A MEMOIR BY THE YOUNGEST RECIPIENT OF THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE As seen on Netflix with David Letterman“I come from a country that was created at midnight. When I almost died it was just after midday.”When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education. On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she … education.
On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.
Instead, Malala’s miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she became a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest nominee ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.
I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls’ education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.
I AM MALALA will make you believe in the power of one person’s voice to inspire change in the world.

A great read and teaches what some have to go through for an education.
Should be required reading for all!
Remarkable story of bravery and standing up (and almost dying) for girls’ education.
An unforgettable story of a girl born to an educator and raised in a society that didn’t value women. She was mature beyond her years and braver than many men. I wish she would write a sequel to tell what has become of her and her family since relocating to Britain.
Informative and reminds me how lucky I am to have been born in America
A real eye opener.
The thoughts and life of the girl behind the story. If you enjoy understanding different cultural perspectives, or motives behind courageous action, this book is inspirational and interesting, especially from one so young in age.
this was the best book ever.
A beautifully written book by a very bright and brave young woman
A must read if you want an understanding of the world today
Malala is an incredible young woman. What an inspiring story!!
An inspirational narrative of coming of age for Malala in Taliban controlled Pakistan.
Malala is an amazing young woman and her story is readable and powerful! I wish her a powerful and happy life.
What an inspiration Malala is! This book really brings home the global necessity for education, and especially education for girls and women.
An amazing book! Real life!
An unbelievable story of survival in a world hard for us in America to comprehend.
The love and support of her family was what helped her get thru this terrible tragedy along with her own strong inner faith and determination. Malala has not stopped as she has grown up she continues to fight for women rights with balanced and mature actions.
I felt sorry for what these woman had to suffer to just get a
education The pain what Isis has done to there country ESP what the woman had to go through even to live
What an inspirational story she tells! If only more young people would stand up for their right to an education.
She is amazing and oh so brave.
Was disappointed but not unexpectedly given the youth of the author. Very much written as “and then this happened and then that happened.” But glad I read it for the background story of Malala.
