Wolves: I Bring the Fire Part I
In the middle of America, Amy Lewis is on her way to her grandma’s house. She’s being chased by a very bad wolf. Galaxies away Loki is waking up in a prison cell, strangely without a hangover, and with no idea what he’s done wrong — this time anyway. But he does know Thor is hiding something, Odin is up to something wicked, and there seems to be something he’s forgotten…
In this urban fantasy tale a nice midwestern girl and a jaded, mischievous Loki must join forces to outwit gods, elves, magic sniffing cats, and nosy neighbors. If Loki can remember exactly what he’s forgotten and Amy can convince him not to be too distracted by Earthly gadgets, Earthly pleasures, or three day benders, they just might pull it off…

Monsters: I Bring the Fire Part II
After being attacked by a serial killer, saved by Loki — so-called God of Mischief, Lies and Chaos — dragged to Alfheim, losing every cent in her bank account, and caring for her grandmother, Amy Lewis has lost her scholarship to veterinary school. But it’s alright. She has a plan. If she manages to keep her day job as a receptionist, and her night job as a vet tech, she may be able to get her scholarship reinstated and save enough money for the dreaded ‘miscellaneous fees.’
Too bad her day boss is unbearable…
Agent Steve Rogers has political aspirations, but when a suitcase nuke turns out to be something much worse and so-called Norse gods start showing up in his life, he has a priority shift.
Meanwhile, Loki’s priorities and plans haven’t changed at all. He wants Asgard to burn. Of course, earthly pleasures can be so distracting.
These three disparate characters have little in common, but they’ll have to join forces to save earth from trolls, wyrms, frost giant invasions, and an old evil growing beneath Chicago’s streets.

Chaos: I Bring the Fire Part III
In this final installment of the Cera story arc, the noose around Loki’s neck is tightening. Gerðr, the frost giantess, wants him dead; Cera, the World Seed, wants his head—literally and figuratively; the FBI wants him in Guantanamo; and an old friend from Asgard wants to bring him home…whether Loki likes it or not.
Things can’t get any worse, but when Loki’s involved, it’s certain they will. In the third chapter of I Bring the Fire, humanity’s demons are unleashed on the Nine Realms and Amy Lewis and Steve Rogers get front row seats.
Chaos might be their only hope.

The fate of the Nine Realms is in the balance, and this time it is in Amy’s hands.

Just plain fun to read
This is a hard set of books to review because it is just so different. The opening focuses on Amy, a student in an Oklahoma vet school who is on her way home to Chicago to earn money for next year’s school fees. During a bteak for gas and to wash roadkill off her dog, Amy bumps into a serial killer. Later, when her car goes off the road in a rainstorm, the serial killer is there, set on murder. But Amy is rescued by a wolf and an odd young man. The odd young man turns out to be the Norse god of mischief, Loki. As the books progress (this series contains the first three books of I Bring the Fire, Amy goes to the aether and meets many of the Norse deities, and Loki gets more and more involved in Earth doings. Several things make these books unique. On is that we learn most of Loki’s background through flasbacks and then through dreams projected to Amy. Second, gates between worlds allow strange and mythical creatures to come to Earth (manticores, wyrms, unicorns, trolls) and people of earth team up with gods to kill the beasts and close the gates. Things get more than a little wierd when the military, FBI, and Chicago city officials get involved. Overall I liked the books, though I wished they had been shorter. I’d recommend the series to someone who likes fantasy who is not bothered by funky and off the wall.
A totally different view of Asgard and the Norse Pantheon. Odin is fallible, Balder is narcissistic, and Loki is not the evil but caught up in the web of Murphy’s law; and Asgardian politics as the nine realms enter an epic struggle of a power nobody is able to control (because Ceres is alive and opinionated and has a bad habit of driving those around her a wee bit wonkers, violently so.) So think revolution and the weirdest step into history you’ve taken in a while…oh, watch out for Trolls.
This is a great series.
Much more than I bargained for. Wonderful read and I enjoyed seeing the other side of the coin for a character that is always portrayed as the bad guy.
loved every word. enjoyed it so well I will definitely read series again.
I absolutely love this and highly recommend it to anyone!
Great story about Loki, Norse Mythology and a young woman without being “Marveled”. Tying in time travel and a Grimm perspective made this epic novel new, old world and very timely. I spent time in Chicago and liked the authenticity as well.
I enjoyed the exploits of Loki. It made me want to read more Norse mythology.
Truly enjoyed the twist to know character’s, kept me reading was actually surprised when finished, I wanted more so got the following books to keep reading
Loved this take on Norse Mythology. Love Love Love Loki as a tragic antiHero!
Great series.
One moment I’m loving it, the next I’m wanting to throw it across the room but stop because then I couldn’t keep reading it… I need more like this in my life
Great read!

You
Wonderful series of books. The author builds upon and weaves among several mythological traditions. Puts a whole new twist on some of the Loki stories, as well as the news you on the trinity of Loki, Thor, and Odin.
I enjoyed reading the “I Bring the Fire” trilogy. The characters are interesting and engaging, and are well developed. Flashbacks helped me to understand the characters reactions, and more fully develop their personalities. The Norse mythology is fascinating and well-developed, a subject that has interested me since I read about the Eddas in another SF story (and also since I have Scandinavian ancestry). I made frequent use of the x-ray and look-up features of the Kindle reader (thanks to Wikipedia, too); they were a big help in keeping track of characters and reading more about their attributes. Using Norse mythology characters to intersect with modern culture, and 21st Century people interacting with the Norse pantheon both on the Earth and among the Nine Realms was very inventive and added great interest and originality to the story. I’m looking forward to reading more of Ms. Gockel’s novels.
