Now an Amazon Top Ten Bestseller: #1 Sports Romance, #1 New Adult Romance, #1 Romantic Comedy
WSJ bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love.Sexy Athlete: I bet you won’t . . . Penelope Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback. The late night text is random but Penelope figures out exactly … Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback.
The late night text is random but Penelope figures out exactly who “Sexy Athlete” is. And why she shouldn’t take his wager.
Ryker Voss.
Football star.
Walks on water and God’s gift to women.
Just ask him.
His bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the guy she’s been crushing on. His plan–good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he’ll realize what he’s missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is. . . why is Ryker being so nice to her?
Penelope Graham.
Virgin.
Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus.
His mortal enemy.
Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs a date to Homecoming? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that could destroy Penelope’s heart forever.
Will the quarterback score the good girl or will his secrets mean everyone loses this game of love?
Oh how I love a good college sports romance and I Bet You does not disappoint. While this book comes after I Dare You, it can be read as a standalone. Ryker was introduced in the previous book and I am thrilled that he got his own book. The storyline is exactly what you expect it to be based off the book’s title and the blurb. The college bet has been done before in other books, but this author takes it to another level. The characters are likable and they have great chemistry. There is humor, romance, unique family dynamics, and a bit of drama. The book moves at a good pace and I was entertained until the very end.
Ryker is a sexy quarterback who is forced into a bet through the football team even though he wants nothing to do with it. I love how he shows his soft side to Penelope. Penelope is a fun heroine. She is a smart and quirky and the type of girl I would have loved to be friend with when I was in college. She is a budding romance writer and I found scenes written in her notebook to be hilarious. I really enjoyed watching how their relationship evolved as they go to know each other. I also liked the secondary characters of Blaze and Charisma and I would love for them to each get their own book.
If you like sports romances and NA romances and/or love Isla Madden-Mills’ previous books, then you will enjoy I Dare You. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.
A fun read full of quirky characters that you can’t help but love.
Ryker Voss should be concentrating on football and nothing else this year. After the scandal of last year, the sexy quarterback has had enough drama. But when an adorably nerdy, sorority girl crosses his path, he can’t stop thinking about her.
Penelope is a smart, witty book worm who does not have time for a cocky quarterback. Her dad is a former NFL player and was absent most of her life. Because of that she has one rule, no dating football players.
The chemistry between these two is off the charts Hot! I could not wait for these two to finally see what was right in front of them.
I loved this one and can’t wait to see what comes next! I really hope we get Blaze and Charisma’s story.
I absolutely adored this book and honestly I am not sure if I liked Penelope or Ryker more but together they were something else. This book hooked me from the start. I was totally caught up in the cat and mouse game that these two played and Ryker’s QB1 attitude.
“I don’t date football players”. Oh Penelope….I think the lady does protest too much. Her feelings for Ryker had been simmering for a while. His determination to make her see that he was truly what she wanted was ingenious. I was so happy when he gave her the final push and she landed right where she was supposed to be…..with him.
Swoon……Ryker was not only a sexy, smooth talking quarterback when he was with Penelope. He was sweet, sensitive and protective too. The angst and anticipation between theses two was off the charts.
Let’s not forget that Isla let’s us get a little taste of what Maverick and Delaney have been up to since I Dare You. As for secondary characters, Blaze really caught my attention. I am not sure if there is anything in the works for him but I can tell you that I would be interested in learning more.
What more can I say about this book aside from the fact that I was definitely a quick sexy read that will leave you with a smile on your face. Go one click …. I bet you will love it too.

There is nothing more exciting than seeing one of your favorite authors releasing a new book… unless it’s getting your hands on a copy of that book before it releases so you can read it early—or for bloggers like myself read and review it. That’s where I was this weekend when I saw I Bet You hit my kindle, literally jumping up and down, screaming joy!! And yes, I scared the kids and the dog with my actions, but my family knows not to come between me and a book by one of my go-to authors. Ilsa Madden-Mills is one of my favorites and I have been anticipating I Bet You since I finished I Dare You a few months ago. Needless to say, I dropped out of life for the time it took to consume I Bet You and it was more than worth the insane amounts of laundry and cleaning I had to do today to make up for lost time.
Ilsa Madden-Mills is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-selling author. Her track record for releasing outstanding romances speaks for itself and calling her one of my favorite authors is not an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. Other than the fact that she pens stories which are unputdownable—they are consistently original, fun, and sexy—there is something about her heroes and heroines that just grab your attention. Heroes like Ryker, heroes who are that perfect balance of cocky, alpha and gentleman willing to go to great lengths for the woman he loves. And there is certainly no denying the appeal of a heroine who’s strong, intelligent and brave (read: Penelope). Am I intriguing you yet? I’ve found that each and every one of Ilsa Madden-Mills hero and heroines meets these characteristics and if you are anything like me, you will find them easy to get lost in much like the storylines of Ilsa’s books.
I Bet You is Ryker Voss and Penelope Graham’s love story. Ryker is QB1 for his college football team who’s lost his shot at The Heisman Trophy after an expose written by none other than Penelope. While the two have spent three years at the same school, they’ve never run into one another before but that all changes after Penelope’s coverage of a football fighting ring. Now they are seeing each other everywhere and with each interaction, their fascination for one another grows… and the sexual tension mounts! Be prepared for a slow-burn, sexy YA romance that will leave you wanting to return to college. Or at least, a college experience like Ilsa Madden-Mills paints! The sheer chemistry between Ryker and Penelope alone made the book worth wild, to say nothing of the sexy times which I certainly enjoyed! I Bet You was hot for sure, but I truly loved the wit and banter between the pair every bit as much… and Penelope’s journal entries as well! I Bet You is the second book in The Hook Up series by Ilsa Madden-Mills. Although part of a series, these sports romances can be read as standalones. Of course, as soon as you read one, you’re going to want to read the other, so do yourself a favor and just buy them both and dig in! You’ll be thanking me! Ilsa Madden-Mills latest, I Bet You, is another five-star romance that you can. not. miss!
At 3% Penelope is talking to her best friend and thinks “Bless her heart.” This is the exact moment that I knew that this book was going to be phenomenal, and that Penelope should be my best friend.
Penelope is determined to be a romance writer and has an imagination that is stuck on historical romances. She loves the word of the day, and is teaching these words to her bird, Vampire Bill. These two scenarios make for some pretty hilarious scenes.
Ryker is the quarterback of the football and one of the most popular guys on campus. He can have anything and anyone at the snap of his fingers, but since the fighting scandal last year, he has been trying to stay on the up and up.
I loved how Ryker loved to rile Penelope up. He would banter with her just to see her reaction. The slow-burn romance between these two allowed them to really get to know each other on a deeper level before they formed a relationship. These types of romances are always my favorite.
Penelope was such an independent character. She was always working to better herself and trying to prove that she was capable of doing things by herself. Her family life was a side story which added the perfect amount of drama to the story.
Ryker was such a loving hero. He was truly looking out for Penelope’s best interest from the beginning even though things get twisted up throughout the way. I loved how he stayed committed to his decisions and didn’t fall for the peer pressure around him.
This is definitely a book that I will reread in the future. It is pretty amazing when an author can use a predictable plot and turn it into a story that has you up all night, falling in love with two outstanding characters, and never wanting the story to end.

Do You want good, sweet college love story ??? If that’s what You like to read I Bet You by Ilsa Madden Mills is PERFECT choice.
I’m big Ilsa’s fan for a while, so I can assure every reader – her books are VERY good one.
I loved everything in I BET You. Penelope and Ryker are amazing. Ilsa done great job writting in such amazing way about them.
Penelope is maybe sweet but she’s tough girl. She know how to reach her goals, because this’s girl is also very smart. I liked the most in her that she wasn’t typical college girl. Penelope works hard and even harder she’s giving her heart for Ryker, but for sure she’s wonderfull in this “fight”. I would dream about friend like she’s for her girls.
Ryker is quite popular in college, because he’s good athlette in school. He could be full of himself because as a good student and succesfull sportsman he’s got reasons to be like that, right ??? But Ilsa gave him Madden-Mills heart. He’s hot but also really good guy. He knew that Penelope won’t give easly her heart, but he didn’t give up.
What I liked the most ??? No… I should say – what I LOVED in this story ???
Ilsa gave this couple great tension… it’s very slow burn but without to much drama behind.
I Bet You is great to read. After starting date with Penelope and Ryker, You’ll realize that this book is immposible to put down. NOW I’m repeating myself again but for sure I BET You is worth every reader time !
I Bet You is the second book in the Hook Up series, but it can be read as a standalone. What a fantastic addition to the series! I loved how this book started and I kept loving it until the end. Real life has been very busy lately, but I couldn’t wait to continue reading this book and I did read every minute I could. I Bet You was a sweet, funny, unique and a little emotional romance. I adored the epilogue! This book is one of my favorite books by the author.
Penelope and Ryker are amazing characters. I loved Penelope from the start. Ryker took a little longer, but once I loved him, I loved him hard! Ryker is strong, determined, sporty, real, reliable and caring. He’s the quarterback of a college team and he loves playing it. He has great team mates. Ryker works hard, but he’s amazing at playing football and he wants to go pro.
Penelope is smart, kind, hardworking, honest and caring. She doesn’t care who Ryker is and she doesn’t mind telling him what she thinks of him. Penelope knows exactly what she wants to be later and she definitely has the fantasy for it. Penelope doesn’t have many friends, but she only has great friends! I especially loved her roommate and I want her to get her own book.
I Bet You is a slow burn romance. It takes a while before Ryker and Penelope are really together, but there was definitely enough chemistry and banter between them to want them together. Penelope is not the woman Ryker usually goes for, but he desperately wants her. Ryker would do anything for her and he can’t imagine being with someone else. Penelope never expected that Ryker would be attracted to her and she tries to keep her distant, but she could only fight against her feelings for so long. Penelope and Ryker are perfect for each other. They support and love each other. I loved them together!

I Bet You is the all new novel by Ilsa Madden-Mills. It is the second book in the Hook Up series but can be read as a stand-alone. Oh. My. Gosh. Talk about SWOONING. I fell so hard for both Ryker and Penelope. Their story was EVERYTHING!!
Ryker is a star QB, charming, smart, and basically can have any girl he wants. Under his alpha exterior is a sweet romantic soul that was really surprising. Anyways, Ryker, along with his team, are constantly making bets. When a particular bet involves a girl that wrote a not so nice but honest article about him and his team, he doesn’t feel right about it. Especially since he really truly wants her. And they’ve become friends or something like that…
Penelope is a nerdy, honest, sassy, awesome human being. She also has a no dating rule-well, a no dating any football players rule. But…when Ryker promises to get the man of her dreams to date her she can’t say no. Problem is, that’s not who she wants. All bets are off(or so she thinks) once she realizes that not all football players are actual players and there is this amazing heart underneath Rykers persona.
I ADORED this book!! It honestly is the perfect blend of romance, friendship, and sweetness with a little drama thrown in. I’ve read many college sport romances but Ms. Madden-Mills has a way of making it feel new and fresh and definitely her own. I loved Ryker and Penelope! Their characters were well thought out which made them so relatable. Their connection and the banter between the two was AMAZING!! You guys don’t want to miss out-you need to read it! Highly recommend it!! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
This is book 2 in this series and I am just loving these couples. They make me wish I was 20 years younger and in college. LOL
Penelope brought out the best in Ryker and I loved it when these 2 were together. Penelope had to let go some of feelings to allow Ryker in and I loved how things fell into place.
This is the second book in The Hook Up series but each book is a standalone. I have not read I Dare You but I was not lost at all, the author did a good job of filling in the gaps that we needed to know. But I am pretty sure that I will be going back to read it!
The story opens up in Sugar’s restaurant where Penelope works. One of her tables is a group of rowdy football players from the college she attends. They tricked her into a bet that she could not open a ketchup bottle and ends up covered with ketchup. One of these football players is Ryker the same Ryker that she wrote a critical editorial about his involvement in the football fighting ring that took place in I Dare You. With that being said Penelope was sure that Ryker was mad at her so when he asked her out she thought he wasn’t being serious. Even though Ryker was not happy about the article there is just something about Penelope that he can’t ignore. But against his better judgement he is taunted into accepting a bet that involves Penelope that is bound to get him in trouble!!
Penelope was a strong heroine but she was a little shy and somewhat nerdy but she was not a pushover she is fairly confident. She also has a great best friend that is very protective but she is also a little off the wall sometimes! Ryker is extremely swoon-worthy and all kinds of a cocky alpha hero! A football jock at their college the hero Maverick from I Dare You is his good friend. There were lots of laugh out loud moments between the two of them and the chemistry and banter between Penelope and Ryker they just had this connection.
It was a well written college sports romance was easy to read the story flowed smoothly and it just really captured my heart. With a Backstreet Boys loving crazy talking bird and an amazing cast of secondary characters along with an incredible epilogue! I Bet You is a must read especially if you want to find out how it all plays out for Ryker and Penelope!
I’ve been a huge fan of Ilsa Madden-Mills since the first book I read by her and each one just keeps getting better and better. I thought Maverick had it all, in I Dare You, the first book in this college romance series but I was wrong and I don’t mind admitting it. It had all the feels in there; the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. The righteous and the downright ‘you better watch out!!’. When Ryker goes full on alpha mode, it’s a sight to behold.
So, in every way, Ryker is hands down, the better man.
He may have been shown in a bad light in the previous book, but here in I Bet You, he gets to shine and boy does he. The light of this guy is radiant and proud. He was a bit of a player once upon a time, but one look at Penelope and he was sunk. He just didn’t realize it until the got the chance to know one another.
Penelope doesn’t have a very good opinion of Ryker, at least in the beginning, she did write that expose in I Dare You, after all, so she thinks she knows all there is to know about Mr. Voss, but she’s so, so wrong.
These two were the perfect compliment to each other.
Ryker is a deliciously sexy, fun-loving and charming guy but unlike most jocks on the field, he’s smart too and doesn’t hide that fact from anyone.
Penelope is an intelligent, sweet and innocent girl, but she could take down Ryker with just a look or a few words. This nerdy girl has eyes for only one man, even though her head tells her she should want someone more like her, it’s her heart that shows her the way and when she decides to let Ryker in, she doesn’t hold back.
I loved watching their story unfold, but I hated that blip that appeared on the horizon and even though Penelope gave Ryker he!! for what he did, I was behind him the whole way. It may have been a little OTT but it was deserved. There is definitely one guy in this story who I fear is beyond redemption, but maybe, just maybe, Ilsa will be able to pull him out of his hole.
Speaking of secondary characters- Charisma and Blaze anybody?? Who wants to see their story? Maybe a little novella seeing as we kinda know how it ends with them. But, I’d like to read more.
Anyhoo, if you’re looking for the best sports romance of the year, then I believe this one should be up there with the top contenders. One Click today and see if I’m right. I Bet You, I am.
“No matter what I tell myself, he’s stealing my heart, bit by bit, and it’s going to take everything I have to resist falling.”
I Bet You is everything sports romance should be: fun, flirty, sensual and romantic. Penelope and Ryker have off-the-charts chemistry and their sizzle from bantering maybe-friends to more is so much fun. A wonderful cast of characters, including a rather peculiar parrot, and a great balance of drama and rivalry, sweet and sexy, friendship and love, humor and heart make I Bet You a perfect pick-me-up read.
4.5 stars
Ryker and Penelope were a great match. Penelope wants to be a romance writer. Who better to write about that the jock filling her mind at work, Ryker. Ryker is the star QB. When Ryker’s jock friends make a bet will be follow through or follow his heart? Will Penelope see who is right in front of her?
This story had me hooked! I didn’t want to put the kindle down! I need to see what else I’ve missed from this author.

Something you should know about me. I have read EVERYTHING that Ilsa Madden-Mills has written to date. She tends to write contemporary romance with a little dirty in it. Her writing superpower is creating characters and relationships that seem to exist in the “real world.” When I read her books, there is a part of me that believes I could be friends with the characters she creates. They are visceral in the way she creates them.
Now, after an Amazon struggle the past couple of days, her readers are finally able to get our hands on I Bet You, the next book in a series of football romance stories set in Magnolia, Mississippi at a fictional university, Waylon University. The first book, I Dare You, released earlier in the year. I Bet You tells the story of Ryker, the star quarterback of the Waylon U football team, and Penelope, a fellow student. Penelope and Ryker are seemingly two very different people. Ryker is the sexy, attractive BMOC, wildly popular among the students, while Penelope is a beautiful nerdy romance-loving writer. Even through Penelope is attracted to Ryker, given her past, Penelope has made the rule: no football players. However, a quick bet, a plan to help Penelope attract Connor, and a lot of time spent together, leads them to the impossible.
Characters:
One of the strengths of Madden-Mills’s romances is her characters. As I mentioned at the beginning of the blog post, her characters could be real people, people that you and I would consider personal friends. In this book, Ryker and Penelope are everything. In I Dare You, Ryker is Maverick’s player roommate. There isn’t a woman that Ryker doesn’t like. However, even with that flaw, he is loyal. As Maverick makes some unwise decisions, Ryker continues to support him, even to his own detriment. In I Bet You, Ryker continues his loyalty, this time to Penelope. We realize early on that the two are seriously attracted to each other. This attraction to Penelope leads him to show his loyalty by helping her connect with Connor, the boy she believes is a better match. Ryker readily forgoes his attraction to her to maintain his loyalty to their burgeoning friendship.
As of late, authors such as Kandi Steiner with The Wrong Game and Meghan March with The Sin Trilogy have created the penultimate book boyfriends. They are sensitive, caring, willing to sacrifice their reputations for the heroines, sexy, and handsome. Whether you read Zach or Lincoln and now, Ryker, you cannot help but wish there were more men like them in the real world. Like Steiner’s Zach and March’s Lincoln, Ryker’s sensitivity to the Penelope makes him irresistible to the reader. This trend leads the reader feel strongly for the actions of the hero. You cannot help but root for Ryker because his clearly knows that Penelope is “it” for him: “I feel like I’m in a dream. And here’s the thing—I’ve had some kickass moments in my life, the time I won a state championship, the day I got my scholarship from Waylon, but nothing… nothing beats having her.”
Now, Penelope embodies the woman who knows herself, and she does not care about other’s thoughts about her. She tells us early on that she forgives easily. She loves her historical romance, Twilight, vampires, and statement tees. She doesn’t feel the need to meet some societal expectations. Instead, she is simply who she is, and it is perfect for Ryker. She brings out the best in him, and she knows him better than other woman could ever know him: “The Ryker of my heart would never participate in a bet that involved me. And I didn’t need Margo to tell me that. Or Charisma to explain about how sometimes we say things we don’t mean. I know him. I think maybe I’ve known him for a long time, or my soul has. Since the moment I researched and wrote the article about him, he carved out a place in my brain, and now he owns my heart.” I love these two together.
Story:
I have to admit that I did see the conflict coming from afar. When the focus of the book is betting, it is obvious that a bet would cause problems for Ryker and Penelope. And that is the case with this story. What I love about the story, though, is the redemption of Ryker in the end and Penelope’s ability to finally move past her anger and disappointment with her father. This can only occur when she faces the difficulty with Ryker. Characters overcoming their pasts always makes for a strong romantic trope.
Even more, together, Ryker and Penelope are funny and charming and compelling to read. Focusing on their relationship would be enough for the story, but Madden-Mills also gives us more with Penelope’s “daddy” issues and Ryker’s sensitivity to perfectionism. These are common issues and readers can relate to them.
Sexiness Quotient:
Madden-Mills always gives us enough sex in her books. We get enough to underscore the characters’ relationship. It adds another dimension to their love, but the sex does not overpower the relationship. The way in which they connect on a spiritual or emotional level is the most important, and sex simply adds a bit more to those levels. This is truly the case in I Bet You. Ryker and Penelope seriously want each other, and their bodies show this, but Madden-Mills does not give us all the raunchy details. She gives us enough physical to enhance the emotional and spiritual.
Overall: (5 Stars)
I will always read anything from Ilsa Madden-Mills. I find myself in her stories. They are real and relational and readable. I Bet You took a bit to get to Amazon, but it is definitely worth the wait. Ryker and Penelope will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you love a little bit deeper.
Ryker is a star football player and the pain in Penelope’s side. However they have great banter, and as time went on I totally swooned over him. No one can say that man isn’t star book-boyfriend material. Even the girl who really wants to deny him…poor Penelope, she has this sweet nature and quick wit but I bet you she doesn’t stand a chance.
Remember the name Ryker Voss- he’s one of my top book boyfriends of the year!
Ilsa Madden-Mills walks a fine tight-rope line between romantic comedy with just the right amount of angst. Throw in the sports aspect from I Bet You, and you have a winner. You’ve got Penelope- a smart and sassy, hardworking heroine, who is just trying to find her way in college. Then there’s Ryker, the “it” guy of campus, quarterback, popular, and extremely easy on the eyes. These two have instant chemistry that fly off the page. They may not have anything in common at first glance, but these two have that connection that is palpable. I love Ilsa’s writing, and I Bet You is another winner!
This was such an enjoyable book!
I really loved the chemistry and banter between Penelope and Ryker, and how natural and comfortable they were with each other.
The two characters really connect over bets – Ryker and his mates love making bets, Penelope finds easy bets hard to resist. Cue shenanigans.
Penelope was such a great character. She’s a little nerdy, but is also part of a sorority, has a great BFF, and is fairly confident and quirky. She isn’t impressed that Ryker is a jock, she cares about people and their actions, and she’s very dubious about his intentions in offering to help her.
Ryker is a popular jock who could have any girl he wants, but he can’t get Penelope off his mind – there’s just something about her, but he does something stupid thanks to his jock buddies and ends up upsetting her. When he realises she has a crush on someone, he thinks it’d be a brilliant idea to help her land her crush. Of course his teammates don’t make things easy for him, and there’s a high risk that his new friendship with Penelope might be a casuality to their games. What will he choose to do?
I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so you need to go and read this book yourself. 🙂
Some books give you the stupids. You know…the stupid grin, a case of stupid giggles, and the stupid star struck sighing happy thoughts look. The stupids for short.
I Bet You is all about giving the stupids. I have a scary stupid grin and that lost in the clouds happily never coming down look in my eyes but it’s the giggles that made my eldest two children come running and question my sanity. I have a full blown case of the stupids.
I Bet You is every swoony thing. All the swoons. I can not even express the amount of fun it was to read this book. It’s silly and sweet. It’s naughty and demure. It’s a whole truck load of contradictions but the absolute perfect storm of awesomeness. From pop culture references to OTT (over the top) acronyms, you will be swept up in all the fun.
I Bet You can’t read this without cracking a grin, snorting at dialogue, and finishing with hearts in your bodice ripper loving eyes!
I Bet You…
MY FAVORITE ISLA MADDEN MILLS book so far!
Ever since I heard about Ryker in The Hook Up, I’ve been itching to hear his story. I mean, he protected his friend and for a good reason. Like all books by this author, I inhaled it. You can question whether or not I really read this story but it was just so addicting! From the moment I started reading it on my tablet, I was captivated. Ryker is in his crunch year at Uni, he needs to make up for the downfall of what happened last year while still being the best. He has all the potential to go pro as long as he doesn’t mess up. He can’t afford any distractions, que Penelope. She’s the ULTIMATE distraction. Not only does he like her but she was also the one to expose the underground fighting that occurred last year. Unfortunately, Penelope wants nothing to do with him, even if she’s attracted to him. She doesn’t date jocks, especially football players. That’s her rule, she doesn’t want to get let down as she has in the past with her father. Not to mention, the football team is notorious for doing bets and she refuses to be part of it. Ryker is your typical guy that has all this depth to him yet he covers it with a facade. He’s so caring and patient and oh, so sweet that he melts me. He really makes the effort to be a good person to Penelope. He even watched Twilight and made fun of it. Her reaction was priceless “My shoulders slump. It’s like eating the best piece of chocolate ever and giving a piece to your friend only to have them spit it out.” Ryker and Penelope constantly fight their feelings for each other. “My breath catches as the truth hits me. Ryker Voss hasn’t been with a girl in months, and I’m the one he wants. But he’s afraid. I am too. I don’t need a quarterback fucking up my life. Tangled emotions rise up, and I suck in a shuddering breath. No matter what I tell myself, he’s stealing my heart, bit by bit, and it’s going to take everything I have to resist falling.” Penelope fights her feelings more than Ryker does. She’s scared to admit how she feels, by being honest it will change everything for her. She has to risk getting hurt and potentially having a jock, a guy she has feelings for, let her down. “I’m scared of the answer. Because once I say it aloud-I want you, Ryker-then its real, and I have to deal with it.” This story was filled with sexual tension and funny moments. I laughed so hard at Ryker trying to flirt with Penelope “let’s do laundry together”. Or Penelope saying “I imagine they even fight to be the ones to suck your sweet little toes.” I come to an abrupt halt. Suck his toes? OMG. Where that random comment come from?” I laughed so hard. Note to all readers, make sure you’re not eating or drinking while reading this book. You don’t want milk coming out of your nose as it did for me. This book speaks to all the inner Twilight fans. It spoke to my inner teenager. Penelope is me. She’s me as a teenager, me as a college student and to a certain extent me now. I relate to her a lot and not just cause she loves all things vampires as I do (although that’s a bonus). I relate to how she handles things.
**WARNING SPOILERS BELOW**
I just have to say, how he proposes to her made me melt. It was the ultimate team Edward dream. I loved the allergic reaction to the glitter. It just made me laugh and appreciate it so much more. Isla Madden Mills is one of my top ten favorite authors. I Bet You is now competing with Spider for my favorite book. I highly recommend this book!!! It’s a must-read for this fall season. This book has everything you could need, romance, sports, excellent writing, and more. Isla excels in her sports romances books. I wouldn’t mind if she wrote a Hockey book *wink*. I give this book a 4.75-star review. Just amazing. Trust me, you don’t want to miss on this read.
Do you all remember when the first Twilight came out? Or when the series exploded? I don’t know about you, but I was obsessed. Like most girls were, I dreamed of Edward Cullen, went to the midnight movie premieres, wore their products etc. I was damn proud of it. I’ve always been slightly obsessed with the paranormal. I love vampires. Isla mentioned all my favorites and I had an inner fangirl moment
I really loved I Dare You and I knew I was going to love I bet You, its right in my wheel house of the college Genre, sports and the not so popular heroine and I was certainly not disappointed.
I love the way Ilsa Madden Mills writes she has you hooked right from the start and this was no exception, I really loved how well it flowed and I just didn’t want to put it down.
As we had met Ryker in I Dare you I was interested in his story and he was not what I thought he was going to be like, I am not sure why but I thought he was going to be a real jock, but he was so nice and put his feelings to the side to make everyone happy and I loved that.
Penelope was so sweet, I loved her character and her no crap attitude and tried not to care what anyone thought of her. She fought her feelings a lot and besides her best friend charisma I loved her other best friend Bill ha ha.
What a great book I really loved everything about it, I loved the characters quirkiness , the chemistry the story and just how this book was written, I laughed, I got emotional and thats all I can really ask for form a novel
Massive 5 stars for this book
