These characters – wow. Shantel has a way of writing characters that make you shiver in fear and need. Such a dark, twisted look at high school. The perfect facade hiding rotten cores. The GWS are cool, calm and collected. Secrets, hate, betrayal, all the things necessary for an amazing tale. I can’t say more without spoiling it for you. You just have to read it for yourself.
I am in love with this book. The plot is fantastic and the twist and turns are phenomenal. This is such an addicting read and I couldn’t put this one down. I love Shantel’s writing and this is now one of my favorites. I actual love Cole and Austin together.
I DARE YOU TO READ THIS ONE!!!
This book had so many twists and turns I felt like my head was spinning a 360 circle at warp speed.I LOVED IT. Amazing story, twisted characters and great plot.Bring on the next one….
This is my first book from the author and I admit that the cover and blurb caught my attention. I went in blind with only its blurb and assumption that this is a dark read. I wasn’t disappointed. If I could describe this book in a few words, I’d say it was crazy, dark and lots of suspense.
Story wise, it will make your head spin with all the crazies that Cole and his friends GWS (Great White Sharks) not to mention Austin too. You may think since because they are bored with their money and power, that was the reason they do the “dares”. But they have reasons and for them, it was valid.
I would describe Cole and Austin’s relationship as toxic at first. All those push and pull combined with Cole’s *ssh*le-ish behavior to Austin will make you love to hate him and hate to love him at the same time. Austin is no push over and she gives tit for tat. That is why whenever they are together, they are like fuel and fire. It was an explosion, consuming each other and everyone on their path. But it works for both of them. They fit each other’s broken parts, filling that hole that was eating them most of their lives.
I have loved reading it and cannot wait to read the next story in this series.
4 1/2 Stars!
I Dare You is a good read. The characters are is high school but ct much older and at times I forget that they weren’t as old as I thought they were. Austin is a girl, the name threw me off a bit in the beginning when I was getting to know the character. She catches the attention of Cole and his friends. These guys are not very nice, they’re the group of guys yo stay clear off. Austin is a tough girl that doesn’t back down. She goes tit for tat with these guys. Cole and Austin have this love hate relationship going on, which I loved. Cole has his mean side but he also has his soft side. There’s a lot of secrets being kept in this story. I loved this one from beginning to end.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book is dark and gritty and absolutely amazing. These characters are really hard not to fall in love with no matter how messed up they are. Austin has a mom and a dad who are not together and live in different states. Her dad could care less and just sends her mom money which she uses on her boyfriend and drugs and neither really give a crap about her. When she gets to town her curious minds gets the best of her and she sees something that she should never ever see. And this is what leads her into the twisted world of Cole and other guys in the high school. However, theirs is a world that no one would ever want to be in. These guys are the stars of the swim town and basically run the town. None of them have the greatest parents and they are brothers to each other and have a club where they do dares. Now, not by choice Austin is brought into their world. However she is not as naive or stupid as they expect her to be and she gives to Cole just as good as she gets. There are so many twists and turns in this book and I don’t want to give anything away. Just pick is up and read it. You will not be able to put it down.
I legit got a hangover from this book.
Cole…..the boy you love to hate until you just love him……he doesnt even give you a choice, there’s just something about him you find yourself drawn to.
Austin is this badass chick who is Cole’s equal in everyway, tho he underestimates her more than once.
I loved this book!!!
Don’t you love when a friend recommends a book and you spend an entire day devouring it? That’s exactly what I DARE YOU was for me. An ENTIRE day of being caught in the GREAT WHITE SHARKS riptide.
From the beginning, you are thrown into this story and I swear each page brings more gasps, intrigue, heartbreak, dirty deeds, emotional wreckage and OMG moments! But through it all, you fall for the devious mastermind who is the GWS, Cole. But behind the devil himself is a heroine who you are rooting for to triumph, Austin. I have to admit, I fell for Deke too. There was something about him that makes me want his more of his story!!
So I DARE YOU to grab a copy of this book and try to resist being sucked into the GWS world!
5 Sink Your Teeth into stars!
New to me author and new series to binge read.
A new crazy and twisted and complicated read that i absolutely love because of the badass female character and also the powerful GMS team, each one more enigmatic than the others and all the twists and turns that this book has kept my mouth opened till the edgy ending.
There are a lot of questions that need answers and hopefully, we will get them in the next books.
I found this book from a friend’s post, the only word I needed to read was “jerk” and I never thought I would read this mind blowing story, wow, yes I wanted a jerk, I wanted dark, but what I found was way more than what I expected in a very good way. Austin and Cole story with the Great White Sharks is so crazy, I need to read it again soon, but first I am off to the next book. A 5 star!!!
“My demons like the rage. Feed off it. And I’ve never been one to starve.”
I’ve reread this book twice and each time it has been like my first. I’m a sucker for high school enemies to lovers books but I can honestly say this is one of the most unique and original ones out there. There is no one quite like Cole and Austin. Both are badass in their own way.
“I’ll fight you, Cole. I’ll play this game even though I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. But I dare you to smile for me. I dare you to show me something that nobody else sees.”
This is a little dark but it has a great balance to it. Even though I have read it before I couldn’t help but devour it each time. I know how it ends but that didn’t change the fact that my heart was in my throat the whole time especially while reading the epilogue. Highly recommend this book!!!
“We’re like the devil is to sin. Without one, we wouldn’t have the other.”
First off, this is a bully romance book. Whatever written inside the story will be absolutely dark and not for the faint of heart. If your moral compass is intact, look the other way and do not read this.
This is the kind of book where right doesn’t matter and wrong makes sense.
But Cole and Austin sure makes perfect sense together! I appreciate that the characters stayed true to their roles and progressed as the story goes on.
Austin, she’s the kind if heroine you would admire to pieces. She’s no doormat and damsel here and she’s not one to mess around with. And hallelujah for that!
Cole, he’s sick and twisted in his own way. But, we should know by now that not everything you see on the outside is the same as the inside. Cole is still a j-e-r-k and I don’t think that will ever change but he’s got his eyes dead set on Austin and Austin alone. But what lies beneath this man runs deep and dark. And Austin absolutely matches his level of mind-fcuking.
They’re playing a dangerous game that may burn them all down in the end.
The build up of the story was on point and it never faltered, IMO. The story’s plot will keep you guessing of what’s about to happen next and what bomb will be dropped by the author as the story’s climax climbs.
About 96-97% the story took a W-T-F turn and I was like “OH, H-E-L-L NO!”.
Don’t worry. The author’s got you, hahaha.
Omg, this book utterly slayed me. This was a new to me author and wow what a way to start.
I can’t really talk about this book as it was full of bombshell after bombshell, but if you love secrets, lies & games, this is definitely the book for you!
Would give it more stars if I could.
This book is NOT what you would expect from a high school romance, but Shantel has done it again with this sinful book.
It is just wrong in all of the right ways, I don’t know how she does it but I absolutely loved it, I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to see what she has coming in I promise you.
HOLY HELL that was one wild ride!!This book kept me on the edge the whole time. Not knowing what was coming next, who was playing who and what the next dare would be. Just when you think you have it all figured out, BAM Shantel changed it up and left you wide eyed and speechless. I had to put my iPad down and walk away several times. This book evokes such strong reactions and I felt like I couldn’t take anymore (in a really good way).
If you love a dark, angst filled read that always has you guessing then this is a definite must read!!
I can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series!!!
Holy Moly! Boy I have no idea where to even start. I have so many things going through my head. PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER is one. This reminds me of the movie Fear, with Reece Witherspoon, but more sinister. To be honest, I never want to play the ” I Dare You” game, like ever again. This one scared the bejesus out of me. Like honest to god, I was petrified in the beginning. I almost stopped reading a quarter way through this book, because I was so overwhelmed. It’s like when you are watching a movie, and you want to close your eyes because it is so scary. Only I couldn’t because I just had to know what was gonna happen. This author did an amazing job, of keeping me on my toes. The suspense was palpable. This author sure the crap knows how to write a story, with details that make it that much more better. Not gonna lie, in the beginning I could not understand the ‘so-called’ chemistry. I just could not even fathom it. It heart my heart to be honest. Then Tessier did an amazing job of the character development, and I could visually see the chemistry and some.
Austin Lowes has never had the award winning parents. So when her mother ships her off to her absentee father state, she vows to keep her head down until she turns 18. She’s curious like a cat, and has the claws of a lion. She is not one to back down from a challenge, but she loves the solitude of a lonely life.
Cole Reynolds is the devil. He is arrogant, rude and dangerous. Deep down he is this damaged guy that no one understands. He is a GWS, with a list of girls he has hit it and quit it. He’s powerful, like a force from a hurricane, and can make anyone do what he says.
All it takes is a Dare to put things in motion. Is Austin strong enough to survive the game, or will she lose herself even more?

Austin and Cole had such a strong connection that was fueled by hate. They both liked to play games and was always trying to one up the other person.
Throughout the book, I kept wanting the characters to get their act together. They were constantly trying to make the other person suffer instead of explaining their true feelings. Some things were immature, but it worked for these characters and the story line. It made me want to throttle them and fall in love with them all at the same time.
The ending is what got me. My oh my!! I didn’t think my heart was going to make it there for a minute. I cannot wait to see what I Promise You is about!
OMG…what did I just read. Wow…I Dare You was a dark, erotic, thrilling, page-turner that that will have you hooked until the end and loving every moment of it. The story was told in dual POV and was angsty, suspenseful and riveting, with hot steamy scenes, sinister dares and twists and turns you will not expect or see coming. It will take you on a disturbing adventure and evoke a range of emotions from you.
I loved the characters and the intense storyline. With shocking pasts, buried secrets and enemies out to get them, this was a fascinating page-turner and I would highly recommend it.
