?
A funny, light-hearted read. Really enjoyable though I did not feel this book as strongly as I thought I would. The heroine at times was just too irritating and I could not deal with her.
Overall, I liked how everything turned out in the end. A good combination of laughter and angst.
Full of marriage, money, blackmail, family, trust, secrets, drama, heat and romance.
Perfect for readers of contemporary romances.
I Do{n’t} by Leddy Harper is definitely a different style for her but I don’t have one complaint. I absolutely loved Holden and Janelle. This story isn’t filled with Leddy’s normal heartache and angst. It’s lighter than anything she has written. It’s sweet. It’s romantic. It made me swoon a lot. It’s a stand-alone read, written in dual point of view which is my favorite. I love getting into both characters heads.
Holden and Janelle will keep you laughing. Their banter was hilarious although sometimes I wanted to bop them both. I felt like I was reading my 2 best friends (whom I have bopped upside their heads) as I turned each page.
I love how Leddy creates a connection between them that even though they fight their chemistry seeps through the pages. She also writes some pretty amazing secondary characters.
This is was definitely a 5 star read for the laughs alone
I loved this book. It was cute and funny and I loved the characters.
A bit too juvenile for me.
Loved the characters and story. A definite must read!
I love to read more books like this book
I DO(N’T) is my 10th book that I have read by Leddy Harper. This is a much lighter story than other books that I have read by this author. It starts off as a Brother’s Best Friend Romance, and five years later picks up as a Second Chance Romance.
Janelle (Jelly) Brewer has had a crush on her brother’s best friend since she was 6 years old. She thought of him as a Batman type hero and she so wanted to be his sidekick. Holden York spent plenty of time at the home of his best friend Matthew. He enjoyed the love of this large family and especially the cooking of the mother. As time moved on, and Holden and Matt went to college, the much younger Jelly found a boyfriend the same age. Too bad he dumped her just before Prom. Leaving her with her first broken heart, and just in time for college graduated Holden to be her hero & prom date.
It was in Vegas at Matt & Christine’s wedding that Jelly and Holden hooked up in one drunken night of passion. She was only 18 and in the morning light, their actions did not seem to be as well thought out, and both ran in different directions.
Janelle went away to college and never looked back. Losing touch with her family and Holden. Five years later, at a Reality Show, she “supposedly” found her soul-mate. And the added bonus of $10.000 winnings. Only there were catches to the TV show money. This is were her past caught up with her very quickly. Janelle had to go home and face her family and most of all Holden.
If I’m to be perfectly honest, I just didn’t care for the character Janelle. When she went off to college on her parent’s money, she didn’t give a rat’s butt about her family and the trials and tribulations that were going on at home. She never bothered to talk to Matt either about the fallout of their night in Vegas. All she seemed to care about was the money from the TV show. I lost my mother at the young age of 50. This girl didn’t realize, what she would miss if something happened to her mother. She couldn’t be bothered to give the time of day to this woman that gave her birth. My own mother never got to meet my three children, my seven grandchildren or my adorable great-grandson. This really bothered me a lot about this character.
This book is the usual well written book I have come to expect from Leddy Harper. I enjoyed the story and pace, but just didn’t enjoy Janelle. I just couldn’t see what Holden saw in her. Please go ahead and read this story, as it just might be me that let her ruin the book. I have lots of personal triggers!
