Ryker Voss.
Football star.
Walks on water and God’s gift to women.
Just ask him.
His bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the guy she’s been crushing on. His plan–good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he’ll realize what he’s missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is. . . why is Ryker being so nice to her?
Penelope Graham.
Virgin.
Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus.
His mortal enemy.
Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs a date to Homecoming? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that could destroy Penelope’s heart forever.
Will the quarterback score the good girl or will his secrets mean everyone loses this game of love?
It goes to show it doesn’t matter if it’s high school-college-university, we all face the same problems we do when we are older.
Family
Friends
Trust
Respect
Love
Loyalty
All things that take time to earn, but a second to be shattered into a million pieces. But there’s just that stubborn few who make it unscathed & they are worth betting on
Awwww Ryker!!! I bloody love you!
Penelope I want to be you!
And the other one…. karma is a bitch good luck with that!!!!
I enjoyed I Dare You, and I Bet You is just as fun. Two people that should really not be anything even friends become an unexpected love story.
Penelope and Ryker are on total opposites of everything. She is a sweet and fun nerd. He is all American football player. These two are thrown together and the heat is off the charts.
This is a light-hearted read that you really can’t put down.
I Bet You is such a great read! In book 2 of The Hookup Series we meet Ryker and Penelope. What an awesome sports romance this was. We can feel the instant attraction these two have going on but also see the reluctance. While trying to win a bet we see the chemistry between these two. Meeting Penelope’s character we see that she is a strong woman that doesn’t take anyone’s crap. And Ryker sure likes to dish it out. I loved how we saw characters from the previous book here. I love when authors do that. I could. It put the book down once i started reading. I give this book a 5 star rating.

4.5/5 stars
Sometimes a book is just pure perfection, and this is one of those times. This is exactly what I wanted. It’s a great new adult book with a super hot, albeit sometimes kind of a jerk, quarterback. He is cocky to the hilt, but underneath it all has lots of heart and good intentions. With a name like Ryker Voss, you know he smokin, cocky, and alpha all the way.
Then there’s Penelope, who is the perfect semi-quirky, totally self confident, aspiring historical romance author, who makes Ryker work harder for her attention than anyone before her. I truly loved this book. New adult is a great genre, and Ilsa makes it look easy with great characters and awesome writing. (Review by Terri “Jane”)
Instant chemical attraction, have you ever had that with someone…anyone? Felt like you’ve you known them for years? Penelope Graham and Ryker Voss had it in spades, it oozed from their pores, it melted from the pages of my kindle. Insta-in-love with the two of them!!
Penelope’s sassy-no-filter mouth with a dash of geek is pretty much my favorite kind of heroine and then Ryker—oh holy hotness—the sensitive side that he didn’t even know he possessed until he meet the right girl is extra sex-on-a-stick and had me melting over and over.
“He shrugs nonchalantly. And I watch him. Seeing him. He has such a soft side. My heart flutters.” -Penelope
Waylon University’s football team has had a long history of making bets among themselves, childish-boy prank kind of bets, but honestly let’s figure out the math involved in this equation. Jocks+boys+bets=stupidity, see math never lies.
Ryker is given a bet that Penelope will not go out on a date with him, the stakes are raised further when she puts several guys in their place unbeknownst to the team that Penelope doesn’t date football players. Ever. The more she says no, the more Ryker is intrigued. The more he’s intrigued the more he gets to know her. She’s funny, smart, cute in an understated way. Just different from the girls he’s used to being with and it makes him sort of crazy that she is so opposite and yet he wants her knowing the price it will cost if the bet is actually won.
“Something changed between us. I can’t put my finger on exactly what, but I do know I’m jealous as hell of a nerd who loves to talk about mechanical pencils and pool.” – Ryker
Ryker wants Penelope, but he won’t pursue her because of the stupid bet. He’d never hurt her, he’s not that much of a douchebag, but what he can do is help her get a date with the geek that she’s been infatuated with. If it means spending more time with her he’s all in. Perhaps once she sees that Connor is all geek and Ryker is really a nice guy she’ll change her mind and…and…well the bet…the bet, that damn bet.
“My heart dips. Ryker Voss is one complicated man.” -Penelope
I Bet You is soooooo good. I couldn’t stop reading it. I loved, loved, loved Ryker and Penelope so much I seriously never wanted the story to end! It releases soon and you need to add this one to your TBR list.
If you are looking for a book that has all the feels, that will make you laugh and have you connected to wonderful characters I Bet You is the book to read. This is the second full length stand-alone book within the Hookup Series and this is Penelope Graham and Ryker Voss’s story.
Ryker is the star quarterback of Waylon University he is in his final year and until now he has had his dating life on the back shelf believing football needs to come first but he has had an eye on Penelope from a distance something about the nerdy stunning redhead intrigues him …….
Penelope is a sweet girl who is just a little bit crazy in the nicest way and just a bit of a klutz, she owns a crazy parrot who loves to swear and repeat things that should never be reacted and never in a million years did she believe she would end up on Ryker’s radar…..
This book ticked all the boxes for me, great characters with sizzling chemistry , witty banter , just the perfect amount of angst , and some laugh out loud moments . This book had all the feels I want in a great read, looking forward to more in the Hookup Series.
IMM has done it again! she has delivered a simply brilliant, fun, hot romance.
Ryker and Penelope have such a fun relationship, you love them straight away.
Enemies-to-lovers, jock-wanting-nerdgirl these are common storylines but I absolutely loved IMM spin on them. The banter between them is addictive and entertaining.
Ryker is different from the man-whore persona he puts out but he is a cocky football player that lets himself be caught up in a silly bet. When the bet goes wrong he feels guilty and wants to apologise and ends up offering to help her get the guy she likes. What could possibly go wrong?!?!
Penelope is a sassy, honest girl. She doesn’t take any crap off anyone which I really loved
I can’t wait to see what Ilsa Brings us next as her writing is simply flawless and brilliant making her one of my go-to authors
I didn’t know how much I’ve missed Ilsa Madden-Mills stories, until reading this book. She has this particular way of telling us amazing stories like no other. I BET YOU is a heartwarming story that will steal your heart from the beginning.
Penelope is a lovely girl who wants to be a romance writer, she’s very sweet and kind of quirky. She knows she should stay away from this hot quarterback Ryker, her dad was a player too and as he abandoned her mom, she thinks all the players are the same. But she finds it hard to resist him…
Ryker is a “God” and one of the best players in his league. He can have any girl he wants, but he only wants the one he can’t have.
This story is very entertaining. The interactions are hilarious and will have you laughing to yourself with Penelope and Ryker banter. If you’re looking for a quick, sexy and funny story, this book is for you.
5/5
I enjoyed reading this book, right from the first page down to the last. It may have all started in a bet, or way long before that. When Penelope decide to write down a piece about the sexy quarterback. Even though she wrote another piece to clear his name, it wasn’t as popular as the first one. Now, she thinks he wants to get even.
But instead, he offered help. He wanted to help her snag the nerd she was crushing on, by well – kissing her. His plans though sort of backfired when sparks began to flew when they kissed. Nevertheless, that kiss to make the man of her dreams jealous started a weird friendship between the two of them.
What happens though when Penelope will discover about the secret bet that Ryker has? Will their ‘friendship’ survive?
Ryker is a great football player, an amazing friend and a captain who knows how to lead his man. He tries to choose his battle, but sometimes some fights are just inevitable. He’s easy to like, and his stupid mistakes may make you want to strangle him – but truth of the matter is that – he had never been in love with a girl, and he doesn’t know how to handle both the girl and the feelings.
And Penelope – she’s one heck of a woman. I like her. She tried to stand on her own feet when her mom passed away. She worked to pay for everything she needed. I like her independence, her strength, and her wit. The banters between the two of them are just crazy.
Yes, this book will make you laugh, swoon, tear up a bit, but most of all, this book will make you fall in love. I like the fact that this book included family dynamics. How Penelope finally came to terms with her dad. The road wasn’t easy – but the scene was worth it.
Hot Football heroes and nerdy heroines and a swoony-plot? Oh yes. Ilsa Madden-Mills has it all in the bag.
I am a huge sucker for sport romance novels and always jump at the chance to read them. In I Bet You by Ilsa Madden-Mills we get an opposites attract story that was both funny and sweet and I devoured it!
Penelope is the good girl trying to work and finish college. She is sweet, a bit innocent and not at all interested in jocks. Ryker is the football golden boy and a total player. Known for their crazy betting between football players leading up to homecoming, Ryker finds himself needing to get the girl. But the more time they spend together, the more he falls. What will happen when Penelope discovers the truth?
I Bet You by Ilsa Madden-Mills was a fun and sexy read. Ryker and Penelope had crazy chemistry and I loved their interactions so much. Definitely a must-read with great characters and story!

Happy reading!
Gah! Ryker has officially stolen my heart. I fell head over heels in love, and cannot stop thinking about this super sexy male hero. Friends, you do not want to miss out on Penelope and Ryker’s story. He is absolutely swoon-worthy and Penelope, is just as wonderful. I am not trying to gush here, but I really and truly loved this book!
Ryker is the golden boy of Waylon University, where he is a senior and quarterback of the football team. Penelope is a feisty and nerdy redhead, whom he has been watching from afar. One night, while at the local bar & grill with his buddies, Ryker finally comes face to face with her. She might just be the one woman to steal his heart and cause him to change his ways.
Readers, you need to read this angsty and captivating love story. I loved every single second of it, from beginning to end. This story has everything one hopes to read about in a romance novel. The story-line, the friendships, the humor, the romance, the sexy times. This book has it all. Obviously, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great NA sports romance.
This was a really good bet to love type read. I didn’t think that Ryker was a bad guy deep down. I loved him in the last book and think that getting in his head really made me love him more. I love how corky Penélope was. She made me laugh and I just loved her personality. This book had lots of heart but also moments where you wanted to strangle characters. I was so glad these two got their HEA and they found a great love with each other. It had a great slow burn feel to it but the pace was fast and kept me glued to my kindle. The secondary characters really bright out sides to the main characters. Both good and bad. I can’t help but be drawn to them and hope that Charimas and Blaze get stories. I can’t wait to see what’s next. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I bet you will enjoy this story!
This was a slow burn between Penelope & Ryker, & I enjoyed it! I enjoyed that they got to know each other before anything happened, because as the blurb says Ryker the college football star quarterback helps nerdy Penelope with her crush. But what happens when she realizes that the guy she thought she wanted isn’t really who she wants? And what happens when Ryker has to show her that not all football players are jerks because of her preconceived notions connected to her dad, & that the bet isn’t what she thinks it is? What happens is a sweet, fun, swoony romance that I enjoyed & you will too!
The star quarterback and the nerdy girl? Now that sounds like an interesting romance! I loved how Ilsa Madden-Mills writes college romance that will make you swoon over the chemistry of her characters. Penelope and Ryker might seem like polar opposites but when it comes to love, opposites attract right?
I love the drama and the build-up of the romance between the two characters. It’s fun, sweet, sexy and a total page-turner! Believe me, I couldn’t put the book down after reading the first chapter.
I Bet You is one fresh take on a typical college romance. It’s got enough romance to keep you off your feet and the humor to make you laugh and enjoy every page.
Penelope is a riot! She is independent and off the wall all at once! Ryker has her losing her temper and on her last nerve… but isn’t that what guys do when they like you?
The football team is forever making odd bets. Defense vs Offense will bet on just about anything to win the trophy of who wins the most bets. Ryker cannot resist a dare and this just get in a lot of hot water with Penelope.
Delightful, light story of two college students and the complications of falling in love with the quarterback.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing a copy with me.
Wow I don’t know where to start with this book. Ryker and Penelope are absolutely great. This is not your typical boy meets girl , boy and girl fall in love. Actually this is more boy meets girl and girl hates boy.
Penelope hates jocks and especially the ones like Ryker who are making bets about her. Ryker is the typical jock . He is the QB for the college , hottie and loves to bet especially on Penelope. Little does Ryker know one bet could change everything .
This book will bring tears to your eyes , it will make you laugh , and it will all be worth the ride.
Ryker is the star quarterback, and is attracted to Penelope, who he is determined to prove too that he is so much more than a football player. This is a well written flawless story, which is filled with angst, drama, emotion, humor, and is an all round entertaining romantic comedy. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, and highly recommend for all readers.
If you’re a fan of football romance, you’ll absolutely adore I Bet You. It’s a low-angst, highly entertaining love story between the university’s star quarterback and the quirky girl-next-door, and I couldn’t stop quietly laughing and smiling at Ryker’s flirtatious and playful pursuit of Penelope. He beguiled and disarmed her while proving he wasn’t the typical jock, and their chemistry was undeniable and evident on every page. I Bet You is a charming, sexy, humorous and downright swoony romance set amongst all of the delicious fun of college football in the South.

ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
An atypical nerd, member of a sorority, with a passion for novels and vampires. A popular athlete, captain of the team and with fame of man-whore. Two different people and no closeness, but because of a fight and an article, they become archenemies. Penelope has caused damage with her article. Ryker lost the nomination to an important prize, his friend was suspended from the team, his reputation suffered a concussion and the moral of his team was affected. Two young people. Complete opposites. Until a bet brings them both closer together.
But if one thing is clear in this book is that appearances deceive. The two protagonists are more dense than the created stereotypes. Ryker may have the fame of the carefree athlete, but his shoulders carry a weight and uncertainty typical of youth. His family life is full of conflict, with an absent mother and a father whose relationship is not affectionate. In addition, we have the pressure of the team and the coach, the need to clean up his image and a colleague who antagonizes all the time, creating tension, fights and invents the bet. Ryker is in the extreme, about to explode. Penelope can sigh for the hot guys from romance books, but in reality she is extremely focused. With two jobs and college, she has no time for distractions. Her father living in the same city with her new family is certainly a distraction she does not need right now, as does the president of her sorority, and by the way her half-sister pestering her and all the attention of the football team turned to her lately.
As the two come to spend some time together, they discover that they have more in common than they imagined and a friendship between the two will form. Among a lot of laughs, a suitor on paper that had everything to be ideal, a Twilight session, a spicy notebook, spaghetti, flat tires, a parrot with a repertoire full of swear words, a cute scene in the rain, many text messages, a pool table and many confessions, the two will break their own rules (Ryker does not want distractions and Penelope does not want to fall in love with an athlete) and will find that sometimes what’s right in front of us is exactly what we need.
A little drama and misunderstanding are part of the narrative, but they are dosed with funny scenes, loyal friends and a couple with absurd chemistry. The article that spoiled Ryker’s chances might have given him a future he did not even dream about. The epilogues complement the story and close perfectly. A cliché novel, set in a college, with predictable situations but that work because of its protagonists. A good reading.
PS: Despite loving Ryker, he deserved a slap for telling the team about the night he spent with Penelope. The “do not kiss and tell” maxim applies here.
This book was absolutely worth the wait! Fun, steamy and so swoon worthy.
